Should partake of the usual Forum Advice on such matters ................. Buy both and do not worry about the quandary.  8)

Well crap. I don't need to read the forum advice as often as I do. At least the buy both part.

The local gun store that I picked up the Sidewinder from sent me an email saying they had a Ranger II in stock at their warehouse.
Price was right and I placed the order. Should be available by the end of the week.

Already placed an order for another pocket holster from Rick.

Sounds like you are on the way to eternal happiness.

You know you are getting up in the years when you have to get a new barber, a new doctor, a new eye doctor, and a new tooth doctor.

So true. My doctor is retiring next month and my eye doctor retired two years ago.
Luckily my dentist is considerably younger than I am and my eye doctor's daughter took over his practice.
But it is a pain to find replacements after being a patient of theirs for over 25 years.

I recommend a lady doctor. With long skinny fingers. Trust me on this.

My barbershop for forty years has finally come to an end with the original barber being old time Marine Sgt. dying off . His son took it over became or was a drunk so he didn't last but a year or two . The Marines wife would not sell the place so getting barbers became a big problem . Some retired guys started coming and going then finally taken over by a questionable fella and still barbers were hard to come by . I started looking for another but all thats popping up around are the "Hair Salons" . I can't find a woman that cuts the hair as a barber WHY I don't know just can't . Found another then another but still women going under the rouse as a barber . One place has a kid in his early twenties and he gets by but can't remember one customer from another even giving him a ten buck tip . Oh by the way costing anything over fourteen bucks I move on . Can't imagine my first hair cut down here was a buck and fourteen bucks is the new norm , The quest goes on . ??? ???

I've cut my own hair for 30 years. Norelco clipper, just set a length and run it all over my head.  I use a small cordless trimmer for the edges and moustache.

When I was in FL with the airplanes, there was a barbershop called Guys And Dolls. Three busty English women in tank tops and shorts. That made getting a haircut a very different experience ! ...  ;D

Quick question on the Ranger II.

Is there a tip on easily finding the safety notch on the Ranger II? I like the markings on the frame for the Sidewinder to line things up and on the standard mini-revolver you can look down through the gap to line things up. But everything is blocked from view on the Ranger II and no frame markings.

Is it just a situation where you hunt for it very carefully?

Okay. Got 'em both now, along with the original 22WMR.
Gotta say, I like the original the best but I've also been carrying it for ten plus years.
Weight and overall size are close enough not to matter, but the original feels more comfortable in the pocket.
Much like an old pair of shoes feels better than the new pair you just brought home.

The Ranger II is by far the easiest to reload and I like the look the best. The action will not pop the spent shells out of the cylinder but does raise them enough to get your fingers on them easier. Once emptied, pop in the new shells, slap the frame back together and you're in business.

I don't like not being able to easily line-up the safety notch. Also the frame is a tad different along the grip. I tried to put my CV grips on the Ranger II and there is about an 1/8th of an inch gap between the grip panels. It looks as if the grip frame is a smidgen wider at the butt. Oddly my Thing Meister grips did fit. I'm sure with a little work with the Dremel, the CV grips will work.

The Sidewinder is the runner up with regards to ease of reloading but by a hair. The extractor pin has to be pulled forward and then you pop out the cylinder. That little pin can be hard to get ahold of and the whole process can be a little tight. It does loosen up after use, but if you're thinking this is going to be as smooth as a full-size revolver, it isn't.

The original design isn't too far behind the Sidewinder as far as reloading. The headache with the original is that if you aren't careful you can get the cylinder a touch out of alignment and the pin just won't seat. You also have to juggle cylinder, pin and shells while reloading. It's not the end of the world but can be a handful. I'd like to see NAA come out with a Colt design where you have the gate at the back of the cylinder and push the spent casings out with a spring loaded rod mounted to the side of the gun.

I feel the need to say that none of these three pocket pistols are designed for speed loading. I speak of ease of loading when at the range. These are "get off me" guns that really are only good for five rounds. I believe I can drop someone to their knees with a NAA revolver but I'm not going to stick around for a prolonged shoot out with them. They create hesitation with the noise and hopefully pain they can generate to allow you to get to safety or a larger firearm.

I can't tell the difference in shooting any of these three NAA models. I am getting tired of the list of "not recommended" ammo continuing to grow. If Critical Defense gets added to the list, I may just start carrying a slingshot in my pocket.

All in all, I like my three amigos. The Sidewinder was an impulse buy due to the price and I've been wanting a Ranger ever since NAA introduced the original. This may have been the third Ranger II that I've seen in the wild and at the time of the previous sightings, I just couldn't afford it.

I'll wait until Thing Meister gets up and running next month to get a better looking set of grips for the Ranger II (these have been tinkered with a lot) and have holsters coming for both new additions from Desert Leather. Not sure if I'll keep carrying the original revolver or one of the new additions. May just start a pocket carry rotation.

If I had to pick only one to keep, it would be a tough call between the Ranger II and the original. The original has the sentimental value but I also have a soft spot for breaktops.

You have done the right thing... you bought both!  ;)

Whats next?  :o

For shooting fun at the range, the Mini Master is a kick! 4 inch barrel and a big fat grip to hold on to!

Or, since you like the break top guns, the 4 inch ranger is one I carry and shoot quite a bit.
