Would give NAA something new for the 2014 shows?

Uncle_Lee

I don't think we will be able to get the longer barrel until they need to increase sales.
They haven't caught up on the orders for the short barreled models yet and until they do I don't think we will see longer barrels.

That would make great model for sure .  Ya got my vote .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Dinadan

Uncle lee has a point. But I think something new to show off would be good for Naa, so I kind of expect something by year's end.

45flint

I suppose a early bird long barrel is too much to ask for?

TwoGunJayne

We actually got together and elected a rep to contact NAA about how we had enough interest for the minimum order of a custom run. We were politely declined because of the small mountain of backorders at the time.

I'm not adverse to trying it again when things settle down.

A BW or MM with a sidewinder style swing out cylinder would be great. Since I can't have a ranger that might help take the sting out of my ranger envy. 8)

kbuzbee

SW BW gets my vote. Really liking that gun!

The swing out cylinder requires the extra depth of frame that gives the Sidewinder its unique profile, if I remember correctly. So just sticking a Sidewinder cylinder into a Black Widow or Mini Master frame will not work. On the other hand, adding an inch or three to the Sidewinder barrel should be pretty simple. That is what I expect to see, hopefully within the year.

cfsharry

Dinadan,
"Unique profile", that's a really tactful description. I always think of it as one 'really ugly' little gun. But, as they say, "beauty lies in the eye of the beholder".
But to answer the question; no, I don't think they will offer a longer barrel any time soon.
If I were granted one wish, however, it would be for the reintroduction of the Ranger, but in .32 cal.  A guy can dream.

heyjoe

there is no way that a longer barrel sidewinder will be released before the end of this year. probably not even by the end of next year
It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

Attention NAA!

I'll say it again, Sandy. I'll say it again, forum addicts. I'll say it again.

HERE IS WHY THE SIDEWINDER ROCKS!

Are you listening?

It's the only American available left handed .22 revolver with side swing that could possibly take a speed loader. Those Ruger products are plastic and half-baked [comment deleted]

I know that I am preaching to the choir. Preach, preach, preach. I receive preaching all the time, even on this site.

If you listen to nothing else that I say, if NAA offers a left hand quick-release speed loading off-handed .22 magnum backup revolver... then that will make the market by itself. You always win in a market if there is no competition. The next question is accessories, aimability, and other such considerations.

We keep asking for longer barrels, for buntlines, for target revolvers, and for larger calibers. The reason we keep coming to NAA is that they are the most compact and the smallest of the small. We all want NAA to defeat Smith and Wesson in the .38 snub 5 shot category. We really do. We want NAA to beat Ruger in the revolver and autoloader rifle market. I really hate to say it but Ruger is starting to eat NAA's lunch in the small caliber snub revolver category. What's the one advantage that keeps us coming back? Smaller size. So some of us keep wanting a longer barrel and say things like "That Black Widow is pretty cool, the barrel length seems a good comprimise, but....." We've all got a big "but."

So that kbuzbee user said "black widow sidewinder." I think that's only a small portion of the correct answer. What about the neglected left handers in the entire firearms world? That took some guts saying that the sidewinder is basically a left-hand revolver. That's weak-hand to a majority of shooters! When you compare it to the reload times of "not during this fight" for the slide-pin arrangement... well... what say you, NAA forum? I won't ask Sandy to make a specific annoucement. He might lose or be wrong or something! Some of us said "long barrel hog leg," some of us said "long barrel sidewinder." Some of us even said long barrel Black Widow sidewinder conversion... what? 2" 4" 6"

I hate that Sandy is likely buried under TPS reports and backorders to give a well-thought out reply. Make no mistake, I'm definitely not the enemy... just a loyal long time customer that has occasion to say "WTF?"

I've never seen a sidewinder of any stripe or color to buy in a local store. HeII, I can't even get .22 rimfire ammo reliably right now. I have sources, I can get it, sure. There's no problem with that. I've just never seen a sidewinder of any color or stripe.

If you read my posts, you'd know what I've had... what I've used... and what I'm looking for. If Sandy wants me to have a conversion 2"-4" sidewinder to blast animals, I'd gladly give my best review and shoot fur-bearing critters with it.

We want all of these things, but I'll give Sandy credit where credit is due.

