This is my second post for this question.  The first didn't go through....I think.

My question is:  This past weekend I bought a NAA 22mag mini with 1-5/8 barrel.  While cleaning this little revolver I noticed the bore was extremely rough showing tool marks, especially the muzzle end where I could see more clearly.  I'm used to looking at bright shinny bores, at least on new guns.  Never have I seen a bore looking this bad.  I realize this revolver will never be a tack driver but to my way of thinking, a smooth bore is essential for any firearm to be as accurate as it can be.

Is this normal to see on new NAA 22's or do I have a problem?  I would appreciate any comments.

IT IS NORMAL TO SEE SOME TOOLING MARKS IN THE BORE OF THE NAA MINIS THIS SHOULD NOT EFFECT THE BULLET LEAVING THE BARREL OR ACCURECY PIE PAN SIZE AT SIX FEET. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE CALL NAA THEY HAVE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

pappy,

I see some marks in my bore as well. I must say though, that my mini is suprisingly accurate (paper plates easy out to 15 yards). I have the short barrel one. I would worry about it only if your gun is really inaccurate after you have gotten the hang of shooting it correctly. I would not judge the gun till you've put a couple hundred rounds of careful practice through it.

Tooling marks do not necessarily mean anything.

Some of the best shooting barrels can have tooling marks.

Then you can get a shiny one that cannot hit a barn.

Basically Shiny sells and if it shoots, good do not worry.

Mine has tooling marks and doesn't hurt accuracy.tom.

Thanks to all for your comments.  I value your opinions so I'll give it some time before passing judgment.  I also have a G32 and completely satisfied with its performance after the break-in period.  I wouldn't think the mini 22 would be any different.  Just concerned after seeing something in the barrel that I'd never seen before.  Thanks again.
