and, has age affected your decision? Personally, at 72, I am re-vamping my shooting. Sold the 'heavy' .308 assault styled rifle. Who am I kidding thinking that I, at my age, am going to be able to fend off the invading herds. Sold off all the handguns that didn't have matching caliber rifles. Sold all the long barreled shotguns, but kept the 18 1/2" ones.

Weight, recoil, and grip were the factors that weighed into my decisions. I now shoot:
.22
.380
9mm
5.7 x 28mm

I also kept a .308 long range rifle. Why? Because I'm buried in it and it doesn't eat anything.

I have guns in more calibers than I regularly shoot, but these are the most common that I have been shooting lately: .22LR, .22WRF, .380ACP, 9mm, 7.62x25, 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, .40S&W, .45ACP.

RogueTS1

.22 LR and Magnum, 6.35mm, 5.7mm, .380, 9mm, .45acp, .45LC, .38 Special, .357 Mag, 5.56mm, 7mm Rem Mag, 300 Win Mag and 12 and 20 G shotguns. I think that covers just about all of them; I believe.................

Best sights, especially if one has older and tiring eyes, is the XS Big Dot sights. They are the fastest on target combat sights short of a Red Dot optic and are quite accurate also.

I have really bad Arthritis in my hands and wrists.  I shoot 32 s, mostly longs, sometimes shorts.  I also shoot mainly S/A because I just can't shoot D/A accurately, so I just don't try anymore.

They sight in just like iron sights. Just have to figure at what range you want to zero them. You also have to make sure you are keeping both eyes open when using them otherwise the dot can be hard to pick up on the lens.

I've got a few different calibers on hand.

Long guns
12 Guage, 2¾" and 3" shells
.30-06
.308 (7.62mm X 51mm)
.303 British
.357 Magnum/.38 Special
9mm X 19mm Luger
.22 LR

Hand guns
.40 S&W
.357 Magnum
.38 Special +P
9mm X 19mm Luger
9mm X 17mm (.380 ACP)
.22 WMR
.22 LR

Also used to have and use 7.65mm X 17mm (.32 ACP), but gave it away when I transferred the firearm to another.

OV-1D

Well lets start small and work my way up ........ 22 all three sizes (longs are hard to come by)  , 32 rim (hard to come by) and center fire , 9mm ,38 special ,357 ,44 mag , 45 acp , 45 long colt too costly to shoot much  , rifle rounds 22 all three size rounds , 7.62-39 SKS - AK-47 cheap shooting , 30-30 , 30-06 like to save the ammo for the big push ha , Remington 7MM mag. (distance sniper shooting) again don't need to waste , 45-120 don't shoot very often limited rounds and would have to reload brass , 410 and 12 gauges hardly shoot these at all who needs the practice . Everything seems to cost too much to plink except the 22's and the 7.62-39 's , really hate to waste any ammo anymore . I've resorted to polishing bullets nowadays and putting names on them with a Sharpie, does that sound crazy ? Ha , ha ,ha ,ha ,ha  .  ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I've always tried to stick with the common calibers that are normally easy to get and therefore relatively cheaper than the rarer ones - typically the things you see in Walmart. I have then tried to acquire at least 2 guns in each caliber, so in a worst case scenario I can make the best use of my Ammo supply should a gun break. Despite efforts to control the range of calibers etc. I still have and use 22LR, 25acp, 380, 9mm, 38 spl, 357 mag, 44 Mag, 45acp, 7.62x39, 30-06, 12 gauge.

The most unusual caliber gun I have is a KNIL M91 revolver in 9.4mm Dutch, but I've never bought ammo or fired it.

I hope at least it has a bayonet , the Dutch were always good for a bayonet mount . :)

.22lr/m and .380.  Makes for a very efficient ammo box.

Not being a hunter I only own .22 rifles (target, plinking) and my handguns are down to .380s and .22s.  After years of spraying .40, .45, and 9x19 all over the place I recognized, for handguns, a controllable .380 is much more fun and effective.  With a little age comes a little wisdom I guess.

Hmm, a CZ 75 could change all this.....always wanted one.

Handguns--=--22--22mag---38--357--44Mag.--45 Colt,  Center fire all cast bullets and reloaded plus some Contender barrels.
Almost forgot, Mini master in 17HMR, but unfired.

Rifles---22s--17HMR---And center fires that I reload for, 22-250---220 Swift.
I do have a Frazer falling block in 22 HORNET that I fired about 3 shells through. I guess I am saving it??

The 22-250s and the 220 Swift  haven't been shot much for years. They were the real deal for hunting jack rabbits when there was a market for them.
Rabbits are pretty much gone, mostly thanks to the hawks that are protected.
Jack rabbit hunting in the winter with my kids and one of their cousins was a highlight in my life.

Cfharry how do you like your Challenger  ?  Just love shooting my Browning , it has to be the best full size 22 hand gun made . It's sleekness , weight , molded grip make it such a pleasure , it's hard to put down .

I only own handguns. Got rid of all my rifles and shotguns years ago. So I shoot 22, 22mag, 38 and 357's. Last gun show I was at I was looking at some 22 rifles but nothing seemed to fit my long arms.  ;D

tocsn40

Well lets see. Guns that I have 22 short, long, long rifle, (mag), (38, 357,) 45 long colt 410. (are in rifle and pistol ) I shoot the 22 the most but not as often as I would like
