Does anybody know where to find Stag boot grips for a magnum?

If not - have any of you ever tried carving your own grips from Sambar stag? Just wondering how hard it is to shape and polish. I might try to make them myself.

Any advice - about suppliers or anything to do with Sambar would be appreciated.

Never seen any, but never looked. A couple on here have made their own, they don't seem to think it is overly complicated. I have never tried. I suspect they will chime in once they see this post, if they are still on the board.

If I were looking to have a pair made, I would find the web site for Spresser (Spressor?) Grips, and send them an email. When you get them, post a pic or 3.

Mike you just gotta make them because I have not found anybody who sells them . I didn't use scales I used the whole crown base area to find what I was looking for and the elephant ivory (thicker the better 1/2" minimum I've found each side) I found online with Boone Trading Company out of Washington state ,(talk to Tina). The legal ivory ones I kept enlarged because it fits the hand perfectly when gripping and didn't want to waste the ivory neither (expensive) . Ivory feels so great in the hand better that the Sambar stag (again the thicker and wider the better) . Both polish to glass finish . Be careful with these Sambar stag suppliers a bunch of crooks mainly , southeast Asia pric*s , read the fine print what you see isn't what you get 99% of the time . Believe it or not I found deer and elk pieces (crown ends) that sold as dog chews on E-Bay for a fraction of the price of actual antler dealers , higher quality and better pieces too . Making any set take your time because you can always take more off but not put it back on , I practiced on wood first to find the right tools to use and made some great sets in the process . Let me know how you do I'm always open for new ideas and shapes . Good luck and happy hunting .  ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) That last set of pictures were my first set of boots I made but wasn't so happy with them being narrow , great for boot size hugged the leg perfectly , but I wanted thicker and larger .

Thanks for the tips, OV. If I can make mine half as nice as yours I'll be pleased. I plan to practice on some wood before I start messin' with the Stag material.

I'll order the crown section of the stag to make the grips as you suggest.

Hey Mike let me know if you have any questions on how to especially making a jig to hold your piece while you rout it out with a Dremel , pretty simple but effective . :)

Very nice grips. What kind of jig did you use? I have the material and am going to make a set of 'boot' grips for the LR and Magnum models I am working on customizing. Any pic's of the jigs?
