Hi Everybody, Does anyone have any experiences with the Ruger LCP (updated trigger) version or the Smith & Wesson Bodygaurd 380 with Laser?  I'm thinking about adding another one and undecided which to purchase. I dry fired the LCP and liked the trigger over the Bodygaurd. The Ruger is cheaper but the Bodygaurd has some features the LCP does not. Any experiences that might help with the decision? Much Thanks

My suggestion would be to see if there's some way to try both guns before deciding. My experience with small pistols is that it's really hard to tell how they fit your hand until you actually fire them. I hated the LCP I bought when they were fairly new out, the problems I had with build quality, or lack of it jaded my view of it, but I would have likely kept it after getting it back from Ruger if it hadn't been so painful to shoot, I have big hands and somehow it just didn't work while other guns with similar or worse recoil have been fine. Regardless of any other factor, you want to find the gun that will fit your hand best or you won't enjoy it or shoot it well.

I've been thinking , OH NO ! , But with all these autos shrinking in size that blow forward idea becomes more interesting and safer , because of slide rips to hand . With these mini autos I'm kinda spooked about shooting them with that happening , twice over a lifetime to me and it hurts too .  ;) ;)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

I hear you about ripping your hand with a small auto. A relative of mine did it, jammed, then bled during their enhanced CCW class.

Ironically, they did it with a S&W Bodyguard .380 with laser.

I like the SW BG okay. Haven't tried the LCP yet. In a .380 that size, I swear by the Walther PP pattern. PPK and PPK/S are too small.

As I've said before, Bersa (of Argentina) has rather a lot of German expats. Their 380CC pistol basically *IS* a PP, one of the best .380 pistol patterns ever made. Aluminum frame, all steel slide, fixed barrel for accuracy. DA/SA auto with decocker safety.

Big enough to be really comfortable to shoot, really reliable (mine has never jammed with thousands of rounds through it,) and pretty accurate for what it is. I scored top three of my CCW class with it, outshot by two guys with full-size pistols and holsters. I was just toting the 380CC in a pocket.

I actually prefer the antique PP pattern to any of this new plastic stuff when it comes to small autos. I'm better with a PP on a quick draw from the pocket than the S&W BG .380 with laser. The laser is fun and all, but it actually slowed me down. Pull and point.

Break out the 3-D printer and start working, OV-1D.  :)

While I don't own either of the guns you are considering, I do have an LCP "clone" called the I.O. Inc. Hellcat.  I hated shooting it because of the sharp pain from the squared backstrap.  So I searched online and found a set of Hogue grips specifically made for the LCP, and ordered them, figuring they would work or get tossed out.

When they arrived, I made what alterations were necessary for them to fit on my gun.  That meant cutting off a hard plastic spring retaining cap at the bottom, and enlarging the retaining pin holes slightly at the top, since the Hellcat's pin location was not the same as the LCP's.  I then snugged it onto my pistol and inserted the cross pin.

The new grips has a palm swell on both sides which helped fill my hand better, and the rubberized material at the backstrap helped round out the square shape of the original grip.  There was no interference with the magazine release or inserting and removing a magazine.  The pistol was easier to shoot and the felt recoil was greatly reduced.

The best part is that with an actual LCP, you wouldn't have to make any alterations to the new grips except to install them according to instructions which come with it.
There is also the possibility that Hogue makes similar grips for the S&W Bodyguard as well.

I have the LCP, s&w bodyguard and the kahr cw 380. I have also owned a kel tec 32 and a 380 along with a Naa guardian.  I also have seven Naa 22 mag. I like pocket pistols.  Right now my favorite 380 is the kahr. I have six hundred rounds through it and no problems. It is the most accurate of all of them. The bodyguard has way to long of a trigger pull and I just don't like it. The LCP has always been reliable and I like it but still I carry the kahr and either a sidewinder or pug in my front left pocket.
