Camo,
I go to the nearby outdoor range about twice a week weather permitting.

I set up the targets at true SD distances (about 12 ft or less).

On the BW,I removed the rear sight and filled the void in with a blank.

I just use the front sight, level to the bbl and it works fine for me.

Ahoy Camo!
Really liked seeing your target results - many thanks for sharing!!  I am curious as to which brand of snake shot you used:  Federal  / CCI (with the #12 shot), or one of the new (and impossible to find) Aguila RATA rounds (with #10 shot)?
I've been fortunate to have only needed to eliminate one rattler with one of my mini's (a rather aggressive one that wouldn't get off of my patio), and it took two rounds of the CCI LR shotshells to make it stop moving.  I was wondering if using a heavier shot load would make a difference.  Thx!

Top Dog,
Sounds like you may be shooting as much if not more than me. You've got me mostly shooting at 10' 12' and 15' nowadays. Up until you suggested shooting closer, I was shooting more 10 and 15 yds. not as much fun. I haven't been shooting handguns to many years, always been a rifleman. But for a while I thought I had to shoot like 15-25 yards. If I'm gonna be shooting 25 yds, I'll have to use my rifle. I have to use and ol walking cane more nowadays. Carrying the B/W and now the Sheriff, is lot easier than the rifle or shotgun. Although I like keeping my 410 close. If not raining, its usually in gun rack on UTV.

top dog

Camo,
I too use a cane most of the time.and have developed shooting techniques and positions with the cane.

Just because a person is slightly handicapped does not mean that they have to be potential victims.

Good that you take the 410 along in the ATV.

I've got a few OWB holsters from Rick. I'm thinking about getting a paddle holster, and if I do will get from Rick again. Anybody have any advice, pros and cons, on a paddle holster. Rick, when you see this, what can you tell me.

top dog

Camo,
As you know,Rick makes superb holsters and I am sure that he will give you the best advise.

I guess it basically comes down to what is most comfortable for you.

Let us know what choice you make.

I like the paddle holster to be able to take it on and off easy if I needed to. But on other hand I don't have to take my holster on and off to often. Would have been nice Friday morning when I forgot and went in the courthouse.

top dog

Camo,
Trouble is with those minis, one tends to forget that they have them on.

Hope all went well with the courthouse.

Nothing bad happened. No big excitement. I've done it before with gun and pocket knife. Just soon as I walked in the door and saw metal detector it hit me. Security guard didn't even have to ask. Said no problem, just take it back out and leave it in your truck. You right top dog, its so comfortable and carry it everywhere, its so easy to not think about it.

LHB

Remember story from years ago about man in southern Illinois serving on jury duty, forgot he had his mini with him, stretched, and prosecutor asked him if he thought that thing on his belt buckle was worth carrying, and the judge replied that he had one just like it at home.

Nice to see that common sense does prevail in some cases.

But as we all know, common sense is not so common anymore.

Everyone has their own idea on what "common sense" means.

Uncle Lee,
That is so very true.

The real trouble with "common sense" is that there is only one ultimate right way and so many wrong ways which people follow without using "common sense" . Does that make sense ?  ;)  ;)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Common sense is a personal judgement.
Everyone has their own opinion of what is common sense on an issue. If their opinion is different, then they are lacking in the common sense department.

I have yet to hear anyone - anyone - say that they have no common sense but they are quick to judge the person who disagrees with them as to having no common sense.

Republicans say that about Democrats and Democrats about the Republicans.

Ralph Waldo Emereson once said...Common sense is a genious dressed in working clothes. :D
You may not need it but should have it.

top dog

Anvil,

That is very good!!

I think it was Einstein who once said     Genius has it's limitations, stupidity does not.

I try to get to the outdoor range twice a week if possible.

I keep the shooting distances realistic, about ten feet or so.

                                       Top Dog

camo

Top dog, you've got me shooting shorter, more realistic ranges now. I mostly shoot 10' 12' and 15'   I will shoot 7 yards some but not as much anymore. And every now and then a couple shots at 10 yards. Longer than that, I might as well shoot a rifle.

top dog

Camo,
Good to see that you are getting some good practice in.

A number of folks, obviously not those on this forum, get their permits. Buy the gun and put it away, probably to still languish in it's box unused.
