No politics here gents, just got a new toy and thought I'd share. Picked up a Savage Mark II FV-SR (suppressor ready) and scoped it with a BSA Sweet .22. With my Tac-65 can, this is the the absolutely spookiest (for lack of a better adjective) gun I have ever fired. NO noise, without exaggerating, NONE. Using Rem SS rounds, CLICK....THWACK. I will say the can spreads the groups a bit, but I am still picking off shotgun wads from the dirt at the range at 50 yards. Not bad for a $300.00 bolt action. Oh and the accu-trigger is amazing. Just thought I'd share in case anyone is considering a similar set up. Happy Fourth fellas!

Gonzoman you can't just talk about the gun and leave us hanging, you have to post pictures also.

   Love to see it.

Gonzoman - Did not know non political threads were still allowed ... Sounds like

a nice setup. I have never tried Remington subsonics. And yes, we need pictures!

Savage is known for their accuracy, and they make an attractive rifle. Now you have another problem. When you miss, you can't blame the rifle!

I'll try to post some pics when I get home. The Rem SS are the only SS rounds I can find locally, so for the time being that is what I am stuck with. This photo looks exactly like mine, however, I am using ten round mags in stead of the find rounder shown. 16" fluted and threaded, oversized bolt, adjustable accu-trigger, blacked out and about as mean as a .22 bolt action can look. BSA's Sweet .22 Scope is also a AWESOME deal if u can find one. Comes with three bullet drop reticles for different gr weights and is as clear a scope as I have seen. Picked up a bipod from Bass pro and called it a day...http://www.fototime.com/2239E9BBC54842D/orig.jpg">http://www.fototime.com/2239E9BBC54842D/orig.jpg

Now that is a nice rifle, shoot it well Gonzo.

It's good to hear a solid review of the rifle with a can on it.  My gun shop said they could not order the MkIIFV-SR yet - I went in looking for one after I saw the ad in last month's Guns and Ammo.

When you get a chance to shoot it a bunch, and break it in, how about posting some pictures of the targets, showing the accuracy of the rifle. Maybe comment on the difference with and without the can as to the difference in group size.

No rush. Tomorrow afternoon is fine...

Gray, earliest I can get to the range will prob be next week, Im on day work all week...If I can get my wife to give me a hand I'll try to post some pics. I tried it once before here and it would not let me for some reason?? Anyway, at 25 yards the can does little to accuracy. I have been putting 10 shots on a dime sized dot at this distance every outing using the Rem SS. But honestly, I can almost do this with my S&W 22A from a sandbag, so that is nothing for a scoped rifle. At 50 yards, is where it gets interesting. Quality control may be an issue with this ammo because I will have a ten shot group of 1 1/2-2" and then one all over the place. Wihout the can at this distance I was grouping them all into approx 1" black dots (via my trusty sharpie) and the best I can seem to put up with the can is about twice that. But, I am consistently getting hits on other targets like shotgun wads and pine cones lying out on the range, go figure. I would like to find some CCI standard Velocity or Eley SS ammo to really figure out what this rifle is capable of and try to find an ammo that the suppressor can get along with. My tac-65 can uses 5 "K" style baffles that can be moved swapped inside the can. I'm trying to figure out if aligning the bleed through holes on the baffles in different ways will have less of an effect on accuracy?? Anybody ever mess around with the baffles in their can and have any idea about what I am taliking about?? Anyway, I will say the bolt has smoothed out a LOT after about 500-550 rounds, in and out like butter now...At first I had a couple hiccups with the ten round mags, but now it will feed everything, every time. My first rifle was a .22 Marlin bolt action that my dad handed down to me (which I still own). Its scoped and sitting in the safe where it has been for about 7 years. Maybe I'll dust it off and do a comparison when I get some time here.

I have a Savage Mark II , hmmm.... don't see a model designation on it ... it's a 21" , heavy, target crowned barrel that I am very pleased with. I keep it stoked with the Remington sub-sonics. I also have some CCI sub-sonic ammo but it is a very erratic load from one shot to the next. I have some Remington 22LR C-B ammo that is very quiet and the rifle does well with the Aguila 60grn SSS ammo. I would like to get one of the Savages like yours in the future. Jim

Oops, it has the "accu-trigger" which is top notch and accuracy is great. Jim
