I think since the weather is nice now we should have a little online shooting match just for fun. I'll call it the Cabin Fever Match and if there are a lot of people playing maybe we can make it an annual. What do you guys think? Let's play.

Rules and How to:
1. Use any NAA revolver you want with any ammo.
2. Distance is 7 yards shot unsupported hands only.
3. Make a target from a piece of printer paper and trace a quarter in the center for aim.
4. Only use one target and post the first and only target used (no shooting till you get a good one).
5. Write gun used, ammo used, and group size to nearest 1/16" from outside to outside of spread.
6. Take a pic and post.
7. Be honest!

This can be a lot of fun and I'll start off. I know you sharpshooters can do a lot better than this.
Remember!!! The only "Shame" to the "Game" is Dishonesty!!!
If you play. Post It

Funny thing Goat without looking I can always tell its you by the distinctiveness of your stag grips every set is so signatured . Mine are the same way which is pretty cool when you think of it . Even more so if one makes their own sets in antler , serial numbers not needed , ha . :) :) Fine shooting by the way .  :)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Goatpacker

Thank You, I love the stags. I know what you mean about making your own and some day I will put forth the effort. I know I can do it but just have not made it a priority to take the time yet for those. I make a lot of handmade stuff as it is and also like to help out and purchase other people's crafts that I know they put a lot of work into for little money in my opinion. I say this from experience with my own crafts. Lots of people say "you made this"? Then they want you to make them one for free. Some people just don't understand the thinking, time, effort, and expense of making something by hand! Me I'm not one of those and truly enjoy my own crafts and other peoples too. Finding a craftsman and supporting them is a circle and we should all keep it going around and around.

TwoGunJayne

I like this idea, but my shooting area is filled with motorcycle campers at the moment. I'm in, it'll just be a couple of days.

Goatpacker

2gun, I know not all are as fortunate as I am with being able to go shoot off the back porch at anytime they please. Being that is is "for fun" then let them come in as they want. I would like to see a pretty good response this time and maybe next time we could put a reasonable deadline on the thing and put up a "prize" of some sort?

TwoGunJayne

Quote2gun, I know not all are as fortunate as I am with being able to go shoot off the back porch

I'll be able to once they leave on Sunday.  ;)

About the match, can we "enter more than once?" One cylinder, 5 shots, 1 target only. Repeat for a different gun? 2 guns, 2 targets, 5 rounds only per target.

I want to show what my short can do with the right ammo, but also want to show how the laser really dials in my 1 5/8 LR only frame. All NAA accessories allowed?

What about those crazy scoped mini-masters? Do we need an "unlimited divison?" :)

Goatpacker

This the kind of input I was hopeing for. Being just for fun I don't think we need divisions as long as they show what they used and we will all be able figure out what advantage they may have.
As far as entering more than once, I see no problem with it as long as it is a different gun or even just different ammo in my opinion. I was just trying to keep someone from making 10 targets and posting the best one of the bunch. If that was the case "even a blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while" kinda thing.
They key to it all is just be honest! We will all appreciate it and learn from it. We can all "rib" each other and have a lot of fun with it.

With enough participation and once again HONESTY we will all be able to learn a lot about ammo selection, barrel lengths, grips, model types, as well as sight options available. I hope we get some of the guys with the scoped MMasters as well as some with the lasers. We can all learn from it!!!

Goatpacker this is the reason I like this forum so much. You guys make it so interesting.

Dinadan

I will try to get in on this. It is kind of funny, but very often my first five shot group is my best. I was out shooting today and put fifteen rounds each through my Black Widow, my Sidewinder, and my LR. I started with the BW at a range of 25 to thirty feet, and the first group was pretty darned good. I had some that were worse but none that were better after that first group.

OV-1D

Sounds about right Dinadan after about anybodies mini's third shot with bad guys its best to be on your way anyhow . It's been fun but I gotta go now so to say , LATER !  :) :)

I haven't fired my shorty all winter.  This is 5 shots, no practice, no warm-up.  Sets the bar low.  At least 2 hit paper.  I'm guessing we will have some posers and fakers with their "I shoot walnuts at 20 yards" posting their 5 shots in dead center, but this is honest and real.  I'll do some practice shots to zero in my BW.  (I FAILED my CCW permit test last week with 5 shots grouped OFF target.  BUT I grouped them low and left within 3" and the instructor said "You know what you did and what you need to do.")  I will enjoy seeing what some cold-shooting dudes do without any practice shots. I challenge our members to post a set of cold shot targets along with their "after I zeroed in" shot targets.  Cold Shot groups show me what a guy (or girl) would shoot in a sudden confrontation on the street.  Integrity is what you do when nobody is looking over your shoulder.  I appreciate that we have some posters here with Integrity.

