In other threads the potential issue of rimlock with the use of 32 acp hollowpoints in the Guardian has been brought up a few times. I have my 32acp Guardian since they first came out in 1996? 97?. i use hollowpoints, am not particularly careful loading the magazines, i do it the same as i do other semi autos and have never had rimlock in 26 years. Has anyone actually had rimlock with a 32 acp Guardian? not heard someone had it, have you actually had it?
It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

I never have, but one time I did it on purpose. I just removed the mag base to loosen the spring and clear it.  Having to push the first cartridge over the bump on the follower seems to get things started right.

I've never had rimlock on my Zastavas either. The leftover space with HP is what can get you in trouble.

Isn't it strange that rimlock became an issue with .32 acp only?
I have shot thousands of rounds of .25, .32, and Super 38 auto, and I have seen exactly 1 instance of rimlock in my lifetime.
No one ever even thought about it with .25 acp or the .38 acp.
All of them are semi-rimmed cartridges.

.32acp has a larger rim than .25 or .380 by proportion I've never had a rim lock on my Guardian or P32 using FMJ ball. The only FMJ my Guardian doesn't like is flat nose but never a rim lock issue.

i'll stick with ball for the penetration and the piece of mind.

I seem to recall that the Fiocchi 60-grain 32APHP ammo is on the long side for hollowpoints and is less likely to cause rimlock.

.380 is rimless.
My bad you're right on the .380  Browning probably saw the .32 rim issue and corrected it with the .380 which came later?

I doubt Browning saw any issue with the semi-rims. It's just that accurate chambering on the case mouth became the way to do it.
If there was really a rimlock issue, I would think I would have heard of it in the 1970s instead of the 2000s.

I have ONLY had rimlocks with .32ACP when I purposely loaded the magazines wrong to show how a rimlock works (I've done this with both an NAA Guardian and a Kel-Tec P32) . If you load your magazines carefully and deliberately and the springs are in good shape, you shouldn't experience rimlocks.

You just have to be sure the cartridge is pushed all the way back. With FMJ, if it's not you can't push it down anyway. The nose won't clear the magazine.
