Defensive rounds for BW

Let me introduce myself....I'm 70 years old...still working for the government and have in the past, carried concealed anything from .25 ACP to, believe it or not, .44 Magnum, a couple of times (influenced by Dirty Harry..LOL back in the day). Anyways, at my age, I have a Black Widow with me most of the time.  The idea is to use it for defensive purpose to stop aggression, not necessarily kill. I just watch a lot of You Tube "experts"  do the testing. I've been using Speer Gold Dot .22 WMR, but just ordered some Federal Punch, supposedly better than the Gold Dots from a short barrel.  Now, from what I read, I will be ordering CCI Segmented 46 grains. This is what they call their frangible ammo.  Again, the idea is first 2 shots-frangible, next 3 shots ..Punch.  Those frangibles are impressive in ballistic gel. Become 3 pieces that travel about 8" in a pattern the size of fist in the gel.  I can just imagine it must feel like being stung by a wasp....3 times.  So 2 shots, that's 6 wasps!  Must hurt a lot by now...then the Punch.  Does this thinking makes sense to anybody? Mind you, I'm not a sworn LEO, but do legal work as an investigator. Twice suspects have put aggressive dogs in front of me when confronted....so I need to be ready. What do you think?

I too have seen the tests. I won't be 70 until the end of January. I will stick with Gold Dots in my carry peices, BW and Wasp 1 5/8", and Hornady CD in my 4" barreled Charter Arms "house mouse". 8" of pentration is nowhere near enough. In my rig I carry 10, er 9 rounds of reload. There I carry the last four rounds as Fiochi fmj wadcutters.

One should not rely on pain to stop potentially deadly aggression. It might work, and it might not.
A larger caliber gun such as a Keltec P32 is probably lighter than, and not much bigger than your NAA. Even bigger would be better.
Center of mass shots or head shots should be used.
You aren't trying to kill, you're trying to stop.

I agree with you...bigger is better for defense.  I've got my 9mm for home defense, but for concealed carry, I'm relying on my BW and trying to maximize its potential as a defensive tool.

Apachedan,
Sure the 454 Casull would be a stopper but I doubt that you would have it in your pocket. IMHO,stick with the BW and standard ammo.

I carry my mini with CCI HP rounds and am  confident.

I practice the awareness.avoidance  idea. If I see trouble ahead,I avoid it.

The beauty of the NAA minis is that you would always have one with you while the other larger pieces reside elsewhere.

Would avoid the frangibles and stick with the Gold Dots or Hornady 22 mag defensive rounds.

You can always buy some tracer rounds that burn pretty hot when caught . Not sure if they come in magnum caliber . ;) ;)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

The ballistic gel tests I?ve been seeing with Federal Punch seem to be pretty interesting for such a small gun.  Shoot true to aim from my BW too.
