Too far, or I might go. Vegas is a reasonable drive for me from Utah for the SHOT Show, but not Texas.

It's a pretty far drive! They need to get more regional flights out of Provo that are less expensive.

Florida might just as well as be on the other side of the planet .  Why hasn't there been any east coast NRA gigs like Florida for instance ?

That would be cool! The airport there is pretty close to you guys, isn't it? I've noticed lately the planes coming in lower than usual over my house, then swinging eastward over Utah Lake on approach to Provo. We're also directly under the approach to the SLC airport, but they're generally still pretty high as they go over.

It's only a four hour drive for me but my problem is I'm too easily influenced! My daughter and I attended the convention in Kansas City 2001 and I ended up spending a fortune!
