I carry a Pug

Sorry if I have posted this before if so it's been a while.
I live in a small town in Kansas of 8,000 population but that said we are not a crime free town.
Theft, assualts and robbery exists in almost every town and city and ours is included. The wife and I take a walk daily since retirement in one of our public parks. I've been known to carry the NAA shorty in my jeans watch pocket on a regular basis since in Kansas the laws are very liberal.
However when we walk in the park I always carry my NAA Pug.
Yes, we have had transients, illegal immigrants and homeless vistors even here in our parks!
I have never had an instance to retreive my Pug and hope I never do but it is so reassuring just having it handy if a dire situation should arise.
Personnally I think the 22 magnum would stop any intruder right on the spot!!
No good lawbiding citizen would ever want to shoot someone but still would do so to defend self, family and property!
You may not need it but should have it.

Just remember Anvil shooting because of property damage in the eyes of the law is not a justifiable shooting offence , its gotta be in meaningful fear of your life and or family's lives . Ambulance chasers will be at your door along with law enforcement . Standard store bought ammo only ,no liquid mercury filled drilled out hollow points either, they make a big mess .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Anvil,

LIke I had said many times before, the beauty if the NAA Minis is that they can always be with you.

Trust me on this, the late Bill Jordan said that the 22 magnum is "a wicked little cartridge"

My 40 years as an LEO underlines that fact.

Bums can get very, very violent. I stopped going to the local park because so many arrived, like rats huddled together boozing and drugging themselves and causing mayhem for citizens just wanting to walk the dog. Wanting no trouble after the last woman was stabbed, I just stopped going there. Makes me sad about it, was a good park.

You should send Harris and Biden a dozen red roses to thank them.

Pocket,
I understand you frustration about not going to the park.  I presume that the police do not handle the situation there???

A woman getting stabbed should bring at least some law enforcement attention to the area.

Maybe if you went to the park in groups of three that may discourage any unwanted attention from the drunks/druggies.

I agree with Uncle Lee's reply.

Today for the first time I packed along my NAA Shorty on our walk in the park. it was easier to carry than the Pug, no holster needed. It fit easely into my jeans watch pocket. Intruders beware! ;)
You may not need it but should have it.

Anvil,

No doubt about it,that shorty is about the most concealable piece out there.

Did you carry it in the watch fob pocket of your jeans???

Yes I did Top Dog!  ;)

But in Kansas we have open carry and covering the grip would make it concealable and requires a license.
There are laws and outlaws but then inlaws! Well never mind. :-X

Anvil,
That shorty looks right at home in that watch fob pocket!!!

Some time back I did some tests with the shorty and using Remington high speed 22 short rounds found that for their size do some serious damage almost equal to the long rifle rounds.

That Kansas law is today but what about tomorrow , the way the wind blows these days one never knows for sure even law enforcement especially so . In todays world you , we , might have to call the sheriffs dept to find out whats legal today . ;) Good morning Top Dog  .

"Open and concealed carry are legal without a license in Kansas. Anyone at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to possess a firearm may openly carry a firearm in public without a license or permit. Permitless concealed carry is legal for anyone at least 21 years old that is not prohibited from carrying a firearm. Carry Handgun Licenses (CCHLs) are restricted to residents and members of the military stationed in Kansas. The minimum age to obtain a provisional CCHL is 18 years old and 21 years old to obtain a standard CCHL. Applicants must complete an 8-hour handgun safety and training course approved by the attorney general. In terms of reciprocity, since Kansas has permitless carry, any person 21 years of age and older who can legally possess a firearm may carry a concealed firearm on his or her person without a license or permit. In addition, as of July 1, 2021, all valid concealed carry licenses/permits issued by another jurisdiction are recognized in Kansas for non-residents."

OV-1D,

Good morning too.

Kansas is super nice but.....................no mountains!! I feel so alone if not closed in by hills & mountains.

Getting to the ins and outs of concealed/constitutional carry stuff,I doubt if any LEO is totally aware of the laws.

You could probably ask three persons and get three different answers.

Top Dog, we think so much alike on this forum but we are also very different! LOL!
You see, I was raised on level ground. :)
Not long after getting married I accepted an offered career job in Missoula, Montana as a commercial artist. The problem, we soon discovered, arose when we did not see or feel the morning sun until around 9:30 am or later and lost it around 4 pm, all due to the surrounding mountains. We felt closed in (like being in the bottom of a barrel) and after just three days on the job I resigned and we went straight back home to the beloved flatlands never to look bacK!
My appologies for drifting away from the firearm forum. ::)

Anvil,
Missoula??  Ahh,yes, that is where one of the Smokejumper Schools is at and home to Behring Made Knives.

Getting back to the original topic.carrying a PUG (or any other NAA Mini) seems to be pretty much an everyday thing.

Some folks may dismiss the caliber for SD,but I have no doubts about the effectiveness of the 22 mag rounds

The 22 lr is not to be trifled with either.

My brother-in-law got shot in Nam. It nearly took his arm off. He told me it hit his nerves and he didn't feel a thing at the time! The problem was he was the unit's medic.  :o
The pain came later with 11 repair surgeries and all the rehabilitation.  ::)
He never did fully recover.  :(

Anvil,
No one really fully recovers from injuries like that.

Yes,there is surgery and rehabilitation but it is never really 100%.

With some injuries, the pain is instant, and others the pain is later on after the initial shock wears off.

8000? small town?  WOW my town and the 3-4 surrounding wouldn't make half that. Love those Pugs, and Blackwidows.  My little BugoutII works for me.  Then I'm more concerned with rabid skunks, raccoons, and what not, or a stray cow in the garden (wouldn't shoot someone's cow no matter how tempting, I like stake as much as the next guy, but I might milk it and send it home dry) than I and meth head zombie biker gangs posing as a ninja death squad.
 ;)

top dog

BlueCow,
Not a good idea to shoot the neighbor's cow!!

I always seem to prefer the BW for EDC but the PUG is right there too at times.

Right now I am thinking of maybe getting a Mini Master for camp/trail use up north.

Personally I prefer the push in and pull back release of the cylinder over the pull down and twist method.
But then reloading is not really a daily thing!  ::)
You may not need it but should have it.

top dog

Anvil,
I had one of the early Mini-Masters with the push in and pull out cylinder pin.

I had the bad habit of disconnecting when firing the magnum rounds. I guess that is why they developed the other type cylinder pin.

                                      Top Dog

OV-1D

Thats exactly right TopDog that pin kept pushing out . That magnum round has some real kick to them and the ball bearing on the release could but force its way out along with smoothing out the barrel insert area where it sat . Magnum rounds need all the best of designs to make a reliable gun . ;)  ;)

My "fix" for that problem was to wrap a single rubber band around the barrel and pin.

Later on,NAA developed the new pin system and I sent the gun in for a retro fit.

No problems from then on.

That sounds like what they did to an old Colt Walker to hold up the loading lever.
Only they used a strip of leather.

I had heard about that old time fix for the Colt Revolvers.

It is amazing to see how folks come up with remedies to fix some problems.
