I just recently discovered
Mossberg pump shotguns have two different ways to secure the
barrel to the magazine tube. Is this fairly new or have I been
missing this. I ain't liking it. I think it's a ploy, to sale
more guns.

Wumbey,
What are the two methods??

Are they listed/shown in the Mossberg website??

I have three Mossberg shotguns and am totally satisfied with them.

One has the nut attached to the barrel. The other
has a ring that slides over the magazine tube, then a separate
nut screws on the tube. I think there are two different variations of the tube rings that makes three different types
Of barrel retaining variants.

There are two different set ups for Mossberg pumpguns. The 590 series uses the ring and separate nut while the 500 series uses a set up where the magazine tube nut is attached to the barrel ring. They have been like this for at least  the last 25 years ............... probably longer. The two series' barrels are not interchangeable.
