A .45 with 8-10 rounds for concealed carry or something like Bersa Thunder Plus .380 but 15 rounds?

Neither, but if I had to choose among only those two, it would be the .45ACP. I do have that choice, though (well, not a 15-round .380, but several different single-stack .380"s), including a 12-round Para-Ordnance P-12, a Colt 1911 and a Colt Officer's Model) and I don't carry any of those. sopsax

Definitely the .45ACP. Move that .380ACP to 9mm or .40S&W and that question becomes harder. I think I would rather have 11 or 12 rounds of .40S&W.

I would take both please but the .380 had better have a threaded barrel, same for the .45 if it is not a 1911.........................

Myself I lean to my Kimber ultra light 45 (w/laser) with a duffle bag full of mags and my Colt 1911 as backup (using the same mags is a beautiful thing) . Everything else just doesn't sound (literally) the same which is often enough to sway the situation , maybe 44 mags also .  ;) ;)

...or the Bersa 380CC with 8+1 rounds! It has repeatedly passed my summer carry restrictions with flying colors. Great pistol.

Spend more money on ammo, aim better, use a smaller caliber.

45acp with 6 rounds in my Springfield Armory XDs with a extra mag and my little 22mag pug as back-up. Can't go wrong with that pair.

Of the provided choices, I pick the .45.

It's a rather Glockish trait.  8)

I have zero faith in the 380...  The 45 hands down.

Many years back I was walking property lines with a land owner. Mostly eastern farm land with fields and hedgerows. The land owner especially wanted me to kill a bunch of wood chucks that had ruined a couple of his fields because of the holes. I was carrying a older Colt 380 semi in my pocket. As we rounded a corner he was telling me of this one huge chuck he had shot at a dozen times but always missed. Don't ya know there he was! Maybe 15 yards in front and to our left side. I pulled the pistol as he made the dash across our travel route. I shot 5-6 times as he did. I hit him three or four times with 88g Rem HPs and he still went 30-40 yards before slowing and rolling over. He must have weighed 40 #! I bought a then new Colt Officered model that same week!!  :o ::) ;) ;) ;)

This reminds me of a recent post about shooting a scared animal and how the animal "could be dead and not know it yet," yet how they can travel amazing distances with extremely fatal injuries.

One round of .380 can kill a 300 pound crack head. The primary question is "Was it in the right place?" and the secondary question is "do I have long enough until it takes effect?"

.45 acp has excellent penetration, .380 not so much.

Adequate penetration of even ball ammo has often been linked to effectiveness.

If a Glock 17 won't get you out of it....You lost.

Even if you need to fire under water.  8)
