Break Top made it to the Range

My Break-top Mini Revolver made it to the range over the weekend. Not a full range report, and no pics but here is a few observations.

Action is a little stiff compared to other Minis I own but functional. I hope it loosens up a bit with use.

Sights are ridiculously small and hard to see, but fully functional. I was able to shot very good groups with slow aimed fire.

Ejection worked great. I was actually surprised by that, as I remember that being one of Sandy's caveats. Shells dumped right out until the gun was pretty dirty, then a few chambers needed a little help. Was easy enough to pull the cases the last little bit and reload.

The gun is a blast to shoot, I put 150 rounds through it and only stopped because I ran out of 22 mag. All shots were at 7 yards. With slow aimed fire I was able to shoot 1" - 1 1/2" groups. Drawing from the pocket and point shooting or flash sight picture type shooting, I could keep them all in the head. More than good enough for me ;).

Other things to note: After 150 rounds the little beast was filthy. Lots of powder on the cylinder and top strap. Don't think the gap between the forcing cone and cylinder is as tight as on my other minis. May be normal for a break top style. Wish I had a Chrony to see if the loss of power is significant compared to my BW. Doubt it matters much though.

One last thing: When shooting left handed (non dominate for me) the knurled button to open the action caught the top of my thumb knuckle a few times. Drew blood but wasn't terribly painful. Adjusted my grip a bit and everything was fine.

Love the break top. Hope they roll it out to production and expand the line. I'd love to have a modern 32 single action break top.

Stove,  at least you got to shoot yours. I got 2 of them and both of the mainsprings failed before I got to shoot them! I got them fixed, I hope, but haven't got a chance to shoot them yet. Glad I didn't have to depend on them.