This is just some internet forum. His most loyal warriors receive no pay check, compensation, discounts, or even a "good job."

It's like picking up scraps that fall from the master's table. If you think Sandy gave me a prototype and $10,000 for having a high post count, then either pinch me because I'm dreaming or slap him for screwing up and abandoning his most loyal fighters. I actually paid for the right to be here by buying NAA products and enjoying them enough to post reviews and ballistic information. The worst part is that everyone here has cooler guns and set ups than I do because I'm not a rich man.

Anyway, as far as longer barrels one the sidewinder frame, I'm all for it. Perhaps I'll see one a few years from now and will have a chance to review it if I actually could find one to buy.

http://naaminis.com/smf/index.php?topic=3182.0

So I've had a chance to afford an NAA black powder revolver and review it with grain scales, chrony and all its glory. I've taken small game with it. I received $0 to do so and in fact paid money for the honor of writing reviews like that. If you have any questions on that review, please let me know. I'll fix them to the best of my ability. If NAA would like to give me pieces to review, I'd be happy to do that as well.

If you wonder why this forum is a touch slow, it's because anyone who posts here WANTS to be here. Most of us don't have an opportunity to know any more than you do, just what we managed to find out through trial and error.

So who's hard core enough to stay here? I've seen plenty of people kicked out of gun forums less hard-core than this... if only for the user being "too interested for the mods to deal with them."

What are your questions?

Kevin

I think NAA will concentrate on what they currently are producing until they get caught up and the shortage of .22lr/.22mag ammunition eases up.

I was shopping in Springfield, Missouri, on Tuesday, July 30, while on vacation at my brother's home. Academy Sports in Springfield had nearly 20 boxes of CCI .22 WMR HP maxi-mags in stock, and they were selling them for $11.99 box - no limit. I took 3 boxes. I stopped in the next day on my way home to see if they had any left or if they had received any 9mm or .22lr. The .22mag was sold out, no new ammo had been put on the shelves.

The same Tuesday I stopped in at Bass Pro in Springfield. I was picking up some large pistol primers (2000 limit per customer, $37.99 per 1000) for my brother-in-law. They had about a dozen boxes of Winchester .40 S&W FMJ, 100 rounds per box (also $37.99/box). They had a sign stating there was a 5 box per customer limit on ammunition. I bought 3 boxes of it. They were out of all .22lr/mag and 9mm ammo.

I also stopped back there the next day to see if they acquired any new stores overnight. They were down to about 3 boxes of the Winchester .40 S&W and since I'd given one box to my brother, I picked up one of the boxes and took it to the counter. I got a different clerk this time, and he stared at the box for two or three minutes before stating he had to check with his supervisor to see if the 100 rounds meant it qualified as 2 boxes. I didn't want to argue that it was a moot point as that was the only ammo I was buying. It was about 10 minutes before he got back to the register to ring me up. I don't know if he had trouble finding the supervisor, if I fit some shoplifter/terrorist profile and was under scrutiny for that time, if it was SOP for discouraging daily ammo shoppers, or if he had to take a dump and that was the only excuse he could come up with to leave quickly.

Shopping my way out of the firearms/ammo section, I came across their snack bar and discovered packages of bacon jerky. I grabbed a few of those and took them to the hamburger/soda register only to be told that they couldn't ring those up for me, they could only sell the food they made there. I was directed to the sunglasses and jewelry register about 50 feet further into the store. I walked over there and was putting my bacon jerky on the counter when I saw a yellow 250 round "Megapack" of Remington UMC FMJ .40 S&W ammo sitting next to the register.

The sales girl didn't understand my comment: "Now you're just messing with me!"  >:(

TwoGunJayne

If you're looking for .40 s&w, I've found a few links showing fmj for less than $25 a box if you're just looking for plinker ammo.

Too bad the sales girl didnt ring you up for the jerky and the rest of your purchase. What is that when a sales girl can't sell you stuff that's in the store? It sounds of a rigged fixed price market.

A sad sign of the current times? Are we falling back to WW2 times or the shelf status of current Russia? The Russian "free market" led to massive lines, empty shelves, and no product in the hands of willing customers with money to pay. A Russian friend of mine has many stories to tell of that kind of situation. Maybe there is something to be said about fixed prices as perhaps not.

How about a single shot sidewinder in 50AE?
