I just bought the 22 mag with conversion 22lr cylinder
When I looked at the cylinders I could not tell which was the 22lr or magnum
Then when looking real hard I saw the Capital  L  on one cylinder
The reason I could not make out the letter  L was because the muzzle end of the cylinder is dark  [Blackened]
The other cylinder  22Mag  had some darkness too
Is this factory or not
Thanks Alot

Some LR cylinders are marked LR, some just L. Most mag cylinders are not marked, though I have one that is stamped M. The blackening is just from shooting, you can polish it off. Here is a photo of three LR cylinders with the marking visible.

Presuming you are not talking about a C&B pistol, but a rimfire casing pistol:

A 22WMR ("mag") round will not load into the cylinder of a 22lr.
A 22lr round will "jiggle around" in the 22WMR cylinder.

Do not try to fire the 22lr in the 22WMR cylinder.  It will shoot, but the casing will split and extraction might be difficult.

I would be suspicious of any NEW NAA bought as new that was not black at the cylinder. They test fire at the factory and do not clean. Ruger is the same way as I'm sure several others may be,

I like my cylinder end dirty, I feel it closes up the cylinder gap and gives me more velocity... well in my mind, at least. Wishful thinking!
