Just wanted to know how the book was coming along? Can't wait to read it. Please let me know when I can buy a copy. Will you autograph it for me? Hope everything is going great. Please give us an update!

Very well, actually. A literary agent in southern California has it now. She requested the full manuscript and said she loved it, but then proceeded to ask for revisions. I've been told an agent asking for revisions is HUGE. Usually they don't have time to work with authors if they don't like it "as is."

So, I spent some time revising according to her suggestions (which suggestions I thought were VERY GOOD, btw, and greatly improved my book). Then I sent it back. She's had it now for just over two weeks. This business is a waiting game, I'm finding out. When I get further news, I'll let you know!

Heard back from the literary agent today. She said my revisions were "fantastic!" and she will now proceed to share my manuscript around the office for more feedback. This sounds very good! :-)

Thanks for asking, Jim. I'd be happy to tell you about my book. It's a middle-grade novel primarily targeted toward boys in grades 4-7. Here's a summary:

The story is  about the invasion of a local elementary school by a race of flatulent aliens who are assimilating the kids into the alien race by teaching them a goofy alien language by telepathy. Once they have learned the alien language, which is completely voluntary, they become full-fledged aliens themselves, which turns out to be a good thing, at least for most people. They then try to hide their identity as aliens as they try to convert more kids into being aliens. There are those who are not at all happy about the invasion of earth and the assimilation of earth's kids, so they have created the Alien Resistance Coalition, and they fight against those who are spreading the alien race across the earth.

That's the general gist of it. It's a fun gimmicky book that kids of that age should have fun reading. While I think it's a fun story, the plot is actually a metaphor for growing up and changing into adults--which often seems very foreign--or alien--to young kids.
