4 inch Companions are back... they're $350

I have had one of these on the list for a while, but that was when they were not going for the price they are now of $350. At a lower price, it would be a neat black powder gun to try, but generally I avoid fixed sight single actions because the POA never matches the POI. Also, that price matches the Pietta pocket Remington, which shoots a .32 bullet and in general is better ergonomically.

So, I guess what I'm wondering is if the long barrel Companions are worth it? I've already decided the short barrel Companions are not.

No help here , myself the only powder firearm I have is a long barreled Freedom Arms model and I have that just because .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

The 4" Companion Earl is the magnum frame. Takes mag accessories.  It should fit the 22LR conversion cylinders.(not a NAA product) I have the cartridge conversion for my Super Companion. Would think the long barrel would be a plus. How well does the cartridge Earl shoot? This is the same gun with a C&B cylinder.
Companions are fun but a slow pain in the backside.  The page says they are back ordered a year. Might order one. I think they can ship it straight to you being C&B. No dealer / ffl.

Special order? Have them put the 6" hog leg barrel on it. Think it's the same frame :o ?

I'm not interested in doing a conversion on these Companions, my interest is their black powder percussion feature. The one factor it comes down to is if the POA matches the POI, if it doesn't then it's kind of worthless to me considering the 1863's have the same issue, but they are more ergonomic and launch a heavier projectile. Also, the '63 is one I'd have an interest in getting a conversion cylinder for.

I assume that the market for these Companions is them not being firearms and people who are prohibited can buy them and have almost the same thing as the cartridge versions, minus the better sights of course. Spare cylinders are pretty cheap, so a reload using them isn't out of the question.

If that is the case and there's not much else there with the Companions, then I'm not likely to bother. I have plenty of other percussion revolvers and they're cool to own and fun to shoot, but IDK if the NAA Companion is going to be as fun at $350.
