NAA Shoulder Rig for a Black Widow

I've been asked a lot about doing Shoulder Rigs for the NAA's,  I've resisted doing them until recently.

My resistance was from not being sure of what material to use for the strap?

Not having the time to test some different options didn't move this kind of project ahead... at all!  ;)

And, needing to do another set of patterns for all the different NAA's for the Holster Leather didn't fit in the schedule.  :o

After finding this heavy duty elastic for another project I thought I would try it for a Shoulder Rig. I made a prototype to wear around the shop for a couple weeks and it works well (it was for a snub nose .38 and heavier then any NAA Revolver.)

The elastic is breathable and won't cause you to perspire like nylon webbing and is resistant to rolling into a round shape like thinner Leather would, causing you to feel the strap under your arm.

The 1 inch elastic has some give so it doesn't feel overly confining like an all Nylon or Leather strap would in this configuration.

The first finished Holster Rig for a Client was for a Black Widow.  It has been shipped and I'm anxious to hear feedback on how it works for him.

The "adjustable" part of the strap is Veg-Tan Leather and held with Chicago Screws.  This one is set up for someone that wears and xtra lg t-shirt.

To put it on is like putting a jacket on, one arm at a time then wiggle the straps a little to settle it and flatten any wrinkled material on your shirt.

BTW... The Black Widow in the photos is not for sale (the sexy model can be had for a price!) lol!!

Questions, Comments, Constructive Criticism are always welcome!  Thanks for looking!

It looks real good to me. The elastic crossing higher in the back looks more comfortable than other rigs I've seen.

You're wearing two shirts, and long sleeves !.....Must have dropped below 80*.... :D

Thank you bearcatter!

It is very comfortable. I've seen some that the straps cross up at your neck, that would bother me.

I like it to ride lower.

There was a day last week that the temp only got up to 60f !!   I was pretty sure I was going to freeze to death! lol!

That day I was wearing the 2 shirts, thermo underwear and, 2 pairs of socks too! I had my hoodie with me if I was outside to long  ;)

First off ------ It is good to see you back.

That looks very good. It is not bulky but looks like it is going to work and gentle on the shoulders and neck.

Looks very good Rick. Looks very well designed too. We find that the cross patterned back strap is the way to go when wearing a shoulder holster.

Thank you Uncle_Lee!  :)

I've been neglecting the weekly photo count! Moving shop equipment and building holsters at the same time is like having 2 jobs! lol!

I have been building out the home studio (my messy garage) to work from home (painting, insulating, etc.)  It's starting to come together  :o

The strap material is very comfortable and lays smooth against your body.

Looks great! How about a photo of the prototype with the snub nose in it.

Glad to see you getting the new shop going.

I didn't get any photos of it  :o

It went to a home in Colorado when a friend of mine saw it!

He has 14 or 15 Full-Auto's. I shot a couple of them at his parents range up north over the holidays (Copper Star Indoor Shooting Range)

If you let Rick shoot Full Auto's... You get a Holster! lol!!

Let me know if you want one Ken, I owe you for some other "horse trading" we've done!

its a beautiful  holster and the strap rig  look great. i  love shoulder holsters. the only suggestion i would make is to make the holsters so that they interchangeable with the same straps. quite a few people who use shoulder holsters have multiple guns they would buy a holster for and carry with the same straps.
It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

Great idea!

Rather than stitching the "D" Ring on the Holster, using a Chicago Screw there would make it a fairly quick change without needing to change your adjustments on the straps ;)

Put your "inquiring mind" it ease... It's real  ;D

I'm bald, I just take the hair from my ears and pull it up over my head to make it look like hair on my head  ;)

I couldn't wear it long in the "Corporate world" so this is the extent of my rebellion after leaving it!  ;)
