I just heard about this handgun sized at 50% of the original. I imagine they were very limited and expensive.
It's really a clever idea however.
I for one would love to have a Freedom Arms 2008 sized at 50% in .22 lr or 22 mag!
How cool would that be? ::)

You may not need it but should have it.

Anvil,
I think it was in the late 50's that Colt offered a matched pair of single shot derringers in 22 short.

From the ads,it looked like they were gold plated.

They were gold plated, pot metal (of some kind), 22 short. It didn't take much to break the frame.

They were made to look at only. But they were a firearm.

I have one of those. They were sold singly or in pairs called "The Lord and Lady" derringers.
They were made for Colt by Butler, I think.
My dad bought this one used at a gun show for $20 about 45 years ago.

Armybrat,
Yep,that's the one!!!

I remember at about that time,High Standard was offering their 22 double action revolvers in frames of different anodized colors

The actress Jayne Manfield had a High Standard Sentinel in pink and Chick Gaylord of New York City had made a holster especially for her.

The Colt 1861 Centennial pistol was a single shot-though it looked like the old cap and ball revolvers.
