I bought a used mini magnum a while back (still haven't shot it yet). Any way it has some scratches/ruff spots and what looks to be some powder residue that I cant get off. If I send it to the factory will they be able to machine it or something to make it look almost new again? Or somewhere else I can have it done? Thanks.

If you send in an old NAA mini for repair, they will buff it to a nice shine, but I doubt they will do any further machining on it. But, buffing is probably sufficient to "clean it up."

First, welcome!!!!

I would send an email to customer service and ask them your question. My instinct is yes, they would, but, since they are so far behind demand, they may not want to take it on just yet. You will have to ship it via UPS or FedEx. They will charge between $40 and $60. You may be able to have a local Gunshop ship it much cheaper.

As to the powder residue, you can use 0000 (4 ought) steel wool and some lubricant - WD 40, Hoppe's 9, 3-in-1 oil or maybe even baby oil. Basically, something to keep the steel wool from scratching the firearm. Automatic transmission fluid is effective and cheap. Rub the face of the cylinder lightly. If it does not remove the fouling, rub it again. (This technique also works to remove rust from blued/SS guns. Just rub lightly until you get the feel for what you are doing.)

I have heard of guys using a brass tumbler(used for cleaning brass prior to reloading) to polish parts. It usually is not quick, but it was told to me to be effective. I have never tried this. One hazard to be aware of with the minis before trying this is the polishing media may work its way into the action, and that will create a problem for you.

Let us know how this works out for you. And go shoot your gun!!!!
