Now you need to think about how to carry your new boat anchor Bond Arms! lol!!  ;)

Since I don't have a boat that needs an anchor, it will make a great paperweight. All my papers could survive a tornado with this thing laying on them! 😁

Postalman,
Being that you recently purchased  (or received the Bond Derringer) I think that Bond still offers 50% on a bbl purchase from them.

Give them a call and see if they still offer that program.

The Bond may be a bit heavy but I don't seem to notice regardless of the style holster I use.

Let us know how the range session with the new piece goes.

Top dog- thanks for the heads up. I'll give them a call. Nothing to lose (who knows, it might even free up some space in my wallet!) 😀

Postalman,
You find that the folks at Bond Arms are super nice people. Heck, when you call,it may even be Gordon Bond that may answer the phone!!!

Trouble with wallets is that they get too cramped with that money stuff!!!

Over a period of time,I now have nine different bbls for my Bond Texas Defender.

Some time back, the safety on my Texas Defender started to rotate. I called down to Bond Arms, they said send it in.  About a week later,it was back in my hands,fixed......................no charge.

                                                                                                                                   Top Dog

Looks like a call to Bond Arms is a must- my locking lever won't release the barrels if both chambers are loaded. Locked up so tight I had to remove the barrels to unload the firearm. No problem with either the top or bottom chamber alone but a "no go" fully loaded. Not happy but as many have said, Bond Arms will make it right. You just don't want to see problems with a brand new pistol.

Also had to send my LCP II back to Ruger when the first ammunition I tried to cycle wouldn't feed. Tried both FMJ and hp. Ruger had to replace the mag latch and spring, barrel and slide. They also replaced the magazine and sent me an extra one, to boot. Top notch customer service!

At this point, I guess bad luck is better than no luck at all.

Postalman,

You will find that the customer service at Bond Arms is top notch. Just politely explain the problem and they will correct it right away.

More than likely they may send you a shipping label to save you the shipping cost.

I finally got some range time in with the 'ol Snake Slayer IV. Gotta say, I really like it. Good fit and finish, nice weight, feels good in the hand, shoots nice. Can't really complain. It is becoming one of my favorite toys.

Sweet looking piece Ozark , one of these days I'll own one in 45 Colt hope it won't be too much to handle but the gun looks big enough to take the heat . Great picture . :)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Can someone let me know where to get extra hinge pins? When I called Bond Arms, I was told by two different reps that they don't sell hinge pins but they will replace one if yours comes up missing or broken.
I'd like to have a couple of extras...just in case.

Postalman,
Bond Arms must have changed their policy because a few years ago,I ordered some extras from them,no problem.

If possible, give them a (polite) call or email again and explain that you would like a spare hinge pjn or two just in case you misplace one.

I can't see why they won't sell extras.

Hope that all works out OK for you.

Top Dog,

Been there, done that. I tried that tactic with the second rep after talking with the first one. He was sympathetic but it was a no-go.
According to them, they don't sell replacement parts direct to consumers but they will replace parts that are broken or lost.

They also told me to only use Remington, Federal, or Winchester ammo in their derringers since those are brands they test with. The rep told me it says that in the owner's manual but I've read the manual front to back and I don't see that anywhere. The following is straight from the manual-

AMMUNITION:
1. use clean, dry original factory made ammunition of the proper type and caliber for your gun.
2. Never use non-standard or reloaded ammunition. Bond Arms, Inc. cannot be held responsible
when faulty ammunition is used.
3. Your firearm has been designed for ammunition of a specific caliber. The proper caliber and
cartridge type is stamped on the side of the barrel. Do not use any other ammunition than that
specified on the barrel of your firearm. Do not alter the barrel, chamber, or caliber.
4. For derringers chambered in .45 Colt, only use loads suitable for Colt SAA revolvers. Do not chamber or shoot 454 Casull. Damage to the derringer and serious injury to the shooter would
result.
5. If you experience misfires or accuracy problems, try different brands of the same caliber ammo.

are you saying that if the hinge pin is broken or lost they will then send you the part or do they want you to send in the gun so they can replace the hinge pin. that sounds kind of draconian.

heyjoe,

They said they would send a replacement hinge pin if the original was lost or broken. I took that to mean I would not have to send the gun to them (at least I hope that's the case, should the need ever arise).

The hinge pin does not need to be fitted to the derringer.

Just tell them that you misplaced the pin so they can send you a new one.  (you can "find" the misplaced pin later)

The latest issue of Combat Handguns has an article about the Bond Arms Derringers with multiple bbl options.

The Bond derringers seem to be a bit hefty but they exude quality and sturdy construction.

Sometimes I pack mine in the back pocket holster and really don't seem to notice it.

Go to the Bond website and look at the customer comments. A  lot of happy Bond Owners out there!!!!!!

i have several bond arms derringers and multiple barrels, some in duplicate calibers, so i highly appreciate b.a.?s work.  that said, i wish i could have warned postalman away from the ill (not just less) finished, cheaper rowdy/roughneck/grizzly models.  guess what, ill finished means just that, they dont fit well to a uniform standard, which is crucial when barrels are supposed to completely swappable.  i had one, had to return it at my expense to fix it, and i sold it away with full disclosure.

b.a. decided to chase a broader market with a cheaper product and guess what happened, imho.  thankfully naa has never done this.

that said i remain a fan of the original, well finished, gen2 b.a. derringers.  gen2 have a much smoother action and are denoted by indented triggers and a wide trigger spur.

my advice on b.a. derringers:  buy used original gen2, built stout, carried more than shot.  look on gunbroker.  first and second barrels should be 45lc/410 and your favorite centerfire carry pistol caliber.  use 410 handgun specific ammo, your wrist will thank you.  357mag and 45acp are no fun, ymmv.  all other calibers range from surprisingly okay to pleasant enough to gobs of fun.  if you are a shooter, not collector, replace the pretty wooden grips with rubber or other fuller aftermarket grips, large for ?4? calibers, small ok for others.  cheers.

I've had the Ol' Snake Slayer out to the range a few times, and man is it fun! My wife gave it a go, and she was a fan. Great little gun!
