Just curious about what folks are actually dropping into their pockets. I realize that I left out the Short and the Earl and the Sheriff. If I omitted your carry model, feel free to rebuke me when you post about it! I picked Sidewinder, though I could almost as accurately chose LR or Pug. I have carried the Sidewinder more than the others this past year. Some mornings it is hard to decide which to drop in my pocket.

Jim1392

Pug in a Ragsdale holster.

ptrck85

Wasp w/ the WMR cylinder.

I stick it in the fifth pocket of my jeans or in this IWB holster I found on amazon a few months ago if that's not an option.

Hands down easily the Pug loaded with Hornady Critical Defense .22mags accompanied by a speed strip loaded with 10 extra cartridges:

Dinadan

Seems that the Pug is the weapon of choice here with 46% of the vote!

A 1 5/8 Wasp gets the majority of carry time, and a 1 1/8 Black Jack gets the rest. If I have a pocket, one of those 2 will be in it.

I carry all but the BW.
I don't know which I have carried the most.
I never, never carry just one.

With what my dear wife had to spend to fulfill my desire for a Sidewinder, I BETTER carry it, or else (she might take it)!  :-*

I have been carrying  A 22 cal. with a 1 I/8 barrel almost every day for probably close to 40 years. Same gun. Before that it was a 22 short, which I still have. Sometimes there is a Pug, or a BW, or maybe a 60 Smith also.  Sometimes like in the winter I will carry my Pug in a Madhat belt holster, which I have for over a month here lately. I do add a gun in my truck when I leave town but unless its a smaller gun like my Guardian or another mini I don't carry it.  Went on a road trip the other day and took my Ruger Shopkeeper along. Its whatever gun that makes me feel good that day. Like a kid with their favorite toy for the day.

Lee, I did ask my wife one time about a backup, girlfriend that is. No go..

I understand your point Uncle Lee, I just did not have enough options for all possible answers. I have carried six different Minis at times this year, but I chose Sidewinder because I carry it most, followed by LR, Pug, Magnum Mini, Black Widow and Earl.

Bluelitenin

I answered sidewinder because it gets carried the most. I have also carried the BW, Pug, and Magnum w/laser/bayonet.
In the colder weather I carry my colt mustang a lot. The minis just fit a lot better in pockets in summer clothes.

RogueTS1

Now my reply is just in concerns to what NAA I carry. I always have another if not two pistols with me and every one has at least one reload.

Uncle_Lee

I was meaning just NAA.
It is heavy jacket/coat weather out there, so I am carrying my winter rig.
I have posted the picture many times.
Just which two Minis that I am carrying changes.

BW IWB holster on left side as a cross draw or a 1 5/8 mini with a folding grip in my back pocket. Both with Hornady  CD....

Dinadan

I see that with 33 responders the Pug is down to 33%. I am a bit surprised that the Black Widow is the lowest ranked since I thought that a good number of folks preferred it to other Minis. I can certainly understand why the Pug is top ranked. It was my first Mini and still one of my favorites. Of course, every one of my Minis is one of my favorites.

The BW is always with me.  I would like to add a 2" Sidewinder but that will be a long time coming.  I may give up waiting and add a Pug.

I carry at least one of these daily . The two bottom ones I like to have something that I can use as a role of quarters in my fist if need be . ;)

You have one of those new fangled laser sights on that Black Widow? Careful or you will put your eye out with that thing!

I see that the Pug is still holding at number one with 33% of the votes. Not surprising at all!

I've always wanted a Pug, but the cost has stopped me. It's much more expensive than a Magnum Mini or a Black Widow. Is it really worth the extra cost?

RogueTS1

Yes it is; but if one looks hard enough they can find one at a much better price than that.

I think that from a practical standpoint the answer would be no. If I recall correctly you have a Black Widow, and the only real difference between that and the Pug is the shorter barrel. The Pug is easier to conceal, but a 1 1/8" Magnum Mini is just as easy. I think it just comes down to whether you want a Pug. Since you clearly want one, in my opinion it will be worth the extra cost!

pvq

I bought my Pug when they were introduced since I loved the form factor, and at the time it was introduced as a "limited edition" and I didn't expect that production would necessarily continue. It was about $100 or so more expensive than the standard mini mag but IMHO it was well worth the extra cost over the standard magnum due to locking pin and the sights. I prefer the BW style locking pin since I think it is more secure, and even though many would argue sights are useless on a gun this small, I would respectfully disagree. IMHO, sights are more important on a gun this tiny than on a "larger" small auto like the Guardian or Ruger LCP. The reason, I think, is because the firing grip on a small auto seems to orient the gun properly to be able to put 5 shots on target at 10 feet without really thinking about it. Mini revolvers are so small and "jumpy" and the firing grips I have seen online (depending on hand size) are so varied that I think its pretty easy to fire the gun from an grip purchase where the angle of fire would cause a person to miss the target from 10 feet away if you're not concentrating. I think large usable sights which allow for quick muzzle orientation are a must on a gun this small. These guns are actually remarkably accurate if you do your part, and I think the XS sights are very helpful.

Also, just a very quick cursory scan on Gunbroker didn't indicate to me that there is a big price difference between the Pug and the BW though it is still around $100 more than a standard magnum.

PugNStuff

In 30 years of carrying a firearm I have never come close to having to pull my weapon. Having said that, I still carry daily. During the week and around the small town I live in I usually carry a BW in kydex IWB holster. I don't care much for pocket carry. I also  have 2 Pugs, a BJ, and a 1-1/8" LR. I carry one of the Pugs from time to time. One has the stock grips the other CVang grips.

When traveling or planning to go somewhere unfamiliar I usually carry a 9mm, usually a Walther P99c or PPS, maybe a CZ P01.

I used to carry an LCP mainly and although it is a great carry gun comfort wise, it is almost too small to draw quickly from IWB carry. That is why I switched to the BW, the stock grip is easy to grab and draw and it is just as comfortable to carry.

I came close twice, but never had it with me. Probably a very good thing! :-\

RogueTS1

I have had several occasions over the years but never had to fire. It is very comforting to suddenly find yourself in a situation and know that you have come prepared rather than, "what do I do now?"

Well, it seems that the Pug is the favorite self defense Mini for forum members, with 16 members(34%) carrying the Pug.

Another fine setting you have there Dinadan but wheres the Durby ? Got to have a Durby . That's a question I've always asked myself why have brimmed hats go extinct ? Maybe it was because they invented flip-flops . ;D ;D ;D

OV-ID - I have never owned a Durby. By the way I am pretty sure you misspelled it. This is what I wear when I am in the wild, or at work in some place where I do not have to wear a hard hat. I am a throwback, I guess, but I like hats and boots, not ball caps and sneakers.
