I wouldn't blame him if he never came back! I think he is a good man at heart, and just tries to fit in.

It would be hard to fit in a group, if the group doesn't open up their arms and leave room for a person to come in. I'm as guilty as anyone on this forum of slamming him when he tries to make a point, and I feel terrible every time I do it!

Sorry for rambling, but I hope he gives me another chance!

I know that things I say on here are stupid, wrong, and controversial, and he is no different then most of us.

red14

Dang, Bud, I ain't perfect either.  You make a good point.  He's just a little different.  Heck, so am I.

MDE, come back, we love you.

   Well, it worked for Shane.
''I'm a humble man, indeed, I have a lot to be humble for.''

sirbarkalot

Define "we"............ and I sure hope you have a tick somewhere or a mouse in your pocket..............  I have nothing against the guy (MDE), got lots against YOU Red. and maybe he has taken a leave to read and learn, or going to spend some time reading some books on guns.  I dunno.   Some posts were entertaining in a pathetic sort of way, and some just irritating.  In most cases, if he would have written about 50% of what he did and shut up while he was ahead, there would be no issues with him.

   disclaimer:

All the above is opinion and not stated as fact

   Woof!

bud

Sirbarkalot, I have read the post several, times and I can only find the word We only used once, and that was in the first post as in-   I don't believe WE heard from ya in a while ya ok...

I did use the word group, but I would not speak for anyone else on their thoughts about MDE.

Like Clinton said, that depends on what IS- IS!

chopprs

.....but he did not inhale, so therein "lies" the difference!

sirbarkalot

Bud:  I was directing that as a humerous jab at Red14 who has the post directly above mine and his

"MDE, come back, we love you." remark.

His remark, in turn was intended to be humerous, indicated by his crack about it working for Shane.

I must be too subtle (perish the thought!) when I have to explain a little humerous jab at a guy with an icon like Red14 has!

   Relax Bud, we are Buds!

   Barky

bud

My bad-- I missed the word WE- as in we love you.

rjtravel

MDE's posts had real entertainment value.  Also wonder what happened to Redhawk4...a real intelligent poster.  Anyone know?

red14

You are right, he was from England, a little different perspective.

Barky is just mean sometimes, he can't help it,

    he's just being himself.
''I'm a humble man, indeed, I have a lot to be humble for.''

or got busted with a sawed off cross state lines,  hope not........mde ya out there bud    ruffruff   if he's a panin good luck

Moderndayedison

Actually...I just got back from a quick run down

to New Mexico...sort of a test run if you will.

(To test my gear and prospecting routine.)

It was a nice trip, can't wait to do it again

this next Spring. There were some spots along

the Rio Grande that I was curious about, so I

went and checked them out, had a nice time.

   A real nice time.

Got caught in the rain a few times and waited

out the storms under highway overpasses, this

worked out rather well for the most part.

Truckstop Diners are much better though.

It seems as though the storms followed me home.

There is a nice lake on the border we have been hearing a lot about on the news lately.......... really just a wide spot in the Rio Grande....  seems the lake straddles the border and there is supposed to be a really neat old church on the Mexican side.....  reportedly some real good metal detecting areas there for old Mexican artifacts..............  Maybe you could get some big truck inner tubes on your M/C and get it floating upright,,,,,,,,,,,  put some knobby tires on it and you would have a MDE Jetski...........  I hear on the news that the folks on the Mexican side are real friendly to Americans and welcome you in that church.....  supposed to be a real popular "meeting place" with the locals...........

Sounds like your kind of place............

As long as this column seems devoted to remembering, what ever happened to CJ?  I assume "collector" is the same as use to post as Darvel.  Or was it 2 L'S?  Seems it was in the late 90'sor early 2000'S  that I started doing more touring on motorcycles and quit this forum.

redhawk4

As if all the arguing with MDE wasn't enough on the infamous "Rat Shot Fallacy" Thread, now we have to start a thread bickering about him

And then people make hurtful, racist comments about me to top it off, "he's from England" like that's a valid excuse Obviously my recent posts have been so "intelligent" people didn't realise it was me - LOL

chopprs

"RACIST"????

LOL.... Dude you must REEEEAAALLLLLYYYY be bored!

redhawk4

Sorry Chopprs, everyone's playing the race card these days, I just find the concept of a "white honky" from England being "racially profiled" amusing. I don't expect you to understand you have to be part of an oppressed minority before you can really feel the hurt - it's an English thing

.......you guys really have a strange sense of humor over there for certainly you must be joking. I can not even imagine being upset over that...........

...or you are the touchiest "chap" I have ever encountered.

