My new PGG is expected to arrive tomorrow!!!

Interesting turn of events.  I ordered my NAA Pug back in January from my LGS.  They have been SWAMPED with orders for obvious reasons.  Anyway, I ordered the PUG and then tried to get them to order the LR cylinder to go with it.  One thing led to another and the bottom line was, "You'll have to order that separately from NAA after you get the firearm."

So, I have been waiting patiently ever since knowing that when it arrived, I would most likely ship it right back to NAA to have the LR cylinder timed for it.

Well, over the weekend I found myself browsing one of the large, ebay type, gun auction sights (GB) and low and behold found a deal on a PUG with the LR cylinder to boot (brand new). This got me thinking... I pulled out my receipt for the PUG I had on order, and on the receipt it said that if my order wasn't in after 30 days, that I could get a full refund with no questions asked and cancel the order.

My impatience got the best of me... I chose the Buy It Now option, secured the PUG (only paid about $75.00 more than my original purchase and got the LR cylinder) and then yesterday went and got my full refund.  My tracking number tells me that the PUG will be at my FFL Dealer tomorrow.  I CANNOT WAIT!!!

So much for the old saying, "Good things come to those who wait"  ;D

I say "Good things come to those who get up off their butts and go get it"  ;) ;D

The way things are right now, if you want it and you see it, buy it, because if you don't the next guy will.  Things seem to be softening a bit in terms of firarms availablity, but ammo is still scarce, and likely will be for a while.

Good find. The $75 extra you spent is a bit less than the cost of the new cylinder and shipping back and forth to NAA.

That's exactly what I was thinking!!! Lucky me I guess.

Ammo!?!?!? Holy Cow I forgot about that.  Fortunately, I have about 3,000 rounds in .22 LR reserve that I am S-L-O-W-L-Y shooting.  I have a .22 suppressor that I am hoping to pick up any day as soon as the paperwork comes in.  I ordered it back in October and my buddy ordered his from the same guy two weeks before me and picked his up last week.  Once that comes in, I think my 3,000 rounds will dwindle down quick.  Man I will be glad when ammo becomes available again.

See if Aquila SSS 60 grain cycles through your piece with the can and doesn't keyhole and tumble. Some folks get lucky. If your gun goes supersonic, that makes a lot of noise by itself.

Since you sprang for a can, I'm sure you know a lot already and will find out all about the rest soon. Congratulations on your can.

Congrats on the pug and having the balls to get a can, I can't

Many suppressor makers advise not shooting Aquilla through their cans as they do tend to tumble. Tumbling through your can will destroy your can. I would advise skip this ammo and go with something better.

Most Aguila tumbling doesn't happen in 6 inches, but rather feet and yards.

Thanks roguets1 that is some important info I was never advised with my paperwork . I bet I have some of that also what maker of sub sonic do you use .

I rarely use subsonic .22 in my pistols. The barrels are usually too short to reach supersonic and hence I get more velocity than subsonics without the sonic boom. My Ruger will reach supersonic with hyper velocity .22 so I simply use Regular velocity to cure the problem.

My personel favorites for carry are CCI Velocitors. Practice is CCI Hypers or Normal velocity and Rem Bulk Goldens. On the rare occasion I need a sub sonic .22 I go with Rem Subsonic.

Did you get your PUG picked up?  Mine should be here next week, looking forward to it.

turkeyhunter

Yes, my PUG is here however haven't gotten to pick it up yet. USPS screwed up the tracking.  They said it as going to arrive yesterday.  Well they were wrong.  However, by FFL called today and he has it, but I had to work a little longer than expected and didn't get by there.  I will pick it up tomorrow just in time for the weekend

I will try to post pics this weekend

jw1128

Mine should be in next week, been wanting one for a while, my ffl found a distrib that got them back in stock and I jumped on it with the times being what they are.

RogueTS1

So, have you picked it up yet? Has it lived up to your expectations? What do you think? Huh? Huh? Huh?.......................... come on what do you think of it?...................

OK, so here it is (I hope the attachments work).  Man... I like the PUG a whole lot.  Great little gun.  I can't wait to shoot it tomorrow.  Have two holsters for it.  One is a Remora and the other is an RKBA.  I really love Remora Holsters.  I have several and love the comfort and how easy they are to carry.  I am looking forward to using the RKBA too.  It's a great quality holster and I really dig the ammo pouch.  Sorry for the poor quality pics.  Made them with my iPhone.

Here is the RKBA holster.   8)

Do you wear that IWB as some have suggested or just using it as a pocket holster?

turkeyhunter

The RKBA holster is going to be pocket only.  It's a little tight right now (as almost all leather holsters are) so I left the PUG in it over night.
There is just something about leather holsters that I really dig.  The spare ammo pouch is kinda cool too.  It would never work in a defensive scenario, but it's good to have 5 extra rounds in case you need to dispose of a legless reptile or something.

The Remora line of holsters are great.  It can be used as a pocket holster or IWB.  It has a tacky (not sticky) texture to it.  It absolutely DOES NOT MOVE in the pocket or IWB, and is so comfortable you almost forget it's there (especially with small guns).  I got my first one for my Ruger LCP, and have since gotten one for my Taurus 85, Glock 27 and now my NAA PUG.  They are great little holsters with TONS of options at a very reasonable price.  Check them out on the web.

It's been a very rainy night here in Georgia, so I hope to get out and shoot it a bit today.  Fortunately I live on a small piece of land so going to the gun range for me is just walking out my front door.