Goatpacker

I Love it!!! Honesty at its finest. I to expect to see some dead center tight groups with "powder burns" on the paper. I'm going to shoot my short tomorrow, as well as my 1 5/8" and post them too. Keep them coming guys!

TwoGunJayne

Sunshiny day, got my Short and 100 rounds of CCI CB. I'll post "before" and "after."

Yay! Shooting!

Goatpacker

Posting 2 more from some of my other minis. Got lucky on the shorty, usual don't shoot it very good.

swolf

VERY nice group with the Shorty!  (And I looked for the powder burns!)  Mine seems to keyhole on 1 out of 5 also.  I have 20 mph winds here today, but I'm inspired to throw a few rounds downrange again.  My BW is feeling like the red-head step child, so that one needs a few rounds too.  I forgot about my cache of CB and
Colibri rounds, so that will be my Ammo-de-jour.

Goatpacker

Thanks and have some fun. It is gusting to a little over 20mph here too. That is why I'll say again that "I got lucky on the Shorty". I'm pretty sure I can't do it again even in a dead calm.

sidewinder_shooter

This was mine, with one cylinder for a warm up.  Couldn't do a measurement due to too many holes in the cardboard background.  To be continued this weekend...

OV-1D

 I can never find the target after I use my 12 gauge on it . I'll keep looking though . :) :) :) :)

swolf

Prevailing headwind coming straight off the target direction with light drizzle.  Not a fun day to shoot.  I warmed up with 4 cylinders to zero in (remember, I'm the guy who failed his CCW test completely missing the initial target.)  I measured my 7 yards with a tape measure and realized my step/pace is off a bit.  I'm used to shooting magnums in my BW, so it took me a few shots to stop flinching.  And now I realize I need more range time to STOP FLINCHING.

cfsharry

swolf,
What are the minimum standards required to pass the CCW test in your state?
Here in WI no shooting test required.  Not convinced that's a good thing.

No shoot for base CCW badge, enhanced pretty CCW badge has a firing requirement. I'm talking about my state.

To carry lawfully as a school teacher these days requires an enhanced. I've heard a few birdies sing something about "stuff either happening or not happening."

Hard to say. That's a very touchy subject.

Anyway, tornado storms near again tonight. I thought the brief afternoon sunbreak was a trap. I stayed safe with a pound of tuna, pressure cooked.

swolf

cfsharry: The class I took was standard NRA certification.  The instructor had posted "test" requirements which simply was 6 shots in a paper plate at 21 feet two hand, strong hand, weak hand.  He didn't hold that too strictly, and seemed to be watching more for safe handling, ability to reload, and having a group that showed basic control.  My one-hand strong shots all missed the target, but grouped nicely on the backstop.  Embarrased was I.  But there were other shooters who were all over the place.

223fan

Hopefully I'll post mine tomorrow or friday

cfsharry

swolf,
I'm pretty sure I would have trouble weak hand as I never practice that way.  I'll have to give it a try when I shoot for the "Cabin Fever" competition.  Been waiting for the weather to improve. Hopefully this weekend.
By the way, what pistol did you use for qualifying?  Could it be whatever you chose or did it have to be the gun you would carry?

OK, finally had the time to get outside and set up a target and give this a go. Here are my results with my Pug at seven yards using Aguila Super Colibri .22lr. Roughly 1 1/2" spread but a little bit high of bull.

sidewinder_shooter

Rougets, that great shooting.

I want to get a MM next or an Earl, but when I see grouping like that from a pug, I don't see a reason for the longer barrels

Goatpacker

Very nice shooting there, I agree that a longer barrel should be more accurate but don't think one needs much better than that, especially at the expense of ease to conceal.

Just a question Roguets were you targeting or using freehand with the grouping I'm guessing you were targeting unless you've been shooting very often . Sure was great grouping with that shorty .  :)

Not sure what you mean by "targeting," possibly you mean using a rest? This group was shot freehand, no rest, while standing at 7 yards with a two hand grip. I have not shot the Pug in some time, hence the high shooting. I did not quite remember the exact sight picture to use and evidently I misjudged a little high but thank you none the less.

Just glad to see you post a target. A real good one at that. I was starting to think that very few of us actually shoot the little guns.

Come on guys! It only takes reading the rules, a sheet of printer paper, and yes I know the hardest part 5 rounds of ammo! Get out there and shoot your guns. We all need to practice.

Just bought the black widow and here are my first two rounds at 7 yards.
