I've had this gun for a few years (Phoenix Arms .22lr)

I thought it would be ok for a tool box gun or something to stick under the work bench within reach. (I have 2 or 3 guns on me, why have another under every bench? I asked myself) :)

I think it was under $100.00 when I bought it. I just don't care for the gun. It has so many safety features on it I feel like I need to relearn how to shoot it every time I've had it at the gun range.  :o

While talking to a friend on the phone this week he told me he picked one of these up new and liked it, I asked him if he would be twice as happy if he had two?  ;)

He said he would buy it from me as long as I made him a Holster for it  :(  I wanted to get rid of it so bad I agreed!  :o

I hope you charged double the price. The holster is probably worth as much as the gun! 😀😀

OH BOY,,,, More for the "Rick's Holsters" file.
Those sure make the coffee go down easy.
I love the looks of those Phoenix Arms pistols. But they get bad reviews from everyone. At least from those that have one.
They are made in 22LR and 25acp.
You can get the 22lr with a (I think) 5" barrel but not the 25acp. If the 25acp came with the long barrel, I would have one or two.

I've read that it's not a bad shooting gun, it's just all the safeties, and there are ways to undo some of that.

I always thought Jennings Arms and Phoenix Arms were the same company but under different managements . There are clear differences I see for sure .

Didn't they somehow merge and become Jimenez Arms? And I understand they're in some sort of legal problem?

The gun was $102.00 a few years ago. (not sure how much they are now) The Holster would have been $130.00 if he ordered it from me.

I was happy that a friend bought it and he was happy to pay $150.00 for the Gun and Holster, I was fine with building him a Holster for it. He was my supervisor for 15 years when we worked for State Farm.

Thank you Uncle_Lee!!  :)
You might check if the .25acp is available in the longer barrel. I did one for a customer but don't remember what caliber it was.

I bypassed the Mag safety with a part from eBay that was a stock part that the guy filed down a spot in it. Cost was $15.00 it's a $6.00 part from Phoenix Arms but I didn't know how much to file off to make it work right. It fit and works perfect so there is one less "safety item" on this gun  ;)
I kept the stock part incase it ever needed warranty work. Don't send it in with a modified part!
These are known for the frame cracking after a number of rounds (not sure of that number 3000 to 5000?) but the company does install a new frame under warranty.

Not sure about that. It would take some research that I'm not going to do! lol!! They look similar  ;)

Last I knew Phoenix Arms is still a "stand alone" company but, research could tell the actual tale  ;)

I did some research, and the companies are all tied together.
The owner of Raven Arms, George Jennings, retired in 1991 and sold out to his ex-wife who started Phoenix. His son had started Jennings in 1978. He went bankrupt in the Eighties and reorganized as Bryco but kept both names. Jennings/Bryco went bankrupt in 2004, and a totally unrelated investor named Jimenez took over their molds and tooling. Jimenez went bankrupt in 2020 and reorganized as JA Industries.

Raven became Phoenix. Jennings became Bryco, which became Jimenez.
Phoenix and Jimenez, just barely, are still here. All started by the Jennings family.

https://www.phoenix-arms.com/ Jimenez doesn't even have a website. Their home page is on Facebook.

Phoenix sells a "2 In 1" kit for the HP22A that includes the longer 5 inch barrel and a magazine with an extended finger rest.
They also have a "Deluxe Range Kit" with the 3 inch gun, extra 5 inch barrel, regular and finger rest mags, and cleaning gear in a plastic case. A standard "Range Kit" has the gun with only the 5 inch barrel, finger rest mag and cleaning gear in the same case.
Just the gun is about $175 in black or nickel. Deluxe kit is $225.

I have searched for a 5" .25acp and alas it is not made.

I have one in .25 acp. It has so many safety features because it's made in Ontario, California, Lol.
I've never actually shot it, it's more of a novelty for me. If the frame cracks you get a new one? I didn't know they had that warranty actually. Not bad for a $150 gun then. Hi-Point has an excellent warranty as well, and it's a $200 gun. I wonder how Taurus' warranty is.

Rick_Jorgenson

They are supposed to be very good about having warranty work done.

Mine will be taking a trip to my friends house soon. He was so afraid someone else would buy it he sent me the money! lol!!

Thats not a gun I show anyone! lol!! It would have just stayed in the back, on the bottom of the gun safe for another couple of years! lol!
