I ordered 2 Sidewinders under NAA's Earlybird Program. I see 4 possibilities:
1. the Sidewinder is a wild success. I have a couple of safe queens with choice serial numbers for collectors if I need the cash.
2. the Sidewinder is a moderate success. I got mine before the crowd and have good serial numbers for collectors if I decide to sell them.
3. the Sidewinder is a failure and the model is discontinued. See my 2 on gunbroker.com - the bidding starts at $2500.00.
4. the "preppers" turn out to be correct. I have 2 hide-out guns to take on the road while fleeing the Obama-Zombie Apocalypse.

I was slightly disappointed at the delay in distribution, but that's a risk in being a pioneer buyer. It turned out to be an advantage as I used my credit during the delay to stock up on hi-capacity magazines for a couple of my other guns due to the November Presidential disappointment.

Thank you, Sandy, for a win-win-win-win situation with a side-order of serendipity.

Zippo, I'm in the exact same boat. Sorry to hear about your mom. The last 90 days have been tough here too. It's going to be a difficult Christmas for us. God bless you and your family.

Andy, my prayers also go out to you in you in your time of need. Thank you for the well wishes, it's greatly appreciated!!

Back in the early 80's when I was always getting the latest, greatest software from the developers (as a computer store manager)...
I would complain like anyone about the buggy code and having to wait for bug fixes to stop crashing.

Another store manager commented: "You can always spot the Pioneers... They are the ones with their face in the mud, and arrows in their back!" ::)
"It is a lesson of history that it is ethically, morally, and philosophically impossible to have too many personal weapons, whether they be edged, impact or projectile."

That is weird, Tocsn40. Did your dealer swipe it and skip the country?  :-\

Maybe you'll get yours Monday, too.

I'm admittedly a newbie on this board, but...

1) I looked in vain on this thread for an apology to the board from OV-1D about the terrible character of his postings and the wording he used.  Sorry, wish it were so, and I certainly hear the kind words from the Padre.  That being said, I still want no more of it, so I finally figured out how to use my "Ignore list" to good effect.  Sorry, I'm only human, and have my own failings.

2) I was very appreciative of Sandy asking for our input on his process.  I'm happy to send him an email about it.  I too would have appreciated getting one of the earliest "Early Birds", but will be happy getting a Christmas present, as Jessica has informed me.  OTOH, I'm kinda glad that my own shipment has been delayed while they work out the bugs in production.  As a former software developer (among many other things), I'm never anxious to get the first version of anything. :-)
Cheers,
the (old) soldierboy

Tocsn40 - thank you, but actually I was just having some fun with OV-ID. And Heyjoe, I know you are in New York, but since you are/were a fireman, I try real hard not to hold it it against you. If you built motocycles now ...

Just want to be clear - I really have nothing against NY, just playing around!

OV-1D

You know I get to thinking  I have all these threads  and posts down pat, and then, it gets all cloudy again.

ploughboy

I will be in line for the next early bird, maybe reintro the breaktop. It is well worth the wait and delays. Sandy has been up front and timely with updates. Yes it is hard to wait, part of being an adult is you don't always get your wants without putting in the time.
I did recieve mine two weeks ago. Well worth the wait.

OV-1D

Nice shoes you got there boone . Hey is that a horn or a half eaten banana behind you .

Heyjoe - I have never been a fireman, except in the Navy where I was sent to firefighting school in Philadelphia; for the rest of my enlistment I was always on the firefighting team on my ships. Never had to face a real fire on ship, fortunately, just drills out the wazoo! But I got enough of a taste of the job to make me respect the folks who do it. I was number one hoseman - I got to hold the nozzle!

boone123

Ov---
Those guys have you on ignore so I thought you could be friends with my busy friend. Maybe you can find something in commen with him.

The thing your looking at in the picture is an old, old powder horn with black powder in it yet.

Cool!  A ship fire has to be a real oven....literally

In NYC that is called the nozzleman. There were companies where most tours you would need  20 years on the job to be assigned the knob (what nozzle is called) .

ive suspected for over a year now that someone at a psychiatric institution was giving this forum out as therapy. we had a few totally off the wall people posting at one time. that seems to have calmed down now since the election.

Heyjoe - I hope no one takes that as a challenge! OV-ID - especially you!

Boone -  just how old is the black powder in that olde horn? I seem to remember reading that the oder stuff was not as stable as the newer mixtures, though I guess that would make it less explosive.

boone123

Dinadan.
Don't know how old , but I have had it for maybe 40 years. Got it the same time as I got a John Henry black powder shotgun, that was probably hand made in the mid 1800s. Maybe I should dump it. Have some old cannon balls with fuse burned off that didn't go off when fired also. Some cannon balls had powder in them. Some didn't. Even have a wooden handled thing with a ring  on it to check cannon balls for go, or no go, as to wether they would fit through the cannon bore. Was told it came from the Revolutionary war  period.
