Now that I'm retired I try to walk at least 2 miles every day. On my return back home the other day I saw my neighbor down the street, a Marine vet (he has flags out) in the driveway so stopped to visit. First thing I noticed was he had a 4 inch Mini-Master holstered at his side.
(Kansas has open carry) I showed him my cross draw holstered Pug and we seemed to hit it off from there. Turns out he was at Quang tri Vietnam same time as my cousin.
Before we departed I asked him why he carried the Mini-Mag and he said because it is efficient and accurate enough to carry as self defense
with 45 grain Hornady Critical Defense ammo.  ;)
You may not need it but should have it.

And they say Marines aren't smart ;) - good on him !

It would be fun if you found another chap nearby that had a Black Widow!

You could all go to the range and try all 3 sizes of the "Square Barrel" NAA's  ;)

I've "converted" convinced people to pick up a Mini Master after loaning mine to them to go shoot.

(Right Ken?) lol!!

Yes Rick is a Master Enabler.  He lures you in and grooms you then he puts one of these little long barreled NAA's in your hand and says hey take it home and shoot it.

An innocent old guy takes it and tries it.  It shoots VERY nice and it matches the Black Widow he just convinced you to pick up at a great deal.  Well then you find a Mini Master on Gun Broker with no bids and you place a low ball first bid.  Then 3 days later you get the Congrats you WON e-mail...

Well now this is where Rick is waiting.  Yep have to place an order for a new holster to haul this little (Long) NAA around.  While it is longer than the Black Widow it still carries very easily.  It is an Armadillo killing machine I can say that!

The slender roughout holster I use in the winter for the inside coat pocket of several of my Carhart style jackets. It fits in many of my coats and carries very well.
The belt holster you do not even know it is there.  No pulling your pants down like larger autos seem to do.

Thanks Rick for this infection you shared.  Think I'll start calling it the Phoenix Flu!

I've seen his leather can be very addictive, and there's no vaccine... ::)

It's a "Leather Plague" from Phoenix AZ  ;)

Or, a STD that you can enjoy and let your friends borrow on occasion to try to see if they want one :o

Always cool to meet a new neighbor like that. I usually walk 1.6 miles around my neighborhood early in the morning. I sometimes talk to folks who are out early, but none of us openly carry.

Anvil

I reckon it needs to be legal before you see them carrying firearm's in the open. No license require here for that thank goodness.
You may not need it but should have it.

Actually I live in a quiet peaceful town and probably have no need to use open carry, but then..... ::)

If "outsiders" see someone carrying in the open, it may stay a safe and peaceful neighborhood.
Carrying around your yard and in the area that you live, I think that is good.
In a big store, no I don't do that. It is just a way to end up in a screaming match with a bunch of liberals. If you seek that kind of attention, go for it.
Rand Paul, a Kentucky Senator, was attacked last year in his yard while raking leaves. Broke a couple of ribs, punctured a lung, and other injuries.
He said that he would be carrying from now on while cleaning the yard.

Anvil,
So nice to have a neighbor like that!!!

Uncle Lee,
I pretty much agree with you about open carry in stores. However,on occasion, while down south,I have had folks come up to me and thank me for carrying.

I don't carry in stores either but the other day I saw a 1911 holstered on a shopper in a Kroger grocery store and I immediately felt safer.

How did you know he was a good guy? You didn't.

Well bearcatter actually I did! He kept it holstered, didn't look suspicious and didn't flaunt his side arm whatsoever.
A bad guy doesn't usually load up his cart with groceries before turning assassin.
Just say'n.