Nonetheless, I am PROUD to be a "White Honkey Cracka Muthaf*#ka" as well as a "*** Yankee"!!!! There are FAAAAR worse things!

Chopprs, do you know what we call d___ yankees down here?

   It is a joke, btw.
''I'm a humble man, indeed, I have a lot to be humble for.''

zippovarga

Hmm.....I don't see anything here worth closing the thread over. If we don't have an outlet for our pent up emotions, we may start hunting for turdles with our new BTs below the border with all them friendly Mexican folk!

chopprs

Red, we have done this a couple times before and that is what I was referring to but just to make you happy I will oblige...........

"No, what do you call a *** Yankee down there?"

   (Knock-Knock, Who's there.....)

one who stays the summer?

No. One who won't leave.

chopprs

......I have been both!

Moderndayedison

I didn't get that far south on the Rio Grande.

I stayed a night just south of Truth or Consequences and then

I stayed two nights just north of Truth or Consequences along the

western bank of the Rio Grande, it was awsome, but you could hear the

Cyotes howling and chasing the rabbits late at night when the traffic

died down on State Route 25....I did most of my panning and metal

detecting early in the morning as the sun came up, and late afternoon

   until dusk.

I met a few older indian guys that where out on their walk abouts in

the afternoons, they wished me luck and asked the spirits to accompany

and guide me on my journey to come.

They have their ways...that differ from modern theories and beliefs in

science, they talk with spirits that inhabit the land on which we walk.

And it seems to work for them.

One guy, an old man walking with his teenage grandson along the bank

asked me what I was doing, so I told him......and that started a long

conversation about the subject and it's history in New Mexico. I told

him that after much research I found these areas that were public right

of ways or easements that were not claimed like allot of other areas

around the country, and that is when he showed me a leather medicine

bag with about 5 ounces of small Gold nuggets that he and his grandson

had collected over the previous week.

He said he likes to get out for such walks, it's good exercise and it helps

to suppliment his retirement income, his grandson often goes with him to

help out and for company. He said he sells his Gold to a large coin shop in

Albuquerque when he gets enough of it to deal with.

He showed me an old indian trick to find Gold that I had not heard of

before, it involves lighting a sage and saying a chant and asking the

spirits for guidence to the Gold and telling them why you seek it.

He said they can tell if you are lying...so don't even try it if your

intensions are not just and pure of heart.

It seemed to be working for him.

I thanked him for his advice, and told him that I wasn't out to get rich

on Gold alone, I just have been through a tough time with industry layoffs

and a divorce and needed to right some financial wrongs until the economy

   improves a bit.

He wished me well...and was on his way, after giving me some additional

tips on places to try in the future. Mostly dry seasonal creek beds that

lead into the Rio Grande that are mostly dry except for the Spring Season.

He said they might be productive with a metal detector if I didn't mind

turning over a few rocks here and there. He commended me for not getting

into drugs and illegal things as so many younger men try to go after easy

money by breaking the law these days. He said it was good to see younger

   men out prospecting again.

I made note of these places for future reference.

I didn't do too bad for spending 3 days in the area panning though,

I did well enough that I am even more interested in taking a longer trip

next Spring. I'm afraid that once I hit Arizona it will be the point of

no return unless I find more than my motorcycle can carry, which will

force me to sell "some" and maybe make a trip home to take care of

some "bills and debts" before returning to the field to get back to it.

I'll just have to play it by ear and see how things "Pan Out" next spring.

I did have a game warden stop and question me.

But once he found out that I wasn't hunting or

fishing he scratched his head, mumbled something

over his radio, and then told me to be careful

and not to wade too far out into the river, he

said currents on the Rio Grande can be deceiving.

I thanked him for the advice and let him know it

was the last night of my trip there...and he just

waved as he drove off, apparently headed to

another call that he got over the radio.

He seemed intrigued at what I was doing though.

Like he might start doing it on his time off.

All in all it was a nice trip there and back.

Except for getting caught in the rain on the

way back...but that's just par for the course.

Afternoon storms are commonplace in the south and southwest, especially in the foothills and mountains.  You could shrug them off if you were in a 4-wheel vehicle.  I would shuck the bike...it sounds like you may have enough success to need carrying-capacity anyway.  I hope you make a great find, retire rich, and share it with us.

I try to say something nice about someone every day.  It's now after midnight and my nice sentiment for the day is directed toward Chopprs:

May peace, prosperity, and kindness follow you all the days of your life.......

MDE:

   On a serious note:

I wish you well and hope you do OK and are able to get back on your feet and get right with your family.  It sounds like you have made some steps toward that, and I hope you go safely and open a machine shop and get a BIG contract making "machined" frames for break top NAA mini guns

Glad you had a good trip.
