I am just wondering how often folks shoot their NAA Mini revolvers. If you like, please comment on the places you like to shoot and why you like them. Photos of the places and the shooting and the guns would be great!

Goatpacker

I shoot one of mine at least every third day for one reason or another. I have a practice session with them weekly shooting targets, cans, or whatever looks like it could use a few holes.

Every time you pull the trigger.  You shouldn't dry fire rim-fire firearms, so every time you pull the trigger, it fires.

Boy ! Do I hate cleaning guns as a rule but if you fire them you gotta clean them . :) :)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

I selected once or twice a month. Over the past couple of years I think I have averaged twice a month. Usually I will take two or three Minis when I go kayaking and stop along the way and shoot fifteen or twenty rounds out of each. This past year my favorite plinkers have been Sidewinder, 3" Earl, 1 5/8" Magnum Mini. Last time I was out I took my Black Widow instead of my Earl. I really do want to shoot it more for a while. Below is a photo of a typical place where I stop. You would think it would be private, but there are these darned birds that sit around watching the area.

I voted weekly because I am in the county in Virginia and just go outdoors most any time I feel like shooting which, because I'm new to the NAA minis; is almost every day. I am retired and a collector of unique things in miniature, so the revolvers were very appealing to me.  I would take one or a few with me when I go into the Shenandoah National Park (Skyline Drive) or Geo. Wash. National Forest (Blue Ridge Parkway) except they are federal properties and firearms are prohibited; we were hassled years ago while surveying up there, we used jeeps and guns in our day to day work.  The jeeps were allowed, our guns weren't; yet the ranger giving us the third degree had a sidearm. Just the way it is sometimes.

I've never shot a Mini, but I shot a Triumph Herald once, it was my brother's, I was resting on the tail fin to take a shot with my air rifle and didn't allow for the scope barrel relationship and put a nice ding in the fin on the other side of the car - oops :(

The rest of you guys seem pretty rough on your vehicles shooting them regularly :) :)

Ah, now you can increase your carry frequency.  As long as you are licensed to carry in the state of the National Park, you may carry.  Obama actually signed the law!  Shooting, now that can be a different situation.  "Target practice" when not self-defense can still be prohibited in some parks.

You Missed out you should have nOt often enough as a choose.
I'm lo lucky enough to not live in city but do have to drive some 7 mil.  To shoot

I  would love to live somewhere where I could just shoot on my own property, then it would be almost an everyday occurrence. Having to drive somewhere to shoot so often ends up with there not being time to do so, I plan to go then a couple of things crop up and then suddenly I realize I don't have time to get there and back and have more than ten minutes to shoot. My wife however would not be able to handle being so far from civilization. By civilization I mean Walmart and the Mall.

I'd shoot it weekly if I could get the ammo for something less than the price of 7.62x39 per round.

Other factors are contributing to my only occasional plinking and practise.

Goatpacker

Hey Redhawk, maybe you should open a target range at the mall, I'm sure there would be several guys that would appreciate that.

Well other than you aren't (officially)  allowed to take guns into the Mall, so it would have to be a virtual one LOL, otherwise it would be a good idea, real men are usually pretty bored at the Mall and need some distraction and a release foe internal stress and aggression. I can just imagine my wife's face if I said "Honey I'm just off to the Mall Again" - she'd really think she'd managed to change me after all :)

No that's my recreational property - I would live near there if I could, winter access to the property would be a pain, but I love that area of UT.

Currently I live in the suburban sprawl that is the UT valley, not too far from MR22, I'm sure I could see his house from mine if I knew where to look through a telescope. Come to that if I knew where he lived I'd probably go over there to look at his gun collection while he's at work :)

Nice view!  If I had that out my window I would be shooting something or other almost daily.

Goatpacker

Thank Y'all. I Love it, the view is like that 360* around the log house and the porch is 360* as well. Right now the turkeys are breeding and around the house all day long. Even drink from the bird bath that is 10 yards from the front door.

TwoGunJayne

Wow, GP! That's pellet rifle distance! :)

Goatpacker

Defiantly, Im out of 20 cal pellets and need to order some more. I made some 12" razor tipped broad heads for my .64 cal blowgun and that is within range as well but turkeys are very tough birds and I would not want to wound one. Had pigs in the driveway last evening and there was a dozen or so 25lbers. Those I would take a shot at.

I have a 3" .50 and a 7" .50, both home made. I found some glass marbles that fit and fly without a cloth patch. It's fun whacking stuff with them.

I hear something like the Air Force Condor in .25, or Theoben Eliminator .22 are small pig (javelina, peccary) air guns (25-50lb.) I'd want a firearm as backup, though. Big monster feral sows (300+ lbs and WAY up) seem darned near bulletproof.

Goatpacker

The sows are tough and the boars even more so. Get between a sow and her babies and there will be trouble. Went out with two young cowboys from down the road the other day and they forbid anyone to carry a gun for safety of their dogs. Of course I had my minis but did not tell them. They killed a 200 lb sow by jumping into the water with it and stabbing it in the armpit with a huge knife. I loaded it up to carry to the processor and before I got back they had caught 3 more sows and had them hog tied to come back with the trailer to load them.

That's one heck of a pic. Eat them up!!

Dinadan

Goatpacker - I like the view from your place. I grew up in the country, now I am a city man. Looks like you are in the Southwest? Anyway, I do miss being able to step out into the pecan orchard or field and do a little shooting. Since I am in the edge of a city, I do not have far to go to get to shooting territory.

hes from texas. cant you tell from the water bowl?

Yep! You got it, bird bath is a dead give away!

Kentucky Kevin

Went shooting today for about 45 min. still hitting golf balls at 10-12 feet, not well past that. still have not painted them . Conversion kit for my glock was doing light hammer strikes, works as a 9mm, but I don't like to shoot the primer, brass, and lead when I can shoot the 22lr