Dinadan

Turkeyhunter - great looking gun and holster, I bet the waiting makes it even sweeter to finally have it. My Pug was my first NAA gun: I still love it but it did lead to a kind of expensive addiction to more Minis.

turkeyhunter

You got that right Dinadan.

My first Mini was an 1 1/8" 22 mag / LR.  I bought that gun several years ago, right after I got my CCW permit.  It's the gun that I learned how to carry with (if that makes any sense).  From there I moved up to a Kel Tec P32, to my now Ruger LCP.  That little 1 1/8" stayed in my safe until I finally traded it for something else.  I have missed it since.

Well, a friend of mine just bought a couple Mini's not too long ago and of course re-kindled my fondness for the little gems.  After seeing the PUG, I knew I had to get another NAA mini and the PUG would be the one.  So, I now call this my "no excuses" gun which means "no excuses to not carry (at least something)!!!" The PUG is going to be a great backup to my LCP or just a nice little piece to keep in my pocket while around the house, cutting the grass, maybe out for a little jog or walk, or perhaps even in my swim shorts around the pool with the kids or something.  Again... no excuses.

I hope my next mini will be a sidewinder.  My buddy and I each have one on order, but when they will every come in... who knows.  I have been keeping my eye out for a little LR or maybe even a Short model just for novelty purposes.

Bottom line is, I don't expect to be trading any more of my NAA's  :)

jw1128

My first was the 1 1/8" 22 mag / LR also, and I had it for several years.  I ordered a lost river neck holster, but clicked long rifle instead of magnum by mistake, got it in, figured out what I had done, took the holster to the lgs, confirmed it, and walked out with the 1 1/8 long rifle.  Then seeing the difference in size, I decided to go even smaller and ordered the short soon after, which I must say is really fun to shoot.  Been wanting a PUG forever, finally found one in the crazy times we are in, and its on the way.  And now I am all about collecting them...

RANGE REPORT NEW NAA PUG:

So, there was a break in the rain here, and my wife is out doing a little shopping and I am home with my boys.  Stepped out the front door to try out the PUG.

What can I say? FUNCTIONALITY: Flawless, as with most NAA SA revolvers.  Didn't expect any problems being single action.  AMMO: Ran some CCI cheap stuff through my LR cylinder.  Did just fine.  As for the MAGS, didn't want to shoot too many of those but ran some CCI MAX MAG +V through it and did great.  Also ran some Hornady Velocitators (?) +V and they did great too.  ACCURACY: Not bad at all.  Shot from around 25' at a paper plate (I figured if I could keep inside a paper plate at that distance, then that would be good for this little shooter).  After about 3-4 rounds, I figured out where this thing was on paper and did quite well.  I was keeping them inside a 6" grouping.  SIGHTS: Much, much better than my old NAA 1 1/8" blade sight.  Sights make all the difference in the world on these little guys. CLEANABILITY: Heck, 5 minutes with a Q-Tip and a bit of Rem Oil is all you need.  EASE OF CARRY / CONCEALMENT: Incredible.  I think my keys are more noticeable, and probably heavier too  ;D  Again, this is a "no excuses" gun... meaning... "no excuses on why I should not carry (legally of course)."  The PUG currently resides in my front right pocket, with my LCP at 5 o-clock IWB.

THE BEST PART: I am a father of two incredible boys (10 and 8).  They like to shoot with me on occasion, and I am trying to get them interested in firearms at an early age, not only to teach them respect for firearms, but also safety, handling and knowledge so that if they ever encounter a firearm when I am not around, they know how to respect it, AND to alert an adult.  Everything in my house stays locked up tight and they know if they ever want to see a gun, handle a gun, fire a gun... all they have to do is ask Dad (they won't have to twist my arm to hard).

My 10 year old went out with me and he decided to shoot the PUG.  It fits his hand perfect, and I have to admit, it being a single action revolver is not a bad gun to let a younger child shoot, or teach them to shoot with.  He did great.  His accuracy was spot on, and shot from the same distance I did.  Now he wants one! Well... when you are several years older son and when it's legal!

My Dad started me out at an early age... shooting, hunting, etc.  I am glad that so far I have been afforded the same privilege with my boys.

turkeyhunter

BTW... what ammo do you all carry in your magnums? I am carrying the CCI Maxi Mags +V.  I understand Hornady has some stuff out there made for short barrel CCW guns.  I am sure there will be varying opinions on this, but just wondering what I should be on the lookout for at the gun shops.

Dinadan

Turkeyhunter - good idea teaching gun safety when the boys are young. I taught my daughter to shoot pretty early, partly because I was concerned about her being with other youngsters and someone finding or showing a gun. I wanted her to understand the basics and what not to do. Especially with boys I think there is a tremendous curiosity about guns which is best addressed by a responsible adult.

I like to carry CCI/Speer Gold-Dots and CCI TMJ Maximags loaded in alternate chambers in my magnums. However, the Gold-Dot does not really expand out of my Pug's 1" barrel. (It does expand when fired in my longer barreled Minis.) So, even though I carry them in my Pug, I do not really think they are any better than TMJ Maximags. I like the 40 gr bullets instead of lighter, faster bullets. Just my opinion. I have not tried any of the Hornady ammo. Hard to find any mags or LR right now!

TwoGunJayne

I carry Hornady Critical Defense in my 4" mini master. I think it's pretty nice, all things considered.

The maximag+V has good energy, but won't expand out of a short barrel. Consider it a high-engery FMJ

Good to start children when young.  I had my 1st rifle and shotgun when I was 10 and have taught my children and grandchildren when they were young.  I carry HCD in my BW and have not had any problems.  My next NAA will be a Pug or a 2.5" Sidewinder [probably both].
