Love my NAA Mini with the folding grip!

My pistol has the 1.125" Barrel and my question pertains to accuracy.

I am by no means a gifted marksman but, that said, I can shoot 2" to 4" groupings with my S&W MP 9 (full size) so I'm not a miserable shot either.

With my NAA Mini with 1.125" barrel I'm very inaccurate.  Now, I don't expect to drive nails with such a short barrel but at 7 yards I sometimes miss the entire target.  With some experimentation I discovered that most of the rounds where hitting the target 6" to 8" from where I was aiming, almost always to the left.

I'm curious, has anyone been able to shoot somewhat accurately with 1.125 barrel or is just inherently inaccurate? (or do I just suck that badly  ;D)

Welcome Big Man,
You came to the right spot.
Those who can help you are here. Good group of folks.
I would suggest getting a set of Cvang grips. The revolver is more steady while you are shooting it.

Not much bigger in size but helps hit what you want to hit.

The Mini Master and Black Widow grips are wonderful also.

I have the same gun. I shoot mine strong hand or weak hand.  Start shooting closer and work out in distance.  Close I point shoot.  It will come together.  I put over sized grips on but shoot better with folding grip. This is a close distant gun.  Just practice.  Good luck.

Welcome BigManDan shooting consistently with these mini's takes a good deal of time and your gripping the gun has to be consistent also . As you well know a fraction of an inch with any gun means missing by a mile so to say and with mini's the closeness doesn't change the missing . Some trust using a laser but don't let your life depend on it . Get grips that your real real happy with for beginners and go from there . Myself if I have to face a perk (without a weapon) I plan on sticking my mini up his freaking nose , mouth or ear for full affect , thats just me , oh carry alcohol to wipe any red stuff off you from any spray  . ;) ;)

Welcome BigMan to the forum. These little gems can be quite accurate once one gets the hang of them. First is usually that most try and use the rear notch as a rear sight; this ends up placing rounds quite low as in your description. If doing so, try using the top of the frame lined up with the base of the front sight instead. Doing so will usually take care of any elevation problems.

As stated by OV; try some larger grips instead of the Birds Head grips. This will usually allow one to grip better and a better trigger pull. This may help with your windage problem.

Thanks guys!  I appreciate the helpful comments.  I am optimistic now that I can learn to shoot my mini accurately.

Some of you suggested a put larger grips on the pistol.  I am currently using the folding grip which is fairly large so I would think that would satisfy the larger grip suggestion, or no?

Again, thanks!

I'm with Uncle_Lee,  get some  different grips (vs. the "Holster Grip" AKA "Floppy Wobblers")  ;)

The Mini Master or Black Widow grips work well

But the CV Revision Grips are some of the best!  http://www.revisioncv.com

BTW Welcome to the Forum!

Here are some Revision CV Grips

Any two finger grip makes the NAAs more shootable, for sure. The downside is the grips being bigger make it less concealable. In PA, if any part of the gun is visible it is not considered properly concealed, so folders are questionable. Your choice. For me I chose more shootable, as if I could not shoot it well, it did not matter if I carried it.  ::)

For me I found the type of grip made all the difference in the world for accuracy.  I have a folding grip on my 22LR 1 1/8.  What will happen over time is that a "comfort factor" occurs with the grip and overall size of the handgun.  When that happens accuracy rises.  Not being concerned about holding the handgun or anything else other than sighting does wonders.  It's the same with any handgun, but more so for something as light and small as the NAA 22lr 1 1/8.

I'm with you!  I love my NAA Black Widow with the folding grip!  Two keys for me were (1) getting the Black Widow, that actually has SIGHTS, and (2) lots of practice with the folding grip and TGTP (tiny gun trigger pull).  The first is self-explanatory.  The 2nd needs a little explanation.  Mine came with the black rubber chubby grips.  Even though I had actual sights on this BW model, I was still having accuracy problems.  I swapped my chubby grip to the folding grip and found that the folder fit my hand better than the chubby grips.  Everyone's got different preferences.  I found I could better index the folding grip much better than the "comfortable" chubby grips on my draw.  After practicing (admittedly, quite a bit) I got to the point where I grabbed the folder the exact same way every single time, and was sure I pulled the trigger STRAIGHT BACK (not using "too much finger" or "too little finger" on the trigger) every single time.  Those two things were key for me.  Once my grip was reliable/consistent and my trigger control was as well, my accuracy substantially improved.  The Black Widow with folding grip always goes with me on hikes and camping trips.  It's a convenient little CCW gun and a fun little plinker!

I have about the same setup, a Mini-Mag with short barrel and folding grips.  I find these grips give great control as well as serving as a nifty clip-on (or not) holster.  My advice is similar to others: practice.  Try sighting like a shotgun - look down along the top of the top strap until you see the bead.  Less bead, lower hit, and vice-versa.  Remember the old adage (revised for accuracy): "Practice makes permanent."  Good luck, and count on your friends on the forum not to lead you too far astray.

I purchased the BW as my first NAA and found the adj sights worthless; but the grips fine. I changed the sights to fixed (some what less than perfectly), and liked it better. I have no problems with the original grips and even have a set for my Wasp 1 5/8". But in reality, I like wood, so I began messing with making wood grips (see pics below). My current ones (last pic) incorporate the finger grooves of the original BW grips , but expose the backstraps, making them a little smaller. For me, the less extra moving parts, the better.
