Anyone interested in a short? I believe they have 10 here at $200 each. Seems like a good price to me!!!!

I view my NAA short as an excuse to buy .22 short ammo. It's like the other day at the Great Wal of China where they actually had some rimfire for once. 17 hmr and .22 short.

A picture of my NAA short instantly popped into my head and I said, "three boxes, please." They're turning into smoke and won't last long... as it should be.

For some reason, I never seem to feel bad about burning up all of my .22 short, just the fact that I'm out at that point.

Wow. VERY COOL! I was looking for one of these awhile back, but I'm not now. (No, I didn't find one--my circumstances have changed.)

If anybody wants a short, you should grab one while you have the chance. NAA makes these only in batches, apparently, so if you miss the chance, you may have to wait awhile for another.

*ahem*

Anyway, that's not a particularly bad price even. I've seen NAA Shorts on a shelf for about 80 bucks more than that. I don't know how it happened, but I got mine used. $120.

I've never personally seen a used one on a shelf since... (except mine, of course.) That says a lot by itself, doesn't it?

You dog! Somebody apparently thought it was a toy and priced it as such.

I don't think I've EVER seen a use or new one on a shelf, even at my local dealer who always seemed to have 2 or more NAA's in his case.

I have a BW and a shorty.  If I were somehow required to get rid of one, I'd keep the shorty.  Short ammo has been available through the recent drought around here, and the fact that regular ammo can be modified to work well in the short makes it the perfect SHIF backup.

The ad says it weighs 4 lbs!!!- obviously a typo or it's made of cast iron.

Whoa! The new plutonium frame anti-recoil short got released? The "neutron star" technology wasn't supposed to be released yet!! That's supposed to be... oh...

sorry.  ::)

Anyway, love my NAA short. Seriously. It's killed snakes, raccoons, small game, popped tons of aerosol cans, soda cans, and I have several bits of sheet metal items that have been reduced. My proudest effort was to turn a 3-drawer filing cabinet into bits. Yeah, it took a few rounds... but guess what?!?!

:) (seriously, I've destroyed multiple filing cabinets with it, the 3 drawer one was the toughest.)

.22 short NAA fun? Build a campfire and shoot cans of WD-40 next to it. Use a short. Hit it in the dark? Even with a flashlight? So. Much. Fun.

jw1128

I picked up a short in the spring, so they are on about a 6 month cycle with them.

I got my short used at my favorite local pawn shop. Argued them down to $100 cause the grips were cracked and it didn't have the safety cylinder. I told them nobody would want one that wasn't safe to carry :)

Wish there was more of those wheeler dealers out there , fine job Kev .  8)

Bought my first short which was my first NAA in the early 70s. I now own 3 and if a really good deal on another came up, I would own it also.. Just think they are so neat. And I am so weak. My plan is to someday install a lanyard ring on one, so I can carry it on a chain around my neck, if I want to. If I found one with some wear, I might polish it also..

I have one I have carried every day for years now.  Always in my pocket in a little leather pouch, nothing else like it.  Larry

And the add should say "sights, blade front, none rear"

Here are my favorite .22 shorts: an Astra Cub from about 1955 and a Beretta 950 Minx, dunno what year, but older. The 950 is shown in a custom MadHat belt holster, which is slightly too big for the Beretta, but it still works. (Another example of MadHat's fine workmanship.)

I was shocked when I found that many for sale as they are very hard to find.
As I have said before. If I could only have one it would be my short....

I to spend two years looking for mine I drove hundreds of miles around and found none finally had to order it 199 what I paid for it

TwoGunJayne

Oh man, I know a shop that tries to keep one in stock, too. Sorry it took so long...

Jackalope Johnny

I've wanted one of those for years, so I just ordered one! I can'r wait until it arrives. I plan on making some "nasty nose" .22 short hollowpoints with my Paco Kelly tool. It should be devastaing on tin cans and such.

Those are so cool. I wonder if those will work on those crappy low density zinc-tin "lead free" bullets now that the US is no longer allowed to refine lead?

Unfortunately, I've been reading about the lead industry. Zinc mining is related to lead mining. Grr.  >:(

I don't think so because they are powdered and compressed, or something like that. They may disintergrate. I used to have some, so I will check and see it works.

I believe it helps, but wheat I really like is the ability to make a wide dish meplat on the nose, or a hollowpoint, or what they call the "nasty nose" which creates a post  in a hollowpoint like a Hydra shok.

TwoGunJayne

I keep meaning to make one on the lathe and keep forgetting to try. They look pretty simple...

Goatpacker

Hey JJ, did you order it from Woodbury???

Yes I did; I ordered it as soon as I saw this post last week. I also checked Gunbroker there are a few on there, but they range in price from $250 to $350!

Goatpacker

Thanks JJ, I saw the gunbroker ones but don't believe I want one at that price!!! Enjoy yours and I'll keep looking!!!

Well, these guys are out, but Bud's has some .22 Shorts now:

I just won a used one for $130 on GunBroker (sorry) lol

It's an older one without the safety notches.

I still want a new one, but not for $300+  The ones at Buds won't last long but some day soon I'll get one after a "batch" comes out. Maybe in the summer....the used one I bought should hold me over as a "backyard plinker" until I get a new one to use for very light clothing carry duty. My LR Mini does this job now but I want to go even smaller.

This is what I won, broken grips but I want to put woods on it anyway.

Someone added their own "safety notches" to the cylinder with a file, I'm thinking I'll have NAA fit a new cylinder. I do like the unfluted cylinder though, maybe they can add the notches or have a NOS unfluted one laying around....

Buds just sold out of the Short Minis, I was doing the checkout process and was going to layaway a Short and a Pug and as I was picking my FFL the status of the shorts changed to Sold Out.....oh well, $200 saved on an impulse buy lol and I did just win that older one
Looks like I'll be waiting for the next "batch" probably this summer if I want a new one, I'm not paying $350 for one of the GB listed ones.  I would rather save some of my gun cash and get the Tritium Pug
