What Type Of Grips Do You Have On Your Mini?

NAA Boot Grips.

Although I am on the lookout/on the market for other aftermarket grips in the boot style although no luck so far. If any of you know of after market boot grips besides the ones NAA makes I would appreciate the information.

Hey .54Cal_Kidd GREAT looking grips! Mind if I ask how you go about making them? Are you using some kind of Dremel tool?

grayelky

I prefer the basic smooth, round grip. Don't care for the ones that won't let the gun move in my hand. The boot grips just won't let me hit anything. The BW grip would be okay for just plinking, but I like the "standard" grip the best. I may get around to trying the Cvang grips, as I have held them, and they have promise.

I know I am alone on this, but I prefer the standard grips on the pug and the black widow. :-[

Just made myself some custom sidewinder grips.

Thanks Tom, check in the FAQ section, I did a step by step on making the curly cherry grips and it was moved to there.

I am sold on Cvang grips.
I like the looks.
The grips fit the hand solid. I find with the birds head and boot grips, every time I take a shot, I have to reposition the mini for the next shot. I can't get a real fast follow up shot. With Cvang grips the grip on the revolver doesn't change. As I bring it out of my pocket it is in my hand the same every time so the barrel is pointing in a straight line with my wrist and forearm and it is never high nor low..

I guess I have fat fingers because with the boot or birdshead grips, my middle finger is behind the trigger and when I squeeze the trigger to fire a shot, the trigger mashes into my finger giving a real hard trigger pull plus it hurts my finger. To keep the finger from behind the trigger I have to hold the mini high in my grip at a very uncomfortable angle.

They have a built in recoil shield that stops the edge of the cylinder from catching on the seam at the top of the pocket.

The Mini Master's and Black Widow's grips are comfortable to shoot and have a great fit to my hand but they are like a big round egg when I try to conceal them.

The rubber birdshead grips want to hang on to my pocket pulling it out when I draw. That wastes a lot of time and sometimes stops the draw all together.

The next two that I am going to sell. As soon as I get the time to take the pictures.

The two that I carry everyday.

Are those the stock NAA Boot Grips? They look a bit different. Could just be the picture.

My favorite
Like Grayelky, I prefer the birdshead grips. I don't have a problem with the gun rolling in my hand. In fact I like a little shift back. It helps cocking for the next shot.
I admit, some of the other grips shown are real nice.
DbgUSMC, great engraving.. Would you consider doing some grips for others?

ephraim

actually these are my favorite. I got the pictures mixed up. The checked rubber are my second choice.

Lots of options, but carry the birdshead stag sidewinder.  Super low profile and very shootable

Stag held on by rare earth magnet dots.

Black ebony and blue burl

Craziest one I have made, kinda flintlocky

tomhawes2002

WOW 45Flint as always VERY impressive! My assumption is that you made all the grips yourself? I did not realize you had made Boot Grips as well. Do you use the magnets for/in all of them?

tomhawes2002

Steve do you know if your instructions on how you made your grips from several months ago made it into the FAQ?

45 Flint those are some GREAT looking grips ,wonderful craftmenship , especially ,all of them ,but those shield types are what I was going to do with antler one of these days . Your definitely on a roll , good for you . Wish I had a way to checker the pieces .

Only the antler have magnets.  Had them for a while, shot them, really the way to go.   I don't know if my instruction are still out there?

ephraim

45flint,
Those are beautiful grips. Outstanding work. True craftsmanship. I like the way they fill out to the edge of the frame. Some grips, including factory ones, don't fit well at all. I can see why you don't need to buy other peoples grips.

Uncle_Lee

45flint, you DO have some very impressive grips.
They make the minis look GOOD!!!!

Unc_lee one thing we can agree on is you have some beautiful works of art there , with those holsters you have there , there all museum pieces ..need more of those grips from 45flint for the perfect match .
