Looking to buy a unfluted 22 magnum cylinder for my Pug, Like the one's from a Black widow revolver.

Thanks, Indy

ikoiko

One has to be sure that the cylinder is timed to the gun so that cylinder and barrel are properly aligned. Send back to naa for them to fit one. One bought at random, may or may not align with your barrel.

As long as the total length of the cylinder is the same it will work, I took to 22LR cylinder from my other NAA convertible and it works and functioned fine. I know Ruger cylinders  can be swapped out as long as the total length is right.

Ikoiko gave you good advice.

Again, it is the timing that can/does vary. If out of time, the bullet will not be centered with the barrel.

Putting in a new cylinder CAN work, if it happens to live up correctly, but you're not guaranteed that. Shaving lead because of a mismatch is not a good thing.

I agree with the timing issue spoken of by ikoiko, and Mr22.

You should be able to check the timing with a wooden dowel with exactly the same diameter as the .22 barrel. Run the dowel down the barrel (gun unloaded, of course!!!) and if it easily slides down into the cylinder, you're probably good to go. If it hangs up at the cylinder, you may have a problem.

I used this method to determine whether I swapped cylinders on my pugs.  I had some chopsticks (the larger kind that are not attached) from a take out order and they were the perfect size.  The hammer leaves a horizontal mark that should be between 12 and 6 on a clock.  The first one I measured was at 11 and 7 and the second was off as well.  Once I swapped the cylinders, I opened a second set and found them to be exactly in the middle.  Range time later that day proved that they were now in the correct pugs.

Now I have a puzzler , I bought a cylinder and four out of five line up and lock perfectly but that fifth one the hammer doesn't hold locked and cylinder doesn't line up or lock . Weird huh . Some other guns it doesn't hammer lock at all go figure . This is a Freedom Arms model by the way . Got any answers anyone .  :-\
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

This is exactly the problem I had with my 2 Pugs with consecutive serial numbers.

Either I mixed up the cylinders with a little pre-range lube or they were switched at the factory.

At the range, they shot the first 4 rounds perfectly but neither would fire the 5th.

I tried two full cylinders with both pugs before I gave up.

You could pull the hammer back and it would not lock into place.

Swapping the cylinders solved my problem.  Perhaps a new cylinder is in order?

One of three things:
The cylinder was not drilled correctly.
Or the locking notch was not cut correctly.
Or the ratchet on the back of the cylinder was not cut correctly.
