As of this afternoon, there's a new Sheriff around here.

OV-1D

Real fine looking grips you have there Camo along with the gun of course .  :)  :)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Ozark75

I love the Sheriff, in fact I have two. I have had just about every NAA and the Sheriff is the best (for me).

It's just about been to hot to shoot, but I sure hope to get out late this afternoon and shoot it some. At least to make sure it works.  It's got some big shoes to fill because I really like my B/W.

Was able to get out and shoot the new Sheriff. To be my first time shooting it, I'm well satisfied with results. Started out at 10' then moved back to 15'. One round of snake shot about 6-8'.  Top target was 10' getting feel for the sights. Next target was 15'. Far right was 12' and one shot shell about 6-8'. It's gonna be a keeper.
Ozark75, I can see why you like it so well. It's gonna be fun shooting both it and the B/W.

camo

What do y'all think about me getting another B/W grip to put on the sheriff.

LHB

I am going to say that the decision is up to you, whatever fits best in your hand.
Some people may chime in about the appearance or how it looks, but myself, I am a function over beauty person, and how it works is what is important.   If I have to use my EDC, I'm not going to worry about what it looks like.

Anvil

The Sheriff comes with a good hold 0f rosewood grips in my opinion as does the Earl. That being said, I appreciate the oversized rubber grips on my Pug and .22 Mag Shadow. I reckon it all boils down to how it feels in your hand and how looks for you personally and your preference.
As an example, the oversized grips just don't look proper on my Earl to me.
But then if it all depends on comfort and control, then the oversized grips win.
You may not need it but should have it.

camo

I knew I would change the boot grips that come on it. Had tried them on my B/W before. Hard to explain the thingmeisters. Really like them. Looks and feel good, but something about the angle. I wish they curved more downward. I can't explain things right sometimes. Probably gonna leave them on but if I do change, go with the B/W grips. Like y'all said, they ain't my favorite for looks, but they feel pretty good.

camo

I'm gonna have to put some orange paint or some color on front sight to help me see it better.

LOL! Camo isn't so hidden with orange paint! :)
You may not need it but should have it.

camo

I couldn't do it. I put the B/W grips on the sheriff today to see what it would look like. They just don't look right on it. Put the thingmeister grips back on it.

RogueTS1

If you like the BW Rubber grips but their appearance does not appeal to you ............ use the SS Wooden Grips. They feel every bit as good, if not better in our opinion, and look so much nicer.
Wounds of the flesh a surgeon's skill may heal but wounded honour is only cured with steel.

camo

Rogue, I'll look at them a little closer. Good to see someone else's target picture besides mine. You probably getting tired of mine.

camo

I've got to where I go for function most times over looks, and I would probably get used to the way it looks with the B/W grips. Maybe I should give the boot grips another try.

camo

Ozark75, do you pocket carry your sheriff? If you do, what holster you use. I just put some orange paint on my front sight to help me see it better. Im really liking it.

IWB from Desert Gun Leather.

camo

I've never been able to to comfortably carry IWB, but it was with bigger handguns. I been thinking about talking to Rick about a paddle holster for the sheriff. I like to be able to take on and off easy and the possibility of taking off and putting in a pocket if needed. It might be to thick for that though.

camo

The orange paint is dry on front sight. Hoping to shoot it some this afternoon. All depends on how consultation appointment with oral surgeon goes at 1:00. Got some major (expensive) dental work ahead. Guess I'll find out how expensive today. May need to shoot some to just try to relax.

camo

The orange paint helps. Shot a few rounds this afternoon. The two far right shots are 15' and rest are at 12'. The third top target from left was cci standard velocity and rest are fed auto match. I'm really liking this new sheriff. It's a keeper. Been getting used to carrying it this week. Anybody else doing any shooting?

Anvil

My prostate surgery wasn't near as bad as my dental surgery!
You may not need it but should have it.

camo

Anvil, this dental work ain't gonna be fun for sure. But it's either do it, or be toothless.

top dog

Camo,
Hope all goes well with the dental procedure(s).

This time last year I was in the hospital after I suffered a heart attack. In spite of the best efforts of the hospital staff............................I survived!!!

Best therapy after any medical event is to go out and do some shooting.

After my wife had heart surgery,I would take her out to the range each week and she would shoot her little Henry single shot bolt action youth 22.. Worked wonders for her.

nfortunately, ten years ago last week she passed away.

Hope all goes well with the procedure and then go out and do some shoot/therapy!!!

Thank you top dog. Sorry to hear about your wife, hope you still doing good. My biggest shock has been the cost of this dental stuff. You right about the shooting therapy. I'll have a target set up where I can shoot from my deck, just in case I don't feel like riding Utv behind the house to shoot.

I feel for you Camo!  :(
I'm truly sorry for you loss TD! My lovely bride and I will celebrate 51 years of marriage tomorrow.
Since retiring, I'm amazed how Medicare doesn'tcare about or cover anything from the neck up. My MD says dental care is a complete travisty! I have what is called severe TMJ (jaw misalignment) for decades and no insurance I've ever had will cover the remedy procedures.
I reckon living in this world is all at the mercy God's plan. My sister lost a beloved child at 6 months old and our dear mom is still sharp as a whip at 102 years young! :o
Sorry all! I t appears I've gotten way off the original topic.
As Barney Fife would say , The high sheriff.
You may not need it but should have it.

camo

Congratulations Anvil on 51 years. I'm about 4 months ahead of you. 51 years this past March. Have you been able to do any shooting lately?

Anvil

Congrats to you Camo! Sticking together for this many years is a tribute to love, endurance and sacrifice!
I've been out on the range recently shooting all my NAA's with paper plates at 15 feet but didn't even think of taking pics when you are just having fun.
The Earl did very well and the others did okay but the .22 short not so much. I had a tough time holding onto it.
Who would think the smallest would be the hardest? ::)

You may not need it but should have it.

Eight years ago, almost on the same day as my wife passed, two years earlier,my daughter passed away. Shoe would have been 65 last September.

Yeah, dental costs are very high, you might just thing that is their 1-800 phone number on the bill!!!

Get out there and shoot either from your deck if you can or go on the ATV for a ride "outback".

I don't miss to many days that I don't shoot at least a few rounds. It might just be a shot at a pine cone, or even a leaf. Anything a little different looking that catches my eye. Just shoot from the utv. Plus now shooting the sheriff to break it in.

top dog

Camo,
Good that you can get out and bust some caps each day if possible.

Keeps you active and gets the guns in shape.

camo

This heat slows me down some. I don't shoot as much during the summer.

top dog

Camo,
I agree with you on that, The heat does sap the strength out of you.

Not too pleasant to be  out there trying to shoot when the sweat is running into your eyes.

Hopefully it will cool down somewhat so you can get to go out.

camo

It was overcast off and on yesterday, so I shot several rounds with the sheriff. About to get used to the sights compared to the B/W. Its been my edc the last couple weeks.

top dog

Camo,
Glad that you were able to get some shots in with your new Sheriff.

It is either the BW or PUG that are my EDCs.

camo

Top Dog,
Have you been able to do any shooting? I think I have the sight picture down now on the sheriff. Just been used to the B/W sights for so long. But I think now I'll be able to switch back and forth with no problem.
