Long story short (pun intended), I ordered a new Shorty on 11-6-2014.  They shipped it on the 14th and it arrived here on the 17th.  Earlier this morning I e-mailed Jessica and asked her to e-mail me when they shipped it, as soon as she came in she e-mailed me back to let me know it was sent.

As always, superior customer service.  These great little guns, are backed by equally great people, and service, and ownership.

I now only have to go pick it up, pay 45 bucks (grrr), and try not to show my butt.  This part will not be easy.

45 bucks? That IS a Grrr... :(

Yesterday, I received my first handgun from an Internet interstate purchase that was shipped directly to my door with no background check and no FFL transfer fee. It was cool. But I don't think any NAA's are 50 years old or older and qualify for my C&R FFL. Bummer. :(

NAA needs to make some special edition collector editions that WOULD qualify as C&R. I'm not sure if you have to officially get it listed with the ATF as a collectible to then qualify, but that would definitely be cool. Then you can get around the 50-year-old requirement.

But congrats on your new purchase! The shorties are definitely in a class by themselves. :) I think the shorties are what started it all with NAA, aren't they?

We need some photos or it did not happen!! I do not think I have seen a Short with black cobblestone grips, so yours should be different.

I, too, have been guilty of singing the praises of NAA customer service, and Ms Jessica in particular. HOWEVER, it dawned on me, maybe we need to cease doing so. Eventually, word will get out on how good she really is at her job, and, GASP!, someone may hire her away from OUR company! That would be tragic!

OK, here they are.  Ain't she purty?  Not very good pictures, but they give some idea how she looks.  I'm gonna call her Red.  I hope this works, I'm at least 37% sure it will.

Call Jessica, (her phone # is on the NAA website), and make a 'special order', She will tell you the parameters.

I had a box of shells already, so I haven't really looked around,  Lots of times Walmart has them.  Others on this sight can p[robably help you find them on-line.

I can tell you that I am extremely pleased with my ne Shorty  My pictures are woefully inadequate to show her beauty.   She will be an emergency 'up close and personal' self-defense weapon.  A tool, a beautiful tool (and 'an added attraction'), but a tool none-the-less.

NAA must be a great place to work. Closed on Fri. afternoon--reduces stress on the employees. I call the day before Thanksgiving and they are closed---good for them, more family time. To me, NAA seems to be a small, family oriented business that the employees that takes care of their own. Customer service--they put up with all my technical questions with a smile (at least that's the way it seems to me). I wish more companies operated this way.

Just my $.02 worth...

Red14--
That's great that you now have a short. Looks good. They are a keeper.  Got my first one in the early 70s.  By the late 70s it badly needed a rebuild from living in my back pocket in a folded big hanky.  That included a lot of time spent dirt biking. Sent it in and it came back new. While it was gone I bought a 22 LR, which I have carried almost every day since I got it. I still have the short which still looks like new, plus two more just to have them.
Will never sell that first one, and would buy another if I found one at a fair price.

That Golden short is really special - - but I have a question - it is scratched up or dusty? Can't tell which in the photo.

I've been contemplating buying one of those for a while!

What is you guys opinion of gold plating? I can't decide if I like it or not.  I'm talking about gold plating in general, not just the shorty.

She sure is purty, Red! Good photos too, in my opinion. Those cobblestone grips look good on the Short, too. I have not generally named my weapons, but maybe I should do so.

It is dust...unfortunately the IPhone 6 camera is a little too precise.

WOW!! That is so gorgeous.  I would like to see that on a gold pocket watch chain. It would be perfect. What do you think GoldSmithy?  Wow, wow, wow.  I really like it in gold.

I think the gold looks mighty fine on a firearm but I shoot my guns and I would be concerned how well the gold would hold up as well as when refinishing time comes along. I am not one that worries about original finishes to the extent that I will let a fine gun fester because I will not get it refinished.

The Gold Eagle was $359 directly from NAA.  I am pretty sure they have them in ready inventory.

It is not a super high price for the somewhat unique appearance in my opinion.

Red - did you take that Short out shooting this weekend? When I get a new gun I have a hard time relaxing until I have put some ammo through it. I do not remember what part of the country you are in, but it was perfect weather for shooting here along the Gulf Coast.

Short ammo seems hard to find in my area, though I have not looked real hard. It is hard to find on line too, and I have looked a bit more there.

If you are interested Academy online right now has Remington Golden Bullet HP .22 Short 29-Grain for $3.99 a box. If you buy a brick 10, and the site allows you to buy that many the shipping is free. I have found them on Gunbot since I'm thinking about getting a shorty,  but the shipping is usually the killer on them.

Proper gold plating is a very detailed, long process. Gold plating directly on SS will not last long. It must be first nickle plated, polished, cleaned--nickle plated, polished, cleaned-- and then gold plated, polished and cleaned. Heat and pressure will affect how long the plating will look good as in how often you will shoot it.

I have dug out my plating equipment and want to try plating on NAA steel. I will not be plating frames initially, just cylinders , cylinder pins and anything else that can be removed from the frame like the side plate.

Believe it or not, the most important step in plating is the finish you start with. Stainless steel must have a mirror polish before you even start to plate. I polished out the cylinders on my LR and Mag and it took me 1 1/2 hrs to do both, alone with the ends of the cylinder pin. However, I have decided not to plate them. They will go into their walnut display cases and become safe queens :( .

Now, on to the next on---which will have a plated cylinder...

No, we had a little emergency around here and I haven't gotten out yet.  I won't carry it until I do go to the range.   I live in N.E. Florida and it's actually rather chilly here, lower 50s, wet, overcast and rainy.  Nor'easter type weather.  I am quite anxious to go shooting though.

Hope the little emergency was not too bad. I live in SW Alabama, and it was not bad this weekend. You could even say that Sunday was perfect. I was off work today so I took my kayak out for a few hours and did a bit of shooting, but mostly just listening to the birds and the wind in the pines.

I went to the range this weekend, here in northern W.V. It was 31 degrees in the am and about 41 at noon when we were at the range.that is a good weather day for December.

I start to panic when it dips below 55 . Here in Florida I feel like a water turkey drying out in the sunshine with my arms stretched out to gather warmth , working outside is a drag sometimes in the summer I can't buy a job in the shade and in the winter can't buy one in the sun , go figure . As for NAA I've replaced Jessica with Margo I think her name is for expert service and parts . Great gal she is , thanks dear if you read this your the best and you rock . Sandy give that lady a raise about it .  :)
