I took my new mini-mag to the range (my back yard) for the first time yesterday. Some time ago I bought 4 boxes of Aguila 22 mag semi jacketed soft point at a good price from a sporting goods store that was liquidating.

The gun was consistently shooting 3 rounds and locking up the cylinder. Getting the empty shells out of the cylinder was difficult. I had to use the cylinder pin, hold it pin-side down and bang it on the table.

I was considering sending the gun in to NAA, and then I put the ammo into an older mini-mag which has always operated flawlessly. It also hung up after 3 rounds. I believe the back of the expanded empty shell was hitting the frame as it rotated down toward the bottom of the frame.

So . . . if you see Aguila 22 mag semi-jacketed soft point ammo, keep walking!

I have a single shot 22 mag rifle that may be okay with that ammo. That'll let me use them up.

Does the Aguila say Made in the Philippines? Just wondering...

I use Aguila in my Guardian 32s. It's Mexican made. Aguila's plant there was built by Remington, not sure when Aguila took it over. I do know that Aguila's and Remington's FMJ .32 ACP look and shoot identical. Only difference is price and packaging.

Hecho en Mexico

I had the same thing happen with one brand of ammo (I don't remember the name)

The base would bulge backwards and keep the cylinder from rotating.

The base had a large "T" on the bottom I do remember that  ;)

large 'T'? Armscorp?

i really like the 22wmr from American Standard (which i believe was Armscorp); came in 250rnd boxes, two boxes per carton... still have some stashed away... but have not seen it for sale lately

anyway, that is what i carry in my Sidewinder - works better (more consistent) than others i have tried...
