Hi Grady - I think you are as crazy as I am. Good for you! Sounds like you're definitely hooked on minis.

Here is the web page for Spresser. He makes knives - but excels at stag grips, too.

Nice picture but...you might want to wipe that oily film off your nice new mini.  Did you drop it in a puddle?

silverback

Those are just perfect!!!  I can't stop looking at it.  Yes an earl with a rich case hardening would be killer.

Michael, I picked up my Case Harden, Gold Series and Bright Blued 22Mags this morning. The serial numbers are: CH 93, Gold :57 and Bright Blued :39. I am seriously thinking of ordering the other calibers in these models. Must be nuts! The Bright Blued gun with the Purple grips is Gorgeous! Will post pictures of all once I get photos. I have a Mac. Is it different posting pictures on this site with a Mac? Does anyone know?  Jack

Posting shouldn't change anything but you just gotta post those pictures , we feed off of them around here . :) There good for weight watchers because we spend all our cash on these mini's . :) :)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Sounds great! I'm thinking about another case hardened. BTW, my blued Magnum is #027.

Guys, Just making sure I know how to post pictures before taking pictures of my collection. That was just a picture of a mother and daughter of two of our past Irish Setters growing old.

New to this board. What is the advantage of case hardened ?

No advantage. Will show wear if gun is a daily carry. The large premium charged by NAA takes it out of the 'work gun' catagory in my book.
Looks like a million bucks though and would buy one if the additional tariff weren't so steep.

I've got the fever to buy one. I have watched this board for a while ,and
man I've got have one. I live near Fort Wayne In.
There is going to be a gun show the 17 &18 at the coliseum. I hope i can
get one then. If I'm real lucky two.

Hey Jack. Posting from a Mac is straight-forward and easy. It's the same as from a PC. So let's see those pics already! ;)

Yep, just a look. And they look real cool. Kinda like a really nice paint job on a car. Does nothing for performance but makes people turn their heads.
Welcome to the board!

Is this a stainless or carbon steel gun? Can you send a standard 22 stainless off to get colored like this?

PaducahMichael

Buffalo, I wish I knew. I wondered the same thing. Call NAA and ask - they're great about that sort of thing!

It is carbon. My guess is "NO" to having a SS gun CCH. The process has to do with changing the chemistry, somewhat like bluing does.

The CCH is done by Doug Turnbull of Turnbull Manufacturing. I emailed them regarding the durability of the finish. Seems the steel used in current manufacturing is much denser than 100 years ago, so the CCH process does not penetrate the metal as far, and thus is not as durable. It will wear if carried.

"Cold Blue," such as Van's, fails for certain on stainless. I tried. Even the bottle said it wouldn't work.

Wow it blew my mind that Turnbull does the Case Hardening on these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the best in the business for sure, I've seen some guns they which look better than the "Big Boys" did back in the day. I've held/seen pre-war Marlins they done which would knock your eyes out. If Turnbull does them, they have to be AT LEAST $600-$700 (maybe more?), right???

Nope, Gus, they're $399. Here's the link:  http://northamericanarms.com/22-mag-1-5-8-barrel-case-hardened.html

big gus-

While I have never met Sandy face to face, I have swapped a few emails and bought some of his products. I have also dealt with NAA customer service on a number of issues (I own a small gun shop and see some weird stuff.) It does not surprise me NAA uses the best available.
