Which of the Cvang mag grips is lighter in weight - the Dymondwood or the glass filled plastic?

The grip weight is truly trivial. Plastic likely weighs less. I have no scale. Is there some particular reason for your weight concern?

Chip

I have found that weight is as important, if not more so, than size in a pocket carry gun.  I want to keep the weight to a minimum so that I will be motivated to carry all the time.  I wish CVang would respond to emails - I have sent several and I am hesitant to order from someone who will not even answer a pre-purchase question?  I assume you bought from him - did that go OK and how long ago was that.  Thanks

Grips from him are generally to me under two weeks. I have bought from him off ebay as well.

Don't get me wrong weight is VERY IMPORTANT. But what ISN'T is when the difference is so miniscule its not noticeable.  :o ::) ;D

If I am interested in someone's product and send an email asking a question that does not get answered in a reasonable amount of time? I have no further interest in their product. sorry if that sounds wrong to anyone, but that is not a good start on a business deal no matter how good your product may be.

As good and reliable as Chong has been for me, I would have to know the who, what, when, & where of the e-mail.
I won't lower my respect for Chong just because one newbie has e-mail problems.
I have bought 10-12 sets with no problems what so ever.

As far as the weight goes between the materials in Chong's grips, if there is worry about that little, then there should be worry in the weight difference between hollow point and solid nose ammo.

Unc_Lee after seeing your walnut grips I went to buy some and alas this guy doesn't make them any longer in hardwoods , DANG !!!!! Always a bridesmaid and never a bride . ;) ;) I've had enough of laminated woods and want the real things and surely no plactics . Oh well I guess talking you out of a pair I'd have to buy the gun also . Thanks for the memories . :) :)

Lee,
When you're right, you're right.
For the truly weight conscious, I pulled the bullets from both a 40 gr. solid and a 40 gr. hollow point so as to weigh and compare them and found the hollow point is way, way lighter.
I know the skeptics will say that 40 grs. is 40 grs. but I think the air trapped in that hollow point makes it lighter.
It's hollow tips for me from now on for lighter carry.
Thanks for the heads up Lee.

Lighter carry would be take a quarter (maybe a nickel also) out of ones pocket and there you go , DANG I feel much more relieved now or was that I just took a leak . ;) ;) At least I don't have to change the DEPENDS NOW , I THINK ?  ;)

I did not mean to start a weight war - I have just found that a few ounces makes a difference in pocket carry and am a believer in the "carry all day everyday" philosophy.  I was carrying a Kel-Tec p-32 and it is the lightest center fire pistol.  I found the PUG to be even lighter and easier to carry than the Kel-Tec - especially in light summer garb.  I did not want to possibly lose that advantage to grips made out of Dymondwood which is noted for being a heavy material.  (BTW - I carry hollow points but only because it is all I can get right now).

Regarding Cvang and his lack of response.  I am not "some newbie with email problems".  I sent him 2 emails through his website and 3 more through his add on Ebay - to no response.  I have read elsewhere that he is now noted for this.  I am not judging him but if one does not want my business enough to answer an email I do not feel good about sending them my VISA #.  Yesterday I sent him a final email at his website and told him that.  He responded and said he did not know the weight of his products.  Since he did respond, I went ahead and ordered a set of the plastic/fiberglass grips.  Glad to hear you folks have had good experiences with him and I hope to also.  Thanks for your feedback.  Speak softly, carry consistently. be safe-

Weight concerns are for good reason for the person that has that reason. I have done a lot of high mountain backpack hunting and build my own rifles for that purpose as well as select my gear carefully with weight and utility as the sole consideration. I'm the guy that started off several years ago cutting the handle off my toothbrush because I saw no need for the extra weight.

Whatever reason one has for being concerned with weight of something they carry is fully understandable to me.

After living these so many years and being around the general public I've learned 80-85 % of people should not leave their easy chairs and or couches because of their inability to do anything except breath so weight distribution affects a very small minority , very small . Really if the weight difference between a hollow point and a hard nose bullet , no matter how many , is a factor that person is of the majority of that public I mentioned . Just my three cent piece of opinion .  ;)

I think your logic may be solid but misplaced in this instance - the whole thing about the weight of hollow points vs solid ammo was a barb at me which I answered to be a good sport - I am not that weird that I worry about bullet weight other than how it effects penetration/performance of the round.  Thanks for your 2 cents though - point taken.

PS - Hope to get my Pug to the range this weekend to see if I can hang onto it with stock grip!
