shooting cans

I finally got away for the day to shoot my 5 NAA's. I set up pop cans filled with water to watch them explode at 5 yards. First for the mags I shot CCI 40 grain hollow points and as expected my Earl did the best hitting all 5, followed by the Pug with 4 and the Shadow with just 3. I really think the comfort of the grips makes all the difference in shooting the magnums. Actually I changed out the Shadow grips and maybe shouldn't have but I thought it looked better.
Next up was the 22lr with Wolf Match target and again I hit three cans.
Finally with the Shorty using CCI 27 gr. I hit two. I have not conquered that one finger grip! :(
One lesson learned was maybe not to stack the cans so close together. If I would have my totals might have be even less!  ;D
You may not need it but should have it.

PS - Next time it will be Coke cans only! Those Mountain Do's Don't !  ???

Anvil,
Ahh,yes, plinking at tin cans with the 22s!!! Superb past time!!

I don't know which is more fun, plinking at tin cans with a 22 or a Daisy (adult) Red Ruder.

I hear ya TD!  I recently bought a Crosman 1077 pellet rifle with a good supply of CO2's and pellets for my grandson in anticipation he would get involved but at age 7 he still seems to have little or no interest. Maybe next year. :-\

Anvil,
I am sure with your proper coaching, your grandson will take to shooting that Crosman.

In the meantime, don't let it gather dust, take it out (often) and plink at those tin cans!!!

I've got to be careful TD. I need to remember I'm the grandpa and not the dad.
I might be stepping on some toes so will wait and see.  ::)

Anvil,
I am sure that all will go well.

Let us know how things progress.

Anvil your fight will come between a handheld cellphone and the great outdoors sorry to say . Couch potatoes come in all sizes these days most unwanting (except to drive of course) because everything has been bought for them before the age of 6 .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

OV-1D,
Very well put.

My first phone was no the wall and you had to crank the handle to get the operator.

The thing worked better than this junk now a days.

Things were much more simple/direct back then.

I lived 2 years on the farm with my grandparents. They didn't have a TV (1950's) so shooting cans off the fence posts with grandpa was the joy of my days there. Now, our grandson, who's just about the same age as I was back then, spent the weekend with us and his time was devoted to his ipad, playing games and watching videos.
We even have a room filled with toys but he didn't go in there all weekend. It's sad.  :-X
The good news is I still get a big thrill knocking over those tin cans at my old age!  :)

Anvil,
You and I were lucky enough to be out of the lethal range of the TV and other gadgets.

No doubt about it,tin can plinking is much more satisfying than sitting in front of the tube or computer.

I agree with you TopDog except for a good football team . I discovered footfall probably five years back and started watching ever so slightly until this past year and found it to be pretty entertaining following a picked team of sorts . All other has to be nature channels , history channels , our and other universe documentaries outer space in general and good mystery shows by very good book writers not excluding Bible studies .. Definitely no commercials of any sorts if possible .  ;)  ;)

OV-1D,

I agree with you on that.

I find that the History/Discovery/Animal Planet channels are way more interesting than the usual garbage on the tube.

Mix in a little SEC football..................

I prefer watching college football instead of NFL.

When they NFL,some years back.,did not have a NRA super bowl ad but a Bloomberg anti-gun ad instead, that did it for me. No more NFL football
