Update: I just purchased another 1 5/8" mini conversion (actually the consecutive serial number to the one I purchased a few months ago) and it's barrel is not cut square either!!! I pointed it out to the owner of the shop and he said it sure isn't!!! He looked at the other 1 5/8 mini that was not a conversion model and it was the same way!!! He said their tooling must be off!!! I told him I wanted it anyway because I can make it even better and because of the consecutive serial number!!!

You know I have a single six as well!!! Have had it for 35 years!!! It is dead nuts accurate but not a target revolver either in my book!!! I am the kind of guy that that likes to improve things as best as I can!!! If I wanted a "silk purse" I would have bought a "silk purse"!!! Are you the type of guy that Buys A Pocket Knife and Does Not Sharpen It??? Last sow I saw had two ears and now I guess I have a pair!!! Keep "sporting your silk purse"!!!

I want to thank you for the information you provided on improving the accuracy of the NAA 22 mag. I followed your advice and was amazed at the improvement. I went one step further than you. After lowering the front sight I painted the back with white finger nail polish. Depending on lighting this sometimes helps.
Today I shot a 1 1/2 inch group at 8 yards from a rest. I was shooting Win 40 gr 22 mag HP. Theoretically I should be able to hit 4 1/2 inch groups at 25 yds. Unfortunately , I' m not that lucky. 12 inch groups is more common, sometimes worse.
Have you hit any tight groups at 25 yards.

I have not tried to shoot at 25 yards but I will and see what I can do!!! I really do not have a need to shoot the mini that far but it might be interesting!!! I will tell you that I do not expect much at that range due to the fact that the sight radius on a 1 5/8" mini is only about 2 1/2"!!! With such a short radius it is hard to aim precisely at the longer ranges!!! My use for my mini is to be able to shoot a pie plate quickly under stress as in a self defense situation but also need the ability to make precise close range shots at targets such as snakes!!! I used to carry a much larger 22 revolver (ruger single six)on the ranch and in the woods and loved the accuracy of it but hated the weight and fact that it was always in the way!!! The mini is always either in a belt holster or concealed in my boot or pocket without knowing it is even there!!!

Be careful with this thought.
Buying minis in pairs with consecutive serial numbers can be very expensive.
It is not long before the "I have to have a pair of each model" feeling hits you.

I haven't been hit with that feeling with the Guardians yet.
I can be happy with just one of each.

I completely understand Uncle Lee!!! Actually I have no desire to have two of any model for myself. And with the exception of the Breaktop (which I will not pay that much for) only care for one other model that being a BW. I bought the second mini as a Bday present for my son (I have a pair of those as well) because he likes mine so much. Both of these little guns will see many years of hard use!!!

   When I was buying that one yesterday the shop owner said he thought that was his last one of that model. He was digging in the safe and started saying "you can't have that one" "you can't have that one"!!! I asked him what it was he had in there that I can't have??? He looked at me and said "Breaktops"!!! I said you have two, and he said no I have three and pulled one out of his pocket!!!

That line from "Rob Roy" plays well as his wife and he were both in skirts/kilt I'm able to shoot extremely accurately with all my Mini's Perfect practice makes perfect, course I was able to repeatedly hit a golf ball out to 25 YDS today shooting in the rain with my Glock, Shocked me as I had not shot in a while. Practice , practice practice. I was shooting 22 from a conversion kit

After mounting the 4x on my MM, I was shooting pregnat sized golfball groups at 25YDS Practice. I removed the scope and went commando to day and consistantly net that sized rock at 12 feet today in the rain. That was mentioned twice because the "only" differance between a red light and laser surgery is focus/concintration

OK I will start by admitting that I am nowhere close to being a gunsmith and have no claim to being one! Shortly after I got my 1 5/8" mini conversion I was admiring it as many of us do and noticed that the muzzle end of my barrel was not even close to being square! This was obvious wih the eyes only and a square was not needed to detect it! This bothered me to no end.

As far as accuracy goes it was what I felt not that bad with the little gun being what it was, not meant to be a target revolver to begin with. I was able to keep 5 shots into groupings of about 2 3/4" at 20 feet most of the time but my rounds always hit to the right of the target about 1 1/2". If you think about barrels and barrel crowns then you know that the crown is the final "kiss goodbye" as the bullet leaves toward the target. My barrel if you looked at it with the sight (useless by the way until altered) towards you the end of the barrel was high on the right side. As the bullet left the barrel the pressure of the gasses would escape on the left before the right ever so slightly. This would have the impact of throwing the bullet to the right of Point of Aim!

