The number one rule my dad taught me when he handed me my first 22 rifle 1961 was "it is loaded until you prove it isn't!"
So yesterday I decided to check on my Shorty, I usually clean my guns right after shooting them but I couldn't remember if I did that this time. Truth is I really thought it was dirty and empty when I took it from the safe but remembering dad's first rule I discovered it was cleaned and fully loaded.
I was in my shop at the workbench and my water heater is thankful I didn't try to dry fire a loaded gun!~
you may not need it but you should have it

Anvil,
Your Dad is/was a very smart man.

First rule of gun safety as you know is           treat every firearm as if it were loaded

They say "never let the sun set on a dirty gun".

That way you'll never forget.
