I primarily shoot 22lr because of availibility and cost, and caary it all the time because of that. I ASSume that there is virtually no difference at 10-15 feet in the point of aim between the two ( 22lr & 22mag) from the 1 5/8 and the 4 inch barrels

I think that in a small piece that there could be a surprising difference because of projectile weight and speed. The smaller the gun, the more it can move under recoil.

Just me .02 c.

In general ..faster bullets tend to hit lower due to the round clearing the barrel more quickly and thusly having less time to be effected by recoil. Slower rounds tend to hit higher for the same reason in reverse..that is the upward motion of the gun has more time to influence the upward trajectory of the round.  At 7 yards or less most guns hit where the sights are looking so doubt it be much of a factor at the ranges mentioned. Move to the 25 or 50 yard line could make quite a bit of difference.

as reguards to .22 mag the longer the barrel the less chance of key holing. the farther out your target is a 1" 1/8 or 1" 5/8 barrel and a .22mag the bullet does not have enough spin and starts to tumble.

Kentucky Kevin

Niether the 1 5/8's nor the 4" tumbles, while one of the stubbies does

Have both (LR & WMR) in 1 1/8th for several years. The WMR is the constant carry, while the LR definitely gets more range time (mainly due to ammo availability).  Have never noticed any appreciable difference in target contact up to 25 feet  (maximum practice distance with the minis for me).

That's just good sense.  Too many folk buy a handgun, maybe (if at all) fire it a couple times, and then carry it everywhere.  With no training, practice and such, that's an accident waiting to happen, or at least a complete foul-up if the need to draw occurs.

One other thing about the .22WMR.  It is loud beyond belief compared to the .22LR.  At night you can see what seems to be a few inches of flame/flash coming out the barrel with CCI Minis as the ammo.  It is impressive.

Yea, I agree. I carried my single action cowboy guns, fugureing that the 10,000 (based on primer useage) live fire and innumerable dry would give me the best muscle memory. Funny, one of my friends wanted me to try IDPA, and at a small, 10-12 people match, let me carry two using a New York reload, and I placed second over all, and first in the fast draw, one shot, on steel. I pulled my cross draw, which is the fastest bullet to target that I can do. The next match he told me it broke to many rules and loaned me a glock. That was 5 glocks ago, but I now carry my NAA more than my glock.

Sounds like some fancy shooting Sir. Here is one of my heros.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TANC4VI8vF4.
The only .22 WMR I ever owned was a high standard derringer. Not sure where the bullets was headed when they come out of that crazy thing.  Did make a nice hand held flash bang gernade..lol. Hey maybe we should pass this tip off to SWAT and or other groups of Ninja Turtles. Might help them cut back on expenses. Those flash bangs prob purty expensive..lol.

Dang..looks like he got a knack with that speed loader. Thanks for the link. If you ever get bored read up on this young man sometime. He was the Texas DPS head firearms trainer for many moons. He also had a heart for double action Pythons. He is more of an expeditious accuracy type guy. He could also shoot some real tight groups at 50 yards with a snubby. He is one of a kind. Makes nice guns too I think. There are several google links to him. Hope he aint passed yet.

hmmmm..that appears to be some double superlative effusive gushing. There may be some facetiousness afoot here..lol.

No hot rod here, small fish, small pond. Most people really don't shoot that much, when you do you can easily rise into the top 25% of ANY group you shoot with. The real work is when you want to consistantly be number one. Perfect practice makes perfect

Jerry miculik was on an episode of "sons of guns." Season 2 I think. It's a fun show to watch if you don't take it too seriously and don't get too upset about people breaking basic gun safety rules on national tv. I, personally, enjoy it. My wife wants me to buy her pretty much every gun they feature on the show, though.

Two different things though.  In KY you can make a drive through puchace of packaged liquor, in LA you can make a purchace of a prepared liquor drink, to-go.  Which is why if your work for a food service company that does business in several states, you may need more than one Responsible Service of Alcohol certification.  Currently the Nation Restaurant Association Education Foundation has four different certification programs.  The LA certification is only good in LA because of the above mentioned reason and that LA uses French Comman law instead of Old-English Comman law.  MT and WA require their own state specific program because of some legal irregularities specific to those states.  And the forth program is for every other state.
