Cylinder Timing

I have (had) 3 NAAs, a 1-1/8 mini, a Black Widow, and a new 1-5/8 mini. When I got the new one I ordered a range rod for 22/22wmr from Brownells. I have 6 cylinders that have been cross timed between the 1-1/8 and the Black Widow. The new mini adds another mag cylinder, for a total of 7.

The range rod shows that the six original cylinders work well in the 1-1/8 and the 1-5/8. The new cylinder from the 1-5/8 has 1 or two chambers that don't line up well in either mini.

As it turns out, I can't run the range rod down the barrel of the Black Widow. It gets halfway down and sticks. I tried cleaning it, using a wire brush in it, till it was as clean as possible. The rod still didn't go down the barrel.

So . . . I decided not to send in the Black Widow and the new 1-5/8 mini. I put the slightly off new cylinder in the black widow and sold it. I know it shoots okay because I used the cylinder in the black widow. I just know it's not quite right.

So now I'm down to 2 minis. Since I didn't carry the BW, it's no great loss. I was thinking about replacing it though.

I found the BW bulkier than the minis, and I could feel the difference in my pocket. It occurred to me that if I had my druthers I'd take a mini with a 2" or 2-1/4" barrel.  I still think the mini is their best design.

Do you think they would make me one? or even better, replace the barrel on my 1-1/8 with a 2" one?

Maybe an NAA Sheriff would fit your needs?

If NAA will custom build one to your spec's it would be very cool and definitely post photos!  :)

Would you consider the Pug? Black Widow frame type with shorter barrel.

Thanks Smokeless,
Here a pair of long barrel minis made in Spanish Fork.

These are a little longer than the 2" Magnum he would like to have done custom. But they sure are pretty!

Uncle_Lee's sure looks sharp with the white grips  :)

I need to carry my Buntline more often  ;)

Cross Draw works well, it needs to go in the "winter rotation" of EDC

I love all the shades of brown.
The shape makes makes me feel good.
Dog Gone It.....
If I used that holster, it would be considered "concealed" because it would be under skin.

In the last year I have lost over 50 pounds and the skin on an old person don't tighten up quick. Like emptying out a grass sack of corn then dropping the sack on the floor.

I get tired of the bruises on the back of of my hands, most of which I have no clue how they happened. Only have one at the moment, though.
The forum sure is quiet again. Your post and this one are the only ones today, now 6:25 PM.

You may be getting old and "thin skinned". Right now I have what looks to be bruises on both arms. I know how they got there. I rubbed against something. The elbows are the most bumped areas. I rubbed against the bathroom door striker (?) and tore a place in the skin. It will take at least a month for that to heal.
Just one of the curses of living so long.

I hadn't considered the sheriff. It might do. I'm guessing I could have the barrel cut back 1/2" if necessary.
Your buntline looks great too. Do you know how much the buntline weighs? Finding one looks difficult.

Uncle Lee is dead on about the bruises. Now that I am an old geezer (no where near Uncle Lee's age!) little things that I would have never noticed when I was middle aged leave bruises. Cuts too - I use a lot of band aides!

If you are going to modify  a Mini, then the 2.5" Sidewinder is also an option.

barrytheprof

Thanks Dinadan. The Sidewinder was in the running along with the sheriff. They both come in at 7.7 oz. An extended mini should come in at 7.1 oz by my calculation. I've played with my neighbor's sidewinder, and I think I prefer the removable cylinder style of the minis and sheriffs.

Dinadan

Barry - good luck with your quest to find the Mini that is perfect for you. Perfection is not easy to find in this world.

barrytheprof

It's easy to look for perfection when you've already got 'pretty darn good'. I love my 1-5/8 mini. It fits in my pocket so neatly that I can forget about it all day. It's a little gem. But if I can get something with a little more velocity (longer barrel) that's not much heavier and fits well in the pocket . . . so much the better. If not, at least I checked it out.

Uncle_Lee

OK, time for more thread drift.
Without pictures it ain't so.
So here are a couple of pictures of thin skin.
I removed an old VCR and its wiring from the entertainment center.
Just rubbing and pressing on the hard surfaces did this.

Tell us the truth - you caught yourself into bar fight, right?!

P.S. Be safe anyway :)

A stack of shoe boxes toppled over.... :D

For any of you that don't have this problem, you likely will eventually, and it's not fun. That thin skin breaks easy too, and over a vein can bleed quite a bit .

Please, don't tell me. I am still too young!

Uncle_Lee

It takes a looooooong time for a skin tear to heal.
Bleeds? Like a water hose.

With a bar fight I either went to jail or the hospital.
With this, I just sat down in my recliner.
