Is there a thread somewhere that i am missing with pics?    I searched, but did not find one.      Would like to see some 22lr models with boot grips or the oversize rosewood grips, if anyone has any.

I think I bought the last 2 sets of engraved magnum grips for my Rangers (Breaktops).

I have a picture of a LR with boot grips in the classified add.   Shameless plug, they are for sell. Lol.   I think I have a picture somewhere with the oversized wood grips on a LR.   Jim

 Just finished this set of oversized birdshead boot grips for this Freedom Arms piece . English Walnut from a 1800's S&W set that I found on the net and converted them . Feel real good in the hand and can wrap my middle finger around the birdshead section . How do they look ?  :)

OV-ID - those grips look good. That wood has beautiful grain and polish. The size and shape perfectly complements that revolver.

 Thanks gentlemen seems the smaller the grip the bigger hassle it is to work with , if I dropped them once making them I dropped them a couple of dozen times and making the escutcheons and screw dang I thought like my hands were numb  . Rewarding thought .  :)

I know what you mean about dropping them. When I am working on NAA grips I use a lot of double sided duct tape to stick the grips to my fingers. Maybe I should make some duct tape gloves and sell them for men like me.

Just finished what I call my Matt Dillon's made from sambar stag antler. Dremel machines are the tops for making small products even if it's a one of a kind piece , can't imagine trying to mass produce such stuff .  Oh and the kids of course waiting for Mom .

OV-ID - Beautiful material and workmanship. I have never made any boot grips, but I agree that the Dremel is tops for grip making.

  Thanks Dinadan I suggest everyone to immerse themselves in making their own pieces of art nobody needs to be in any hurry could take months who cares but the finished product is always worth the effort . Keeps one mind off of buying guns also especially when you have more than enough . Besides everybody has a learning curve that gets better and better as one moves on , just getting started is the worst part . always good to have a few going at the same time for diversification . Got some secrets for setting up jigs for making grips if anyone needs to know , just ask . Total of six hours from start to finish on these spread over weeks . Enjoy . :) :)

As much as I like natural wood, if I had to choose, I'd have to go with the stag.
Have you ever thought about carving headstones?  Wife and I have been discussing ours and trying to decide between two carved squirrels or two cherubs.  You up for the job.

 Have these almost finished , legally taken elephant ivory , but I'm not happy with the shape . They fit great in the hand just not the style that makes it look western enough ( going on another Earl of course ). Trying to save as much ivory and get the shape I'm looking for , any ideas ? Might have to keep sanding to get closer to the sambar stag set above , maybe finger grooves would help to match grip of hand , hate losing the material though .

  Biggest trick Evan , don't be in too much of a hurry , thanks by the way . :) Those spacers Evan are made of some South American mahogany type stuff , what I've been told , which is so plentiful down there they make shipping pallets with it .  :)

OV-ID - this should really be in another thread. Those grips are not LR and fully deserve their own topic. Very nice workmanship. I think I understand why you are not happy with the shape. On the other hand, if I were making them, it would be hard for me to start changing something that looks so good right now.


By the way, after thinking it over for a few days, I think your "kids" should have spiked collars like wolfhounds in the middle ages. Make them look more fierce.

  Sorry everyone I seem to have overlooked the L.R. thing guess that's what I get from looking at pictures so much .  :)  Anyhow just think scale down , ha .  :) Point being making your own is gratifying and builds charater and confidence for better shooting and handling .  :)

Dinadan these guys make great noise boxes but thats about it to be honest with you , they look and sound fierce (except the female , closest one , kinda wimpy voice) but won't let anyone get close . As hard as they play together they would end up stabbing eachother to death with spiked collars .  :-\
