I think a 3" barreled NAA could go in your pocket.

Here is one for the Earl.

I am reaching the limits of MS Paint.  This has been done by Cut & Paste with guestimations on the dimensions.  If you look closely, the BW grip was pasted on at the incorrect angle and I lopped off part of the sight.  (You get what you pay for, this was done for free.)  Not ready to invest in a CAD system (accurate scaling and rotate) or Photoshop just yet.  This is for my own curiosity and let the NAA fans have an example to say, "Build this one!".

I copied in a BW and used it to scale the SW barrels down to about 2" (maybe a bit longer).  The set of lines at the muzzle were used to gauge the length.  The forward line is the original length.  Note: The original topic was "4 inch Sidewinder barrel".

Here are three versions of the SW barrel lug.   The nice part about selling a 2" SW with the same sights is the cost to NAA is really small.

I like the 2nd from the top.

Kevin - sorry if I sounded critical of your images - I was just thinking about what I would like NAA to build. Nice work again. The next to bottom image (above the BW) is exactly what I would like to see offered in 2" barrel. And a 4" barrel for those who want it. Heck, NAA might as well make a 3" barrel Sidewinder too! I would buy either the 2" or 3"  version, probably not the 4" model.

Wolfar - my 3" Earl will fit in some of my trouser pockets. However, it seems a bit awkward to draw and bring into play compared to my shorter barreled minis. Others may not find it so. I do like to carry it occasionally in a vest or coat pocket as an extra.

No offense taken.  It inspired me to improve the images and document the known flaws.   ;D
I wasn't sure if NAA measures the barrel length from the forcing cone or the front of the frame to the muzzle.  Anyone that wants to modify those images to be 2, 3, or 4" long barrels is welcome.  It wouldn't be that hard.

I'm kind of partial to the second to the top.
The only reason I see to make a 4" barrel is to skip California's crazy testing procedure.

3 inch barrel looks then best to me

Uncle Lee,    Would 32 long or 32 short work in an NAA?  Seems the 32 ACP has that rim and half moons and stuff.

Wolfar

I guess it would not fit well in the pocket then....  :(

How about a side winder with some nice dove tail sights like the black widow. I love the black widow, its very accurate on steel at all ranges. Just picked up a sheriff, love it, but hate the sights. I was totally gung hoe on a side winder until I purchased the sheriff. The sights are OK, but the sights on a black widow are more like a full size gun. If the sidewinder, 4" barrell, comes with nice dove tail sights, Im in, if not, Ill stick with the lcr 22. Check out this single 10 too, big fun.

I wonder if ultimately the longer barrel SW will eliminate the BW.  Assuming better sites are an option.

The rim on the 32 S&W would mean that the cylinder would have to be bigger. It is hard to find them also.

On the regular mini there is no extractor therefore there would be no need for the moon clips. It could face on the case mouth. Like the 9mm in a Ruger Blackhawk.

The cylinder on the 32acp mini would be smaller in diameter and the ammo is easy to come by.

I never thought of that.  Let's go with the 32 acp.  How about a three-shot to make it smaller?

Uncle_Lee

Then we get into the "carry on an empty chamber" debate.

I started carrying a single action back in the 50's and still carry on an empty chamber (no I don't carry the same one). Too old to change now.

If it is a 3 shot and I carry on an empty chamber then it becomes a 2 shot derringer. Might as well buy a Davis 32acp derringer for 1/4th the cost.

I shoot black powder replicas.

Some of the replica Remington 1858s have the safety slot between chambers. I still load 5.

Some of the Colt replicas have a "safety pin" between chambers. I still load 5.

Revolvers with the transfer bar, I load to the top. The ones without, I let the hammer down on an empty chamber. It's just me. Everyone should do as they wish.

Kevin, nice work. Personally, I don't like the look of the longer or slanted lugs. I like the first versions (current lugs) that you posted more. I think because they remind me a little more of the old Freedom Arms models that I like so much...a bit less modern than full or slanted lugs.

About Photoshop...keep in mind that you don't have to spring for the big dollar PS programs. PS Elements can usually be had for under a hundred bucks. It is a massively powerful editing program that most people will never outgrow.

You can do 'WAY' more with it than you'd ever imagine. In fact, with the free add-ons that can be found online, it can be set up to nearly rival the full version.

Thanks AJR.   I'll look into PS elements.

Re: barrel lugs.   I think everyone likes what they are familiar seeing.   A 686 (and Mini-Master), SP101 (and Black Widow), Freedom Arms, etc.

Speaking of sights, NAA seems to have a new set of sights for each model.  I noticed the front sight on the new Sidewinder is a post and the rear sight is longer.   The Wasp has a front post and the original 22 mag rear sight.

For a 2" sidewinder, using the same post and notch sights as the 1" would be the most cost effective way to get out another model and would be most concealable.

Kevin,

I see PS Elements 11 going for 70 to 80 bucks in a few places (Newegg and B&H). Keep in mind, I still use a very old, tricked out version of Elements 2 for most of my editing, restorations and retouching, even though I have PS CS3. Elements just works so much faster on my PC.

Just so you know, you can go to Adobe's site and download free trial versions (fully functioning) of the software.

I agree why the extra weight of the lug or the huge barrel of the Minimaster.   See below the simple lines of the freedom arms boot or the old NAA long barrel before the black widow.   Just nicer I think.   Give me the current lug with thin barrel.

Kevin55

Is the NAA 22mag with the brown grip a 2" model?   Looks like the same barrel profile as the Sidewider, other than the front sight and extractor lug.   Thanks for adding the image.

Actually, if I could buy any NAA, it would be that one on the middle (brown grips) with Cvang grips.  However, living in Kalifornistan, that will never happen. (Or I'd have to get really lucky and find a private seller in CA.)  I am not as interested in the Sidewinder design as I am in the possible importation to CA of a 2" barrel version.  We can get the 22lr and 22mag with 1-1/8 inch barrels only.  I guess the 4" barrel Mini-Master might be available too.

My main motivation to buy a NAA 22lr was I figured it would eventually be banned in CA or NAA would get tired of the non-sense required to sell them in CA.  (As Kel-Tec has done.)

The middle gun with the walnut grip is an old Spanish Fork 2.5 inch barrel Mag.  You don't see many of them.
