I need some help deciding on which mini to buy first.  A pug with a conversion Cylinder, or a Black Widow, with conversion.  I will be pocket carrying, but I also want it for plinking as well.

What do you guys think?

How good is the Pug at plinking?

How easy is the BW to pocket carry?

thanks

Maccab

Personally I'm of the opinion, the Sidewinder is best for plinking as the other models have a very minimalist design not really built for plinking in regards ease of reloading. Five shots or four is supposed to do a job, sort of thing. Suppose you could have spare cylinders, sort of magazine change but...

This debate could go on forever. Either way you go be assured you won't make the wrong decision. You already made a good decision to go with the conversion. My BW is a magnum and plinking is fast becoming out of the question with the price and availability (or lack) of ammo.

Welcome fx17,
I would go with the Black Widow. Very good for pocket carry.
It is not that much bigger than the Pug if you put smaller grips on it and it is much better for plinking.

Due to the ammo shortage, it also makes a larger chunk of metal to throw at someone. 8)

The Pug has excellent night sights available for a pocket defense handgun and is 1" shorter than the BW.  Both the Pug and BW have more useable fixed sights than the Sidewinder.  The BW is also available with adjustable sights but they make it more likely for the gun to hang up in your pocket on the draw. The advantage of the BW over both the Pug and Sidewinder is higher velocity from the 2" barrel.  I have owned several BW's and have not felt the need to switch to the Pug or Sidewinder.  When they make a Black Widow with a swing out cylinder then I'll make the switch.

Of course you will end up with both :)  However, my personal opinion I would opt for the BW first.  It is a little more to hold onto and slightly bigger to get used to the small nature of the NAA Minis.  In the end you will own the Pug for carry and the BW for range fun - not to say that both can't be used for both.  They are all really great little firearms.

This debate is easily solved. Pick the one you want FIRST, save your pennies, and then buy it. Then save your pennies some more and buy the second one. You'll never be satisfied until you have them both, so you might as well plan for a double purchase right from the start.

(This may sound funny, and it's meant to be, but I'm also dead serious. :)  Trust me from my experience. )

TwoGunJayne

Shhh... nobody tell him he'll end up getting two of each!  :)

No one can make that choice for you , but you ......... Buy the one you want the most and then buy the other one when funds will allow..........

I have bought three in the past 4 months!!! Two 1 5/8" conversions which I love and a Pug with the XS tritium sights!!! My next in a week or two will be another 1 5/8" conversion and a BW with fixed sights, unless I can talk the guy out of one or both of the Breaktops he has for a reasonable price!!! Once I have the BW it will be all about changing that front sight to the XS tritium like one the Pug!!! If they offered it then it would be a "no brainer" for me!!!

The sights on the Pug are not interchangable with the Black Widow..

Yes I noticed that!!! I will be looking into others and doing a mod to get what I want!!! I feel it Can Be Done!!!

They should consider offering it from the factory!!!

G50AE

Get both, and a sidewinder too.  :D

The Pug isn't really a plinker, IMO.  They are both great for carry and can save your bacon in a pinch.  If plinking is important, you'll appreciate the longer range aspirations of the BW.

I want glowy trit sights for BW. Why does the Pug get all of the fun?

If you get a Glock, you can get any type of site you want.

The last time I checked, the Pug and the Black Widow were made by NAA, NOT Glock!

My vote is PUG, after I got it, pretty much everything else is on Safe Duty, minus something a little bigger in my backpack.  I rarely carry anything else on body but my PUG, unless I am on the road, then I'll keep a second one on body.

bud

I have the pug and the black widow. I like the B.W. more than the Pug for several reasons, but I carry the pug and the B.W. is in the safe. Why is that?  LOL ???

One of these days I'll be able to join in on this conversation , right now I have neither but I believe that BW will be first pretty much because of more for the price anyhow . :) :)

Regardless of wheather they server safe duty or not, a 2 inch black widow, sidewinder, and WASP are on my list.

Dinadan

I have a BW and a Pug and I say Pug first with a conversion cylinder. The BW is a more accurate plinker and has better ballistics, but I shoot and carry the Pug more. Just my thoughts.

PugNStuff

I also have a Pug and BW. I wouldn't consider either plinkers, certainly not the Pug. If you are going to pocket carry
then get the Pug, IWB then get the BW. The BW is easier to shoot but the Pug is cool.

I think Glock does make a PLASTIC Mini Revolver!!! I have one, it is ALL PLASTIC and comes with a laser sight!!! $4.99 and you will really be Shocked the way it shoots!!! I don't carry it much because I prefer guns made of Steel!!!

I

Is that chambered in 3 milliwatt? It's got that high-capacity 3-watch-battery magazine, right?  8)

Goatpacker

Yep!!! Glock's first venture into the mini revolver market. Plastic is the wave of the future!!!

Who did the engraving- Mattel?

I don't know if it was Mattel or the factory??? Mattel is a Special Run Distributor for them like Talo is for the NAA's!!!

PRM

I recently bought a BW in .22 LR and as soon as I walked in the door with it my wife got soo excited that I had bought her a gift :o  So I promptly bought another BW in .22 Mag/.22LR.  We have both been extremely pleased with the BWs.  The two inch barrel, enhanced sights, larger magnum frame and the over sized grips make these little guns a pleasure to shoot.  I can easily get 2-3 inch groups at 15 yards with it.  The quality control and precision build on these guns is really over the top.  On our first trip to the range, I had left my .22 LR cylinder at home.  At the loading bench, I dropped my wife's cylinder in my gun and it slipped in like it came from the factory with the gun.  Lock up and timing  were perfect.

As far as carry, I bought my gun from a dealer who had been using the gun as his own personal CC.  The gun was 99% + and had only had a 1 box of magnums and 1 box and .22 LR shot through it. He said when he first started handling the NAAs it was his test gun. Got a great deal on it.  It came with a set of the PUG grips, original grips, and a Concealment Specialties pocket holster.  I did not really care for the feel of the Pug grips compared to the originals, so I swapped them back.  I am also in my 50s and I am well past the age of wearing tight fitting jeans...LOL.  Dropping the little BW in a pants pocket even with the over sized grips is not a problem for concealment.  It's so light and portable, you really do forget you have it on you.

Ditto a previous post that if they ever make a BW with the swing out cylinder, that would be the best of everything.

I just ordered my first mini in September. I opted for the Black Widow. I like the extra length over the Pug. The Black Widow just looks a little better, to me, too. I guess I will really see if it was the right choice when it gets here. I ordered a semi-custom one, so it could be a few weeks. But, it's already been 4 weeks, so hopefully not too much longer!

TwoGunJayne

Mind if I ask what semi-custom you have on the way?

TeeJay37

I got a BW conversion with fixed sites, swapped the cylinders for fluted ones and swapped the hammer to the Wasp style. I am definitely planning to post pictures once it comes in. I am thinking of getting the crimson CVang grips to go along with it, also.
