Hello,

After purchasing the NAA 22 Magnum I noticed that the hammer does not go all the way into the safety slots on the cylinder.
Same concern as someone else described in this thread on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/handguns/comments/mcg8cg/brand_new_north_american_arms_mini_revolver/

After searching for more pictures and videos where a closeup view of the 22 Magnum in the safety position may be seen, I noticed that they all seem to be like that. Can any other 22 Magnum owners please confirm this?
Is this really normal or is it something to worry about?
Has it been addressed on new models? Mine is an old stock Magenta edition model.

I just sent an email about it to NAA as well so I will see what they say, but I also wanted to hear from other 22 Magnum owners.

On the NAA 22 Short revolver that I own the hammer goes all the way into the safety slots perfectly. I was surprised to see that it does not rest against the frame on the Magnum.

Thank you for looking.

Welcome to the board !

FWIW, my current Black Widow, and several other Mini's I had before it, all accepted the hammer nose into the slot(s).

IIRC, early Mini's had no cylinder safety slots for the hammer nose (but I could easily be in error)

Be careful if you follow the masses - Sometimes the M is silent

Thank you.
Here is the reply I received from NAA:

Hello ***,
I'm sorry for the confusion about the safety notch. With our cylinders if the hammer is in the safety notch properly the cylinder will not spin to a live round unless you pull the hammer back. The notch isn't cut as deep as it is on a live round so there is a little gap. Hopefully this information is helpful and clears up the confusion.
Feel free to call or email with any other questions or concerns that you may have.

Thank you and have a beautiful holiday season!!

My Pug does exactly what the Reddit post describes. It has been discussed on this forum before. With a properly fitted holster, it isn?t really a problem because the hammer doesn?t move. That?s my experience, at least.
