Who has a 32NAA?

So my main interest is with the single action naa firearms, but I just looked at the online catalog and I'm curious about how well the bottle-neck 32NAA is doing. It seems like a good idea to aid feeding and increase power. Who likes theirs?

Love mine.  Pretty accurate at 7 yards for a little DAO pocket gun and plenty of power behind the little bullet.  Trigger pull is a tad on the heavy side, which hurts accuracy on the target range, but without any safeties, it certainly prevents accidental discharges.  Only had a few FTEs while the gun was out-of-the-box new, but once broken in, it works flawlessly.

I'm going to do some thorough testing of the 32 NAA Guardian in the near future. My gut tells me that this gun/cartridge combination is going to be better than the vast majority of .380 ACP combos on the market today.

Now to figure out how to get hold of a Ruger LCP and a Kel Tec P-3AT??

If you were around Metro Atlanta, it could be arranged.

I think the .32NAA cartridge is a great idea, but feel Corbon isn't developing the ammo to its full potential.  From what I have read, the guys on BrassFetcher have tested the .32NAA rounds and it turned out they fragmented severely and didn't penetrate far.  Corbon later supposedly rectified the issue by making specific .32NAA bullets.  (I can somewhat confirm this as the 60gr .32acp Corbon bullet has a larger hollowpoint cavity than that on the .32NAA bullet).  I do not know if BrassFetcher has tested the new and improved .32NAA bullet, but they did make their own handloads and it seems the heavier bullets penetrated to or near FBI 12" spec while still expanding to over .40".  I feel Corbon believes too strongly in their "max velocity" philosophy to do the R&D into heavier bullets for this round.

1200 fps out of a 2" barrel is nothing to sneeze at, but if a heavier, slower moving bullet designed to expand at those speeds penetrates to 12", then I would prefer that over blistering velocity that results in a fragmented bullet stopping at 6" penetration.  I handload my own range ammo for the .32NAA and have cooked up some decent loads, but unfortunately, I would not ever load them up as carry ammo.  I'm thinking I would try plugging the hollowpoint cavity with some RTV silicone sealer or something soft - similar to the Hornady Critical Defense ammo.  I'm afraid if I ever had to shoot someone with said ammo, it would be called into question by the prosecution accusing me of making evil ammo" or something.  I'd feel much better buying a well-developed factory round that offers the best performance without any modifications on my part.

I have one and love it.  I have also converted one of my Ruger LCP's, a Makarov and a CZ82 to the round.  This is one of the best SD rounds ever to hit the handgun world and I think it is a crime that it isn't being developed and pushed as hard as it should.  If more folks knew more about this round, .380's would stop selling all together.  Why?  You can have the same size gun, same number of rounds and FAR superior stopping power with a .32NAA in your pocket.

Warty, how did you convert your LCP??  I was considering a LCP, but then got the Guardian in .32NAA.  I would love to get a LCP and convert it over.

silvershooter

I appreciate your opinions. I think after the topbreak I'll start planning for a 32naa and stocking up on the ammo.

jerrys

yes, how do you convert the LCP to .32naa?

jsan

Ah, think I found the answer.  Innovative Arms has an aftermarket barrel for the LCP in .32NAA.

Scroll to the bottom to see it.

If it isn't too expensive, I just might consider getting an LCP.  I have a converted Makarov, but that isn't nearly as small and isn't suitable for front pocket carry.  I'm not familiar with how the LCP takes down, but it seems like a fairly simple swap.  Would be great to have a platform capable of shooting two different calibers.

That is a GREAT find, Jsan! I know many people nowadays are looking for performance on IWBA/FBI tests more than kinetic energy.

I would REALLY love to see something in the range of 62 to 71gr JHP in the .25NAA. That would give it a sectional density of .140 to .160, far better than .079 of their current 35gr offering. That would make the smaller, lighter .25NAA Guardian a viable carry piece! Even if the bullets don't expand, it would still be like skewering the BG w/a fencing foil due to penetration.

I bought a .32acp, a .380acp (both lightly used) and finally a new .32naa.  At the time, I considered finding a .25naa to complete the family.

I kept only the .32naa as I was most impressed by it.  Mine hasn't experienced any issues to make me not trust it.  It sure gets peoples attention at the indoor range.  The only issue was a few fmj rounds (17 of 500) that were slightly bulged which didn't allow them to chamber.  NAA and CORBON addressed that quickly.  In AZ summer weather, the .32naa is reliable enough to carry alone.

I too, was intrigued about a 32NAA LCP. I contacted Innovative Arms. They are currently out of stock on the barrels. If you will leave them notice you want one, they will notify you when they become available. They are a little expensive at $240.00 each. They do not currently offer a barrel for the Taurus TCP.
