What could this be?

Some of the gray haired guys may be able to tell what this is.    Anyone have a guess.     Jim

Half-elf here.

That is a "steel thumbnail," an archaic tool. It also looks to be a component of a marsupial unicycle. On one of those, it could be anything from a pseudo chariot spike to hub component.

Also, tiny claw hammers.

:)

It's a Rhamphorhynchus wing digit claw...I have several! No, wait, it's a comma! No..., I'm sure it's a Rhamphorhynchus wing digit claw. Although, it could be a trigger shoe!

Does anyone like Tyler T's on the J frames.  I like them on my Mini also.   Jim

Hows it attach ? Double sided tape ?  :)

The Tyler-T grips have two thin metal clips that go under the grips. They are very secure attachments to the gun.

All of my J frames have Tyler-T grips, they make a world of difference in comparison to the standard service stock.

I think the company is still in Oklahoma City.

I have some tape that you have to pry off to get it off after it sets.     It makes the gun more shootable to me.   Taking up that space behind the trigger.    I started with a chunk of aluminum.   Made a pattern I wanted and magic marker it on the aluminum and started cutting grinding and filing.  I like the way it turned out.    Jim

n9znd

On my J-Frame it does have the 2 Brass tangs that go under the grips to hold secure.   I still put the tape under my Tyler T to make it more stable and secure.   I hate any movement at all and there was some there when I installed it.    But it does make the J frame a shooter.  Got to give my little Taurus 605 props, it is a great gun.   Kept it over my S&W J frame (still got a 686 though).     Jim

OV-1D

Now that's really cool making it yourself , nice job and I have experience with that double sided tape and it works great on any application . Might just have to buy a set of those for one of my mags if your willing just to see how it feels . :) :)

After having it on my Mini for a day I tried to test how tight it still is and it Ain't going no where.  I thought about trimming the tape a little thinner to hide it a little because you can see it if you really study it but I think I will leave it because it is STUCK!!      I will say I am proud of the way it turned out.    The guys here at work thought I bought it.           It took 2 hours to make it and would be hard to duplicate and fit without gun being there.    Jim

Nice.
Does it allow two fingers on the grip?  Does the top finger interfere with trigger pull?

n9znd

You really cannot get your finger that high on the mini to get it behind the trigger so you have a finger and a half on it but it feels a lot more positive and you have a lot better control on the mini.   If you hold the gun you will see that you have a void right where the grip adapter would be (with the boot grips).   One handed shots with the LR frame is no problem now.      Jim

n9znd - that is a very nice idea. I have made several efforts to create grips that fill in the gap behind the Mini's trigger, but without a lot of success. I have also cut down a pair of oversize rubber grips to achieve the same goal. They work okay, but are not at all stylish. I never thought about doing what you have done - looks very good.

n9znd

  Thanks Dinadan,
I have made several grips for Minis also, some I have liked some not so much.   I will say that I really like my effort this time.   This little grip adapter really is functional.    I think in a Magnum frame it would even be better.    I think it could also be done in wood also.    I was originally going to do it in wood but my wife had a minor surgery yesterday and I had to be home with her so I had a few hours of nothing to do and decided to just tackle it in aluminum.     I think I really want a Magnum frame now also so I can make one for it.     Jim

Very nice work! I love your "clamps"...:)

If he had used black zip ties it would look more "tactical", however using flex-cuffs of any color would be even more "tactical" still.

I've never been a fan of boot grips.  Quickly replaced on my 686 with a Hogue fingered grip.
I would be interesting to see grips made that incorporated the fill area into the wood grips.
The next CVang model?

I found the 22lr impossible to shoot with the stock grips, so just went with the grip holster.

You know whats cool about your filler piece it improves the grip without increasing the footprint for which the mini was made for to begin with , small and unnoticeable . Good for you , maybe Sandy might see this and give notice for accessories .  :)

It would be cool if it did take off.   We can't call it the Tyler T grip adapter.  Maybe we can call it the Jimmy D grip adapter   ;)   .    Jim

It would be nice if North American could start making these adapters? I winder if Tyler-T grip has a patent on it and no one else could make them??

I kind of want to try this grip type, since I'm still waiting for Brian to beat cancer and start making fiber grips again. Hope he's alright, he hasn't updated in a while.

n9znd

There may be a patent for the Tyler adapters.  But when the original owner got sick and the company went belly up there is a guy that started to make BK adapters and people really like them also.  There has been a few different people that has tried over the years.  I remember seeing some on Ebay a few years back that was made of plastic but they didn't last to long.      Jim

TwoGunJayne

Plastic, you say?

Mr_22, how tough of a 3d print do you think this would be?

n9znd

3D printing or the BK grips are molded plastic.       Machining Aluminum may not be cost effective.   Pretty cool ideas.   Jim

It's an easy 3d print.  The trick is to get it scanned with a 3d scanner.  My former company wouldn't allow guns on site.  The little quarter moon sharp, no one would know. Easy.

If you are going to make a 3d print, why not make the filler piece into two piece grips?
NAA is missing out on mid size grips for the 22lr frame.  A MINI MASTER grip scaled down to fit the 22LR frame would be nearly perfect.

I have always redone Grips on NAA's.    I think a CV grip would be awesome with the little grip adapter that I made.      Here  is a BW grip I redone.  Jim

You do that to too many and you might just end up in a padded little white room ........................ like mine . Just how long did that take you N9 ?

My wife says that I am a busy bee and if I can't be doing something I would be in a padded room.   Between being a Ham, shooting pistol comps, racing BMX and my new passion riding my Yamaha TW200 in the woods I still manage to find time to do the Wifey list.
I took quite a bit off the grip before Stippling it and I probably had a couple of hours in it.   I did a couple of them like that.    Jim.

Jim,
Those grips are beautiful!!!!
Keep up with all you are doing, that is the sure prevention of winding up in the laughing academy!!!

Also, frequent trips to your LGS to pick up yet another NAA mini is also a sure cure for any ailment!!!!