I emailed NAA and they said this was an issue they would resolve which put me at ease. But did I really want to send the little gun in to have them put another uncrowned barrel on? No! First thing I did was to alter the original sight that looked like half of a dime glued to the top of the barrel. I took a file and filed it down at an angle where the high side was only about 1/16" tall. Not only did this make the useable but made it look a lot more proportional to the tiny revolver!

Then I took and squared the end of the barrel very carefully and slowly on a disc sander being sure not to allow any heat build up. I then beveled the outside edge a bit with a needle file and polished the end up. Now all that was left was to cut the crown.

Being a man of several tools and none of them designed to cut a crown I took a small round headed brass screw, 8-32 in size, and chucked it up in a drill. I then took 240 grit clover lapping compound and put it on the screw head. Being a spinning round headed screw going into a round hole centering it was not a problem. I pushed a patch into the barrel from the cylinder end with a q tip till it almost came out the end. Then I turned on the drill and lapped a crown into the muzzle!

Cleaned up the barrel real good and went for the test to see if the work I had done made an impact or not. For one thing I knew the end of my barrel was square and it looked a lot better too! I fired 5 rounds from a supported rest at a 2" orange dot sticker on a piece of cardboard just as I had done right before this procedure. Both groupings were fired after the sights had been altered to my liking. The result was that my initial group of 2 1/2" that hit to the right went to a 1" group dead center of the orange dot!!! In my opinion that is one huge difference.

These little guns by no means are target weapons but the factory accuracy can defiantly be improved upon!!! I have some pics that I will post of the targets and modifications done to the mini in the next couple of days if anyone is interested.

Three inch groups at twenty feet?  You may be as good as the gun is to begin with. I suppose you can do all the regular stuff to fluff and buff. But these are not Olympic target pistols. I had one of those and was not much better they you are with this little itty bitty thing.

When I get four inches at twenty feet I will buy a bottle of champagne. The only guns I ever shot well. Well. Lets see. Got 50 clay pigeons in a row once. And can manage 46 our of 50 on a .22 50/50. But that puts me in about last place at my target range. Those guys get 50/50 plus ten 'x' es to be competitive.

Regarding socialist and the like. Democrats would not win dog catcher without the African American vote. And they only have 90% of that vote, perhaps, because 70% of African Americans are illegitimate by birth - the Democrats natural constituency. If you are illegitimate by birth we have a politicall party just for you.

So they should have a lock on the whole nine yards. But they do not. And thats a wonder. I suppose all those teen moms who can vote once they reach voting age don't much care since they already get Obama phones. And two other things.

These social inclinations move in long waves, and my boomer age is now coming to a close over the next two decades. And so the natural reversal is on order. And of course the Lefters had 100 years to ready their health care hopes. One hundred years and THIS is the best they could do.  We have more uninsured then before, and the uninsured are as much against the project as the rest of us.

Mostly we just need to wait for the sound, fury, dust and debris settle to find out whats next. I sure as hell don't know. But Obama may have been the very worst thing that could have happened at this auspicious time.  A vapor ghost fart.  However, the republic is resilient. It will live on with or without me, you, or the various Democrat Ghost Farts.

I am trying to find a T shaped object that will fit down the barrel, so I can verify the muzzle for being square.  A .22lr case won't fit, the lands keep it out.

I might make a trip to the hard store.

Just hold it barrel up and put a single edged razor blade on top and it will be obvious if it is not square!!!

You can use a double edged blade also...but double the risk of cutting yourself.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I have spent my whole life trying to understand these sorts of things and have been fortunate to have been in 40 or 50 countries, both on official government business and as a tourist.

And drew up a written contract known as the Mayflower Compact. And they were followed by much the same.

Latin America was founded on military plunder. Over hundreds of years. NOTHING can change these two facts. The best the illegal aliens can do is turn the place over to Democrats. Okay. Thats bad enough. But we will never, ever, have a Hugo Chavez. Futher, Mr. Ghost Fart himself came along at just the exact proper time. 

I am a boomer going out to pasture, and all the silly pseudo Marxists in accademia look a bit rug worn and in need of a manicure. The natural long wave cultural swing is happening just now at exactly the right time. Specifically. The Progressives were hell bent for leather 100 years for health care.
